Influences of Charcoal Amendment on Adsorption-Desorption of Isoproturon in Soils

In order to prevent pesticide leaching from soil, the effects of charcoal amendment on adsorption-desorption of isoproturon in soils were studied and the mechanisms in reducing the loss of isoproturon from soils were suggested. Adsorption-desorption of isoproturon in five different particle sizes of charcoals and three different soils were studied using batch equilibration technique. The results showed that the experimental data were well fitted by the Freundlich empirical equation. Charcoal had a great adsorption capacity for isoproturon, and the smaller the particle size of charcoal, the more the adsorption of isoproturon. The amendment with charcoal could greatly improve the adsorption of isoproturon in soils. The adsorption of isoproturon in soils increased with the rate of charcoal amended （r= 0.9568＊＊, P 〈 0.01）. Desorption of isoproturon from charcoals and soils showed significant hystersis which was shown by the higher adsorption slope （1/nsds） compared to the desorption slope （1/ndes. The hysteresis effects of charcoal on desorption of isoproturon were closely correlated with the content of charcoal in the soils, and the hysteresis index （H） increased with the rate of charcoal amended. Observation of environmental scanning electron microscopy （ESEM） exhibitted the fine pore structure and special surface characteristics of the tested charcoal. Analysis of Fourier transform infrared spectra （FTIR） of isoproturon adsorbed on charcoal suggested probable bonding interactions between isoproturon and charcoal. This research suggests that charcoal amendment may be an effective management practice for controlling pesticide desorption and leaching in soils.

We present a measurement campaign to characterize an indoor massive multiple-input multiple-output (miMO) channel system, using a 64-element virtual linear array, a 64-element virtual planar array, and a 128-element virtual planar array. The array topologies are generated using a 3D mechanical turntable. The measurements are conducted at 2, 4, 6, 11, 15, and 22 GHz, with a large bandwidth of 200 MHz. Both line-of-sight (LOS) and non-LOS (NLOS) propagation scenarios are considered. The typical channel parameters are extracted, including path loss,shadow fading, power delay profile, and root mean square (RMS) delay spread. The frequency dependence of these channel parameters is analyzed. The correlation between shadow fading and RMS delay spread is discussed. In addition, the performance of the standard linear precoder—the matched filter, which can be used for intersymbol interference (Isi) mitigation by shortening the RMS delay spread, is investigated. Other performance measures,such as entropy capacity, Demmel condition number, and channel ellipticity, are analyzed. The measured channels,which are in a rich-scattering indoor environment, are found to achieve a performance close to that in independent and identically distributed Rayleigh channels even in an LOS scenario.

Objective： To investigate the expressions of GSK-3beta, Beta-catenin and PPAR-gamma, and their relationship in medulloblastoma, and to explore their value in clinic application. Methods： Immunohistochemical staining with SP method was conducted to determine the expressions of GSK-3beta, Beta-catenin and PPAR-gamma in 48 cases of medulloblastoma and 10 normal cerebellar tissues. Results： The rate of abnormal expressions of beta-catenin and PPAR-gamma in MB was higher than that in normal. Conversely, GSK-3beta in MB was lower than that in the normal （P〈0.05）. Furthermore, in medulloblastoma, beta-catenin and GSK-3beta showed a negative correlation, PPAR-gamma and beta-catenin had a positive correlation. Conclusion： Abnormal expression of beta-catenin plays a crucial role in the development of medulloblastoma. Meanwhile, PPAR-gamma and GSK-3beta which are tightly related with beta-catenin are both involved in the genesis and development of medulloblastoma.

Due to pollution in second water supply system (SWSS),nine renovation alternative plans were proposed and com-prehensive evaluations of different plan based on Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) were presented in this paper. Comparisons of advantages and disadvantages among the plans of SWSS renovations provided solid foundation for selecting the most appro-priate plan for engineering projects. In addition,a mathematical model of the optimal combination of renovation plans has been set up and software Lingo was used to solve the model. As a case study,the paper analyzed 15 buildings in Tianjin City. After simulation of the SWSS renovation system,an optimal scheme was obtained,the result of which indicates that 10 out of those 15 buildings need be renovated in priority. The renovation plans selected for each building are the ones ranked higher in the com-prehensive analysis. The analysis revealed that the optimal scheme,compared with two other randomly calculated ones,increased the percentage of service population by 19.6% and 13.6% respectively,which significantly improved social and economical benefits.

Background A reliable and repeatable post-processing technology of improving the performance of 1.3 GHz superconducting radio frequency(SRF)cavities is one of the critical technologies for the ILC and XFEL and ERL *** Three 1.3 GHz single-cell cavities were fabricated and received a baking in temperature 330℃,while the interior of the cavity stayed in ultra-high vacuum(UHV).The cavities were also vertical-tested after electropolishing(EP)with 120℃48-h baking and with nitrogen doping separately for a *** The Q_(0) of 1.3 GHz single cavity after medium-temperature baking can be 2-3×10^(10) in the accelerating gradient range of 2-35 MV/m in the 2 K vertical test in ***,the outer surface oxidation of niobium cavity caused by baking will decrease the performance of the SRF *** Medium-temperature(250-400℃)baking on the 1.3 GHz single-cell cavity will improve its Q_(0) in 2 K vertical test compared with EP followed by 120℃48-h baking baseline and reach a similar level of nitrogen doping,and the quench field will lower to a typical range of 20-30 MV/***,the cavity performance is sensitive to the baking time and temperature,which indicates that a tremendous improvement can be made on the current treatment.

This study investigated the formation and emission characteristics of nitric oxide(NO) from flameless miLD(moderate or intensive low-oxygen dilution) combustion(miLDC) versus traditional visible-flame combustion(TC) in a 30-k W furnace. Both combustion processes were experimentally operated successively in the same furnace, burning natural gas at a fixed rate of 19 k W and the equivalence ratio of 0.86. Numerical simulations of TC and miLDC were carried out to explain their distinction in the measured furnace temperature and exhaust NO emissions. Present measurements of the NO emission(XNO) versus a varying furnace wall temperature(Tw) have revealed, at the first time, that the relationship of XNO ~ Tw was exponential in both TC and miLDC. By analyzing the simulated results, the average temperature over the reaction zone was identified to be the common characteristic temperature for scaling NO emissions of both cases. Moreover, relative to TC, miLDC had a fairly uniform temperature distribution and low peak temperature, thus reducing the NO emission by over 90%. The thermal-NO formation was found to contribute more than 70%-80% to the total XNO from TC while the N2O-intermediate route dominated the NO emission from miLDC.

This paper investigates the hydrodynamic characteristics of floating truncated cylinders undergoing horizontal and vertical motions due to earthquake excitations in the finite water *** governing equation of the hydrodynamic pressure acting on the cylinder is derived based on the radiation theory with the inviscid and incompressible *** governing equation is solved by using the method of separating variables and analytical solutions are obtained by assigning reasonable boundary *** analytical result is validated by a numerical model using the exact artificial boundary simulation of the infinite *** main variation and distribution characteristics of the hydrodynamic pressure acting on the side and bottom of the cylinder are analyzed for different combinations of wide-height and immersion *** added mass coefficient of the cylinder is calculated by integrating the hydrodynamic pressure and simplified formulas are proposed for engineering *** calculation results show that the simplified formulas are in good agreement with the analytical solutions.
