Low skeletal muscle mass and high visceral adiposity are associated with recurrence of acute cholecystitis after conservative management:A propensity score-matched cohort study

BACKGROUND Lipoprotein(a)[Lp(a)]is a causal risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases;however,its role in acute coronary syndrome(ACS)remains *** To investigate the hypothesis that the Lp(a)levels are altered by various conditions during the acute phase of ACS,resulting in subsequent cardiovascular *** From September 2009 to May 2016,377 patients with ACS who underwent emergent coronary angiography,and 249 who completed≥1000 d of follow-up were ***(a)levels were measured using an isoform-independent assay at each time point from before percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)to 48 h after *** primary endpoint was the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events(MACE;cardiac death,other vascular death,ACS,and non-cardiac vascular events).RESULTS The mean circulating Lp(a)level decreased significantly from pre-PCI(0 h)to 12 h after(19.0 mg/dL to 17.8 mg/dL,P<0.001),and then increased significantly up to 48 h after(19.3 mg/dL,P<0.001).The changes from 0 to 12 h[Lp(a)Δ0-12]significantly correlated with the basal levels of creatinine[Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient(SRCC):-0.181,P<0.01]and Lp(a)(SRCC:-0.306,P<0.05).Among the tertiles classified according to Lp(a)Δ0-12,MACE was significantly more frequent in the lowest Lp(a)Δ0-12 group than in the remaining two tertile groups(66.2%vs 53.6%,P=0.034).A multivariate analysis revealed that Lp(a)Δ0-12[hazard ratio(HR):0.96,95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.92-0.99]and basal creatinine(HR:1.13,95%CI:1.05-1.22)were independent determinants of subsequent *** Circulating Lp(a)levels in patients with ACS decreased significantly after emergent PCI,and a greater decrease was independently associated with a worse prognosis.

The present study examined the relationship between olfactory function for ten years. A personal function test was calculated from the Nagoya Women’s University study database, and the odor stick identification test and open essence identification test were administered to healthy young and elderly people. The participants were community dwellers who voluntarily participated in the Nagoya Women’s University Study and had managed everyday life by themselves. We combined data of 2018 and checked two kinds of the olfactometry result. These data were made from a consultation result list which was handed to a testee by hand. The test age was in his/her 80s from 40s and in his/her 20s from 10s. The data were compared according to the generation (young age is 20.1 ± 0.7 years old and old age is 74.5 ± 10.0 years old). We conducted two kinds of olfaction tests. The Odour Stick Identification Test (OSIT-J) was used to assess odour perception. This test possesses high reliability and validity. The OSIT-J includes 12 different odorants to be identified. The Odour Essence Identification Test was used to assess odour perception, too. It also includes 12 different odorants to be identified. We compared the answer of generation and compared the results of the two olfactory tests. As a result, there were no statistically significant differences in the total number of correct answers in young people and old people in the two olfactory test results. In addition, we compare young people and old people who increased the number of correct answer in the two kinds of olfactory examination, the same person, and those who decreased, but there was no statistically significant difference. However, there were statistically significant differences between India ink and perfume and Household (domestic) gas compared with young people and old people with two kinds of olfactory test results. Abstract: The Nagoya University Hospital otolaryngology department is doing the prospective cohort study in Yakumo-cho, Hokkaido, Japan from 2005, because this place is a little transfer of the population. Most of inhabitants of Yakumo-cho engage in fishery and agriculture as work mainly. We perform questionary survey using an interview vote. The item is “having feeling of dizziness or not”,“quality of hearing” and “having tinnitus or not”. Furthermore, we go for the examination of stabilometry, too. We compared 2015, 2017 with 2005, 2007 among Yakumo-cho inhabitant examination data this time. As a result, participant with a feeling of conscious dizziness got a bad reputation of the hearing consciously. In addition, participant with a feeling of conscious dizziness had tinnitus consciously. Furthermore, the participant with a feeling of conscious dizziness had bad stabilometry result. As a result of having compared ten years later, we understood that stabilometry result worsened if 60s became in 70s with or without a feeling of dizziness consciously. When there is a feeling of conscious dizziness, it is necessary to perform an examination of stabilometry as routine work. In addition, it is necessary to inspect stabilometry if participants have the bad hearing or tinnitus with a feeling of dizziness in particularly.

A reactor system combining reductive dechlorination with co-metabolic oxidation for complete degradation of tetrachloro-entylene

A laboratory sequential anaerobic aerobic bioreactor system, which consisted of an anaerobic fixed film reactor and two aerobic chemostats, was set up to degrade tetrachloroethylene (PCE) without accumulating highly toxic degradation intermediates. A soil enrichment culture, which could reductively dechlorinate 900 μM (ca. 150 mg/L) of PCE stoichiometrically into cis 1,2 dichloroethylene ( cis DCE), was attached to ceramic media in the anaerobic fixed film reactor. A phenol degrading strain, Alcaligenes sp. R5, which can efficiently degrade cis DCE by co metabolic oxidation, was used as inoculum for the aerobic chemostats consisted of a transformation reactor and a growth reactor. The anaerobic fixed film bioreactor showed more than 99 % of PCE transformation into cis DCE in the range of influent PCE concentration from 5 μM to 35 μM at hydraulic retention time of 48h. On the other hand, efficient degradation of the resultant cis DCE by strain R5 in the following aerobic system could not be achieved due to oxygen limitation. However, 54% of the maximum cis DCE degradation was obtained when 10 μmol of hydrogen peroxide (H 2O 2) was supplemented to the transformation reactor as an additional oxygen source. Further studies are needed to achieve more efficient co metabolic degradation of cis DCE in the aerobic reactor.

INFLUENCE OF THREAD PITCH ON LOAD DISTRIBUTION ON THREADED END OF PRESSURE CYLINDER

One of the design methods for closing the end of a pressure cylinder is to screw down a screw plug on the threaded end of the cylinder. In this case, there is the problem of stress concentration in the threaded end of the pressure cylinder. To solve the problem, it is necessary to know accurately the load distribution on the threaded end of the cylinder. To find the load distribution on the threaded end of the pressure cylinder engaged with the screw plug, the following experiments are carried out. Applying the tensile load between the screw plug and the pressure cylinder and regarding the situation above as equivalent to the situation in which the internal pressure is applied, the load distribution is measured with the strain gauge. The influence of thread pitch on the load distribution on the threaded end of the cylinder is presented and an optimum pitch for design is discussed.

Abiotic degradation of four phthalic acid esters in aqueous phase under natural sunlight irradiation

Abiotic degradability of four phthalic acid esters （PAEs） in the aquatic phase was evaluated over a wide pH range 5-9. The PAE solutions in glass test tubes were placed either in the dark and under the natural sunlight irradiation for evaluating the degradation rate via hydrolysis or photolysis plus hydrolysis, respectively, at ambient temperature for 140 d from autumn to winter in Osaka, Japan. The efficiency of abiotic degradation of the PAEs with relatively short alkyl chains, such as butylbenzyl phthalate （BBP） and di-nbutyl phthalate （DBP）, at neutral pH was significantly lower than that in the acidic or alkaline condition. Photolysis was considered to contribute mainly to the total abiotic degradation at all pH. Neither hydrolysis nor photolysis of di-ethylhexyl phthalate （DEHP） proceeded significantly at any pH, especially hydrolysis at neutral pH was negligible. On the other hand, the degradation rate of di- isononyl phthalate （DINP） catalyzed mainly by photolysis was much higher than those of the other PAEs, and was almost completely removed during the experimental period at pH 5 and 9. As a whole, according to the half-life （t1/2） obtained in the experiments, the abiotic degradability of the PAEs was in the sequence： DINP （32-140 d）〉 DBP （50-360 d）, BBP （58-480 d）〉 DEHP （390-1600 d） under sunlight irradiation （via photolysis plus hydrolysis）. Although the abiotic degradation rates for BBP, DBP, and DEHP are much lower than the biodegradation rates reported, the photolysis rate for DINP is comparable to its biodegradation rate in the acidic or alkaline condition.
