Along with the development of new materials, advanced medical imaging and surgical techniques, osseointegrated dental implants are considered a successful and constantly evolving treatment modality for the replacement of missing teeth in patients with complete or partial edentulism. The importance of restoring the peripheral neural feedback pathway and thus repairing the lack of periodontal rnechanoreceptors after tooth extraction has been highlighted in the literature. Nevertheless, regenerating the nerve fibers and reconstructing the neural feedback pathways around osseointegrated implants remain a challenge. Recent studies have provided evidence that platelet-rich plasma （PRP） therapy is a promising treatment for musculoskeletal injuries. Because of its high biological safety, convenience and usability, PRP therapy has gradually gained popularity in the clinical field Although much remains to be learned, the growth factors from PRP might play key roles in peripheral nerve repair mechanisms. This review presents known growth factors contributing to the biological efficacy of PRP and illustrates basic and （pre-）clinical evidence regarding the use of PRP and its relevant products in peripheral nerve regeneration. In addition, the potential of local application of PRP for structural and functional recovery of iniured peripheral nerves around dental implants is discussed.

Feasibility,efficacy,and safety of animal-assisted activities with visiting dogs in inpatient pediatric oncology

Background Childhood cancer entails a heavy burden for patients and their *** advances in overall survival rates have increasingly brought long-term quality of life into ***-assisted activities(AAAs)have long been hypothesized to alleviate the burden on pediatric patients and their peers in the hospital ***,their use in inpatient pediatric oncology has been a sensitive issue mainly due to the fear of infections,resulting in a lack of *** study presents data on the feasibility,safety,and efficacy of AAAs from a single German *** Between 2018 and 2022,60 patients(median age=10.3 years)diagnosed with malignancy and undergoing treatment were visited by an intervention dog(total visits=100).Patients were screened for infections as per hospital policy,with additional microbiological testing performed based on *** dog was screened for human pathogens and *** data and hospitalizations were analyzed from two months prior to the first visit until two months after the last *** of being in the hospital,both with and without planned animal-assisted interventions and pre-and post-intervention state stress,were measured using a validated visual analogue scale(0-10).Results Patients benefited from AAAs,showing increased acceptance of being in the hospital(median:7.25 vs.4.50,Pmedian state stress ratings one hour after the visit compared to one hour before the visit(1.00 vs.4.25,Pmber of infections or unplanned hospitalizations,and no zoonoses were *** microbial screening tests of the dog were *** AAAs with visiting dogs in inpatient pediatric oncology are feasible and *** they hold promise for enhancing patients’well-being,further prospective studies are needed.

Improved Quantile Convolutional and Recurrent Neural Networks for Electric Vehicle Battery Temperature Prediction

The battery thermal management of electric vehicles can be improved using neural networks predicting quantile sequences of the battery *** work extends a method for the development of Quantile Convolutional and Quantile Recurrent Neural Networks(namely Q*NN).Fleet data of 225629 drives are clustered and balanced,simulation data from 971 simulations are augmented before they are combined for training and *** Q*NN hyperparameters are optimized using an efficient Bayesian optimization,before the Q*NN models are compared with regression and quantile regression models for four *** analysis of point-forecast and quantile-related metrics shows the superior performance of the novel Q*NN *** median predictions of the best performing model achieve an average RmSE of 0.66°C and R^(2) of *** predicted 0.99 quantile covers 98.87%of the true values in the test *** conclusion,this work proposes an extended development and comparison of Q*NN models for accurate battery temperature prediction.

Effects of habitat configuration on biodiversity along gradients of forest cover on the Swiss Plateau

The negative effects of habitat loss on biodiversity are undisputed,while the effect of habitat configuration,i.e.,the spatial arrangement of habitat area,has been debated for *** develop a more comprehensive understanding,it is important to know when and how configuration *** this study,we tested whether forest configuration influences the richness of species in groups characterized by varying shade tolerance in different ways and how such effects are related to habitat amount(i.e.,the percentage of forest cover)at the landscape *** on 104 survey plots(each measuring 1km^(2))of vascular plants on the Swiss Plateau,and using two statistical approaches(i.e.,multiple regression and path analysis),we modeled the effects of habitat amount and configuration(measured as number of forest patches,total edge length,and proximity index)across all the plots and separately for three habitat amount classes:30%forest *** we modeled all plots together,we found that,after controlling for habitat amount,the forest configuration significantly affected species *** we considered the different habitat amount classes separately,most of the significant effects of habitat configuration on species richness occurred only for habitat amounts ofmong species with different shade *** forest area wasmber of patches and the total edge length on the species richness of light-demanding forest species were greater than the effect of habitat amount,whereas neither configuration metric affected the richness of shade-tolerant *** conclusion,our findings highlight the importance of configuration in landscapes with a small amount of *** the same time,they demonstrate that considering the confounding factors(*** traits)is important for understanding the effects of forest configuration on biodiversity and that genera

A review of control strategies used for morphing aircraft applications

This paper reviews the various control algorithms and strategies used for fixed-wing morphing aircraft applications. It is evident from the literature that the development of control algorithms for morphing aircraft technologies focused on three main areas. The first area is related to precise control of the shape of morphing concepts for various flight conditions. The second area is mainly related to the flight dynamics, stability, and control aspects of morphing aircraft. The third area deals mainly with aeroelastic control using morphing concepts either for load alleviation purposes and/or to control the instability boundaries. The design of controllers for morphing aircraft/wings is very challenging due to the large changes that can occur in the structural, aerodynamic, and inertial characteristics. In addition, the type of actuation system and actuation rate/speed can have a significant effect on the design of such controllers. The aerospace community is in strong need of such a critical review especially as morphing aircraft technologies move from fundamental research at a low Technology Readiness Level(TRL) to real-life applications. This critical review aims to identify research gaps and propose future directions. In this paper, research activities/papers are categorized according to the control strategy used. This ranges from simple Proportional Integral Derivative(PID) controllers at one end to complex robust adaptive controllers and deep learning algorithms at the other end. This includes analytical, computational, and experimental studies. In addition, the various dynamic models used and their fidelities are highlighted and discussed.
