Formation of intermetallic compounds during reaction between Ti and Al-Mg alloys with various Mg contents

The reactions between Ti and Al-Mg alloys were systematically investigated by heating the Ti/Al-Mg al-loy powder mixture compacts with Mg contents ranging from 5.09 to 40.36 wt.%at 660°*** element in the Al-Mg alloys contributed to the breakage of the oxide films on the surfaces of the Ti and Al-Mg alloy powders,thus,promoting the *** the samples with Mg contents varying from 5.09 wt.%to 25.93 wt.%,the first-formed intermetallic compound was Al_(18)Ti_(2)Mg_(3),and then Al_(3)Ti generated at the Al_(18)Ti_(2)Mg_(3)/Ti *** the Mg content in the Al-Mg melts decreased during the subsequent heat-ing process,the previously formed Al_(18)Ti_(2)Mg_(3)in the Ti/Al-5.09Mg sample transformed into Al_(3)Ti accom-panied by the reaction of Al with Ti to newly form Al_(3)Ti,generating a single Al_(3)Ti *** contrast,the new formation of Al_(3)Ti and its transformation to Al_(18)Ti_(2)Mg_(3)proceeded continuously in the Ti/Al-13.54Mg and Ti/Al-25.94Mg samples,resulting in a mixture of Al_(18)Ti_(2)Mg_(3)and a little Al_(3)Ti *** the Ti/Al-40.54Mg sample,Al_(3)Ti was the unique reaction product throughout the heating *** final Al_(3)Ti particles in the Ti/Al-5.09Mg sample were in a blocky shape,while they were in a plate-like form in the Ti/Al-40.54Mg sample,which was caused by the enhanced growth anisotropy due to the de-creased interfacial energy between Al_(3)Ti particles and Al-Mg melts with the increase of Mg content.A twin plane re-entrant mechanism was suggested for the growth of Al_(18)Ti_(2)Mg_(3)particles,weakening the anisotropic growth caused by the directional supply of Ti atoms,and contributing to the blocky mor-phology of Al_(18)Ti_(2)Mg_(3)*** addition,the volume difference between the formed Al_(18)Ti_(2)Mg_(3)and consumed Ti was greater than that between the Al_(3)Ti and Ti,and the Al_(18)Ti_(2)Mg_(3)has worse plasticity than the Al_(3)Ti,resulting in the Al_(18)Ti_(2)Mg_(3)reaction product fracturing more easily d

Simultaneous removal of hydrogen sulfide and toluene in a bioreactor:Performance and characteristics of microbial community

We investigated the correlation between performance and the bacteria community composition by H2S and toluene co-treatment. Operation of the bioreactor was divided into four stages, in which the inlet concentration of toluene and H2S were gradually increased. In Stage I, toluene was the sole target compound with an average removal efficiency of 86.49%. After adding HeS in Stage II, removal efficiency of toluene decreased immediately and recovered gradually to 85.96%. When the inlet concentration of toluene and HzS was increased in Stage III and Stage IV, respectively, the average removal efficiency for toluene increased continuously from 86.31% to 87.24%. The elimination capacities of toluene increased with increasing inlet loading rates of toluene and H2S. Results of the PCR-DGGE analysis showed a turnover growth and decline of the microbial populations in the bioreactor. In Stage I, the dominant toluene-degrading bacteria mainly contained Pseudomonas sp. strain PS ＋ and Hydrogenophaga sp. In Stage IV, however, the dominant toluene-degrading bacteria was aciduric bacteria （Clostridium populeti）. The dominant microbial community in the bioreactor enhanced the elimination capacity of toluene, and adding H2S changed the environment of microbial growth, thus resulted in an evolution of dominant microorganisms. Analyses of microbial community and their activities provides valuable information to efficiently enhance simultaneous removal of toluene and H2S in the bioreactor.

High-resolution forward-looking imaging algorithm for missile-borne detectors

Aiming at a novel missile-borne detector in the optional burst height proximity fuze, a self-adaptive high-resolution forward-looking imaging algorithm (SAHRFL-IA) is presented. The echo data are captured by the missile-borne detector in the target regions;thereby the azimuth angulation accuracy at the same distance dimension is improved dynamically. Thus, azimuth information of the targets in the detection area may be obtained accurately. The proposed imaging algorithm breaks through the conventional misconception of merely using azimuth discrimination curves under ideal conditions during monopulse angulation. The real-time echo data from the target region are used to perform error correction for this discrimination curve, and finally the accuracy of the azimuth angulation may reach the optimum at the same distance dimension. A series of experiments demonstrate the validity, reliability and high performance of the proposed imaging algorithm. Azimuth angulation accuracy may reach ten times that of the detection beam width. Meanwhile, the running time of this algorithm satisfies the requirements of missile-borne platforms.

We explore the existence of monogamy relations in terms of Rényi-α entanglement. By using the power of the Rényi-α entanglement, we establish a class of tight monogamy relations of multiqubit entanglement with larger lower bounds than the existing monogamy relations for α≥2, the power η>1, and 2>α≥(71/2-1)/2, the power η>2, respectively.

On Conformally Flat(α,β)-metrics with Special Curvature Properties

In this paper, we study a significant non-Riemannian quantity E-curvature, which is defined by S-curvature. Firstly, we obtain the formula of E-curvature for （α,β）-metrics. Based on it, we show that the E-curvature vanishes for a class of （α,β）-metrics. In the end, we get the relation of E-curvature for conformally related Finsler metrics, and classify conformally flat （α,β）-metries with almost vanishing E-curvature.

Crustal density structures and isostasy beneath the Western North China craton,Trans-North China Orogen,and surrounding regions

To determine the lateral and vertical variations in crustal structure and their influence on the seismicity of the Western North China Craton,the Trans-North China Orogen,and the surrounding regions,the wavelet multi-scale structures,Moho depth,crustal density structures,and isostatic state are modelled using Bouguer gravity anomaly data,topography,and earthquake focal *** obtained homogeneous crustal densities and deviations of<1 km between the crustal thicknesses estimated from the isostatic model and those inverted from the Bouguer gravity anomalies in the Ordos Block,the Inner Mongolia Suture Zone,the Sichuan Basin,and the Jizhong *** results provide new evidence for relatively simple and stable continental crustal structures,and indicate that these regions will remain stable in both the vertical and lateral *** Hetao Graben,Yinchuan Graben,Weihe Basin,and Shanxi graben system have heterogeneous crustal densities and are isostatically *** contrast,the crust beneath the Yinshan Uplift,Lvliang Uplift,and northern and central Taihang Uplift is thin and *** heterogeneous crustal densities and non-isostatic state beneath the Tibetan Plateau and Qinling Central China Orogen indicate that these two blocks are unstable in the vertical and lateral *** Cenozoic deformation of the North China Craton is thought to be driven by lithospheric stresses related to the India-Eurasia collision and Pacific slab retreat in South East Asia,we suggest that gravitational potential energy created by the heterogeneous crustal structure modulates these first-order *** results of this study could constrain the causes of seismicity in systems surrounding the Ordos Block.

Removal of airborne microorganisms emitted from a wastewater treatment oxidation ditch by adsorption on activated carbon

Bioaerosol emissions from wastewater and wastewater treatment processes are a significant subgroup of atmospheric aerosols. Most previous work has focused on the evaluation of their biological risks. In this study, however, the adsorption method was applied to reduce airborne microorganisms generated from a pilot scale wastewater treatment facility with oxidation ditch. Results showed adsorption on granule activated carbon （GAC） was an efficient method for the purification of airborne microorganisms. The GAC itself had a maximum adsorption capacity of 2217 CFU/g for airborne bacteria and 225 CFU/g for fungi with a flow rate of 1.50 m^3/hr. Over 85% of airborne bacteria and fungi emitted from the oxidation ditch were adsorbed within 80 hr of continuous operation mode. Most of them had a particle size of 0.65-4.7 μm. Those airborne microorganisms with small particle size were apt to be adsorbed. The SEM/EDAX, BET and Boehm＇s titration methods were applied to analyse the physicochemical characteristics of the GAC. Relationships between GAC surface characteristics and its adsorption performance demonstrated that porous structure, large surface area, and hydrophobicity rendered GAC an effective absorber of airborne microorganisms. Two regenerate methods, ultraviolet irradiation and high pressure vapor, were compared for the regeneration of used activated carbon. High pressure vapor was an effective technique as it totally destroyed the microorganisms adhered to the activated carbon. Microscopic observation was also carried out to investigate original and used adsorbents.

Impact of atrazine and nitrogen fertilizers on the sorption of chlorotoluron in soil and model sorbents

Sorption of chlorotoluron in ammonium sulfate, urea and atrazine multi-solutes system was investigated by batch experiments. The results showed application of nitrogen fertilizers to the soil could affect the behavior of chlorotoluron. At the same concentration of N, sorption of chlorotoluron decreased as the concentration of atrazine increased on the day 0 and 6 in soil, respectively. The sorption of chlorotoluron increased from 0 to 6 d when soils were preincubated with deionized water, ammonium sulfate and urea solution for 6 d. That indicated incubation time was one of the most important factors for the sorption of chlorotoluron in nitrogen fertilizers treatments. The individual sorption isotherms of chlorotoluron in rubbery polymer and silica were strictly linear in single solute system, but there were competition sorption between pesticides or between pesticides and nitrogen fertilizers. That indicated the sorption taken place by concurrent solid-phase dissolution mechanism and sorption on the interface of water-organic matter or water-mineral matter.
