Once we have reviewed the various opinions of our colleagues in the Consensus Group on CMS, I am sure that we will improve our knowledge of this disease, which is increasing in importance world wide. In our country CMS is a major concern of public health authorities due to its prevalence in the relatively young and active male population. In addition to thanking all of you, I owe special thanks to Dr. Ge Ri-Li, to Dr. Peter Hackett and to *** Leon-Velarde for providing all of us with the opportunity to participate in this meeting of the Consensus Group with Dr. Dante Pealoza. Dr. Pealoza is truly a pioneer among Peruvian scientists in the understanding of Monge′s Disease. His thesis on CMS and the pulmonary circulation, published in 1969, is worth our consideration in the present debate, awakening the interest of us all, although some of us, like me, came to his work late. I thank Fabiola also, for all of her energy in organizing this meeting, and Professor Jack Reeves, a pillar of our organization, whose breadth of knowledge, combined with the simplicity with which he relays his deep understanding of the subject, will guarantee that the summary of the consensus reached will be a comprehensive guide for all us. I also thank Octavio Aparicio, José Farfn, Susan Niermeyer, Stacy Zamudio and Lorna Moore for valuable discussions and editorial assistance.

Voluntary soil protection measures are not sufficient to achieve sustainable soil management at a global ***,binding soil protection legislation at national and international levels has also proved to be insufficient for the effective protection of this almost non-renewable natural *** European Soil Partnership(ESP)and its sub-regional partnerships(Eurasian Sub-Regional Soil Partnership,Alpine Soil Partnership)were established in the context of FAO's Global Soil Partnership(GSP)with the mission to facilitate and contribute to the exchange of knowledge and technologies related to soils,to develop dialogue and to raise awareness for the need to establish a binding global agreement for sustainable soil management The ESP has taken a role of an umbrella network covering countries in Europe and Central *** aims to improve the dialogue in the whole region and has encouraged establishing goals that would promote sustainable soil management taking into account various national and local approaches and priorities,as well as cultural *** ESP first regional implementation plan for the 2017—2020 period was adopted and implemented along the five GSP pillars of *** on the experience of the last four years,this study demonstrates that establishing sub-regional and national partnerships is an additional step in a concrete sustainable soil management implementation *** also suggests that a complementary approach between legal instruments and voluntary initiatives linked to the development of efficient communication and strong commitment is the key to success.

Objective: To investigate the age at menarche, pubarche and telarche in a representative sample of residents of an urban zone of Leon, Guanajuato, Central Mexico and to evaluate the secular change of the age at menarche between 1985 and 2000. Methods: Using status quo and retrospective methods, menarcheal, pubarcheal and telarcheal status of girls 8 - 17 years of age (n = 1093) were determined. Multiple regression analysis and logistic regression were used to determine factors that were related to or predictive of age at menarche. Results: Median ages for menarche, pubarche and telarche in our studied sample were: 11.9 ± 0.04;11.13 ± 1.25 and 10.84 ± 1.34 years, respectively. A direct correlation was found between the age of menarche of adolescents and that of their mother (p p p = 0.001), but an indirect correlation was found with the girls’ hip circumference (p = 0.004). We demonstrated a clear secular tendency towards an earlier onset of menarche by comparing our results (11.9 ± 0.04) with data from 1985 (12.8 ± 1.3) for adolescents from the same city. Conclusion: We demonstrated a clear reduction in age at menarche of approximately 0.75 year/decade, higher than Tanner’s finding in 1962, but similar than that of Malina et al. in 2004.

The study of copper adsorption onto ion exchange resins of anionic type is part of the gold recovery from ammonia-thiosulfate solutions, where copper is the main impurity of the system because it acts as a catalyst of gold dissolution reaction. A study is made of the adsorption and desorption of copper in the form of the complex in an ammonia-thiosulfate media on an ion exchange resin, DOWEX 550A, classified as a strong base, which in its inner structure has a quaternary amine functional group. In the studied pH range copper adsorption increased with increasing pH, while the presence of thiosulfate decreased it, the same as the ammonia content, due to the greater presence of cuprotetramine, . Elution of the copper complexes from the resin was more efficient with sulfite than with perchlorate.

Plant peroxisomes have the capacity to gen erate different reactive oxygen and nitrogen species(ROS and RNS),such as H2O2,superoxide radical(O2^·-),nitric oxide and peroxynitrite(ONOO^-).These organelles have an active nitrooxidative metabolism which can be exacerbated by adverse stress *** sulfide(H2S)is a new signaling gasotransmitter which can mediate the posttranslational modification(PTM)*** used Arabidopsis thaliana transgenic seedlings expressing cyan fluorescent protein(CFP)fused to a canonical peroxisome targeting signal 1(PTS1)to visualize peroxisomes in living cells,as well as a specific fluorescent probe which showed that peroxisomes contain H2S.H2S was also detected in chloroplasts under glyphosate-induced oxidative stress *** enzyme activities,including catalase,photorespiratory H2O2-generating glycolate oxidase(GOX)and hydroxypyruvate reductase(HPR),were assayed in vitro with a H2S *** line with the persulfidation of this enzyme,catalase activity declined significantly in the presence of the H2S *** corroborate the inhibitory effect of H2S on catalase activity,we also assayed pure catalase from bovine liver and pepper fruit-enriched samples,in which catalase activity was *** together,these data provide evidenee of the presence of H2S in plant peroxisomes which appears to regulate catalase activity and,consequently,the peroxisomal H2O2 metabolism.

Tin oxide（SnO2） and fluorine doped tin oxide（FTO） films were prepared on glass substrates by sol-gel spin-coating using SnCl4 and NH4F *** doping concentration was fixed at 4 at%and 20 at%by controlling precursor sol *** exhibited the tetragonal rutile-type crystal structure regardless of fluorine *** and highly transparent FTO films,with more than 85%of optical transmittance,were obtained by annealing at 600℃.Florine doping of films was verified by analyzing the valence band region obtained by *** was found that the fluorine doping affects the shape of valence band of SnO2 *** addition,it was observed that the band gap of SnO2 is reduced as well as the Fermi level is upward shifted by the effect of fluorine doping.

Facing a Shift in Paradigm at the Bedside?

Our entire medical framework is based on the concept of disease, understood as a qualitative departure from normality (health) with a structural substrate (lesion), and usually an identifiable cause (aetiology). This paradigm is loaded with problems, some of which are discussed in the text. Nevertheless, we study, diagnose and treat diseases, and while often painfully conscious of the dysfunctionalities of this scheme, we can hardly imagine how we could practice medicine otherwise. However, most of the recent developments in basic sciences, and most notably in Immunology, Genetics and -omics, are inconsistent with this “health/disease” paradigm. The emerging scenario is that of complex networks, more in the spirit of Systems Biology. In these settings the qualitative difference between health and disease loses its meaning, and the whole discourse becomes progressively irreducible to our conventional clinical categories. As clinical research stagnates while basic sciences thrive, this gap is widening, and a change in the prevailing paradigm seems unavoidable. However, all our clinical judgments (including Bayesian reasoning and Evidence Based Medicine) are rooted in the disease/health dichotomy, and one can hardly conceive how they could work without it. The shift in paradigm will not be easy, and certain turmoil is to be expected.
