Subsurface multi-physical characterization of mountain excavation and city construction in loess plateau with a fiber-optic sensing system

Mountain excavation and city construction(MECC)projects being launched in the Loess Plateau in China involve the creation of large-scale artificial *** the subsurface evolution characteristics of the artificial land is essential,yet ***,we use an improved fiber-optic monitoring system for its subsurface multi-physical *** system enables us to gather spatiotemporal distribution of various parameters,including strata deformation,temperature,and ***’an New District was selected as a case study to conduct refined in-situ monitoring through a 77 m-deep borehole and a 30 m-long *** reveal that the ground settlement involves both the deformation of the filling loess and the underlying intact ***,the filling loess exhibits a stronger creep capability compared to underlying intact *** deformation along the profile is unevenly distributed,with a positive correlation with soil *** accumulation has been observed at the interface between the filling loess and the underlying intact loess,leading to a significant ***,the temperature and moisture in the filling loess have reached a new equilibrium state,with their depths influenced by atmospheric conditions measuring at 31 m and 26 m,*** refined investigation allows us to identify critical layers that matter the sustainable development of newly created urban areas,and provide improved insights into the evolution mechanisms of land creation.

Dear Editor,At the end of the 3^(rd)month of embryonic development,the normal prostate derives from a series of endodermal buds from the lining of the future prostatic urethra.1 Ectopic prostatic tissue(EPT)is defined as the presence of prostatic tissue at sites other than expected.2 The precise origin of EPT is not entirely *** theories have been proposed for this phenomenon,including migration and misplacement of normal tissue,persistent embryological remnants,and metaplasia of the transitional epithelium.1 EPT is relatively rare,and mostly occurs in the lower male genitourinary tract and occasionally in the female genitourinary tract.3 EPT symptoms are nonspecific,e.g.,hematuria,elevated urinary frequency,and nocturia.3 Heretofore,EPT cases at the bladder have been reported in literature,involving the bladder neck,trigone,interureteric ridge,and dome.2,4 However,to our knowledge,no study has described an EPT at the bladder trigone accompanied by cystitis glandularis(CG)and hemorrhage,detected by multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).This case report suggests that multiparametric MRI could provide valuable imaging data for preoperative diagnosis of EPT.

Oxygen-glucose deprivation regulates BACE1 expression through induction of autophagy in Neuro-2a/APP695 cells

Our previous findings have demonstrated that autophagy regulation can alleviate the decline of learning and memory by eliminating deposition of extracellular beta-amyloid peptide （Aβ） in the brain after stroke, but the exact mechanism is unclear. It is presumed that the regulation of beta-site APP-deaving enzyme 1 （BACE1）, the rate-limiting enzyme in metabolism of Aβ, would be a key site. Neuro-2a/amyloid precursor protein 695 （APP695） cell models of cerebral isch- emia were established by oxygen-glucose deprivation to investigate the effects of Rapamycin （an autophagy inducer） or 3-methyladenine （an autophagy inhibitor） on the expression of BACE1. Either oxygen-glucose deprivation or Rapamycin down-regulated the expression of BACE1 while 3-methyladenine up-regulated BACE1 expression. These results confirm that oxygen-glucose deprivation down-regulates BACE1 expression in Neuro-2a/APP695 cells through the introduction of autophagy.

Baseline Hepatitis B Virus DNA Level is a Promising Factor for Predicting the 3^rd Month Virological Response to Entecavir Therapy： A Study of Strict Defined Hepatitis B virus Induced Cirrhosis

Background： Cirrhosis is a common complication of chronic hepatitis B. It remains unclear if viral and biochemical parameters at baseline affect virological response to entecavir and therefore warrant investigation. In the present study, we aimed to eval uate the efficacy of entecavir therapy by monitoring virological response at the end of the 3^rd month of treatment and try to figure out whether baseline factors could help predict it in a cohort of hepatitis B virus （HBV） compensated cirrhosis patients and to determine the cut-off value of a predicting parameter.Methods： A total of 91 nucleos（t）ide-naive patients with HBV induced cirrhosis （compensatory stage） were enrolled in a prospective cohort. HBV DNA and alanine aminotransferase （ALT） were tested at baseline and monitored every 3-6 months after starting therapy. Results： Of all 91 patients, the median follow-up time was 12 （9-24） months. Overall, 64 patients （70.3%） achieved virological response in the 3^rd month. Univariate analysis showed that the 3^rd month virological response can be predicted by baseline HBV DNA levels （P 〈 0.001, odds ratio [OR]： 2.13, 95% confidence interval [CI]： 1.44-3.15）, ALT value （P = 0.023, OR： 1.01, 95% CI： 1.00 1.01 ） and hepatitis B e antigen （HBeAg） negativity （P = 0.016, OR： 0.30, 95% CI： 0.11-0.80）. Multiple regression analysis showed baseline H BV DNA level was the only parameter related to full virological response. Higher baseline HBV DNA strata indicated a higher probability that HBV DNA remains detectable at the 3^rd month （P = 0.001）. Area under receiver operating characteristic curve for determining the 3^rd month virological response by baseline HBV DNA was 77.6% （95% CI： 66.7-85.2%）, with a best cut-offvalue of 5.8 log10. Conclusions： Baseline HBV DNA, HBeAg negativity, and ALT were independent factors contributing to virological response at the 3^rt month. Further, multiple regression showed that HBV DNA level was the only parameter predicting full virolog

Numerical study on the effective thermal conductivity and thermal tortuosity of porous media with different morphologies

Effective thermal conductivity and thermal tortuosity are crucial parameters for evaluating the effectiveness of heat conduction within porous *** direct pore-scale numerical simulation method is applied to investigate the heat conduction processes inside porous structures with different *** thermal conduction performances of idealized porous structures are directly compared with real foams across a wide range of *** foam structures are reconstructed using X-ray computed tomography and image processing techniques,while Kelvin and Weaire-Phelan structures are generated through periodic unit cell *** detailed temperature fields inside the porous structures are determined by solving the heat conduction equation at the pore *** results present that the equivalent thermal conductivity of Kelvin and Weaire-Phelan structures is similar to and greater than that of the real foam structure with the same strut *** thermal tortuosity of real foam structure is relatively larger and the heat conduction path becomes straighter by adopting the anisotropic *** thermal tortuosity of the fluid channels for Kelvin,Weaire-Phelan,and real foam structures is close to *** thermal conductivity of porous structures with heat transfer fluid increases as the thermal conductivity ratio of fluid to solid becomes larger.A small porosity of porous media leads to a larger equivalent thermal conductivity due to the dominant contribution of porous skeleton in the heat conduction *** derived from parallel and series models,as well as the Maxwell-Eucken models,provide decent predictions of effective thermal conductivity,with an average error of less than 8%in the entire range of thermal conductivity ratio.

Natural marmatite photocatalyst for treatment of mineral processing wastewater to help zero wastewater discharge

Mineral processing wastewater(MPW)with large discharge and high toxicity affects environmental safety,and the realizing zero discharge of MPW is of great significance for reducing environmental pollution,saving water resources,and promoting the sustainable development of the mining *** this study,we reported natural marmatite(NM)as a low-cost and efficient photocatalyst for the treatment of MPW to help zero wastewater *** photocatalytic activity of NM was evaluated by the removal of total organic carbon(TOC)from MPW under visible-light illumination,and the optimal degradation conditions were *** showed that superoxide free radicals(^(·)O_(2)^(-))were the dominant active species responsible for organic pollutants degradation,and 74.25%TOC removal was obtained after 120 min reaction under the optimum treatment ***,the wastewater treated by NM photocatalysis can be reused in the flotation system without adverse impact on the product *** on these findings,a model of zero wastewater discharge for flotation with the help of photocatalytic treatment was established,it indicated that the water of the whole system can be balanced without affecting the ore dressing index,which showed that visible light-driven photocatalyst has a promising application prospect in the treatment and recycling of industrial wastewater.

Aeroengine thrust estimation and embedded verification based on improved temporal convolutional network

Thrust estimation is a significant part of aeroengine thrust control *** traditional estimation methods are either low in accuracy or large in *** further improve the estimation effect,a thrust estimator based on Multi-layer Residual Temporal Convolutional Network(M-RTCN)is *** solve the problem of dead Rectified Linear Unit(ReLU),the proposed method uses the Gaussian Error Linear Unit(GELU)activation function instead of ReLU in residual *** the overall architecture of the multi-layer convolutional network is adjusted by using residual connections,so that the network thrust estimation effect and memory consumption are further ***,the comparison with seven other methods shows that the proposed method has the advantages of higher estimation accuracy and faster convergence ***,six neural network models are deployed in the embedded controller of the micro-turbojet *** Hardware-in-the-Loop(HIL)testing results demonstrate the superiority of M-RTCN in terms of estimation accuracy,memory occupation and running ***,an ignition verification is conducted to confirm the expected thrust estimation and real-time performance.
