Exposure to ionizing radiation,a physical treatment that inactivates live tumor cells,has been extensively applied to enhance the antitumor responses induced by cancer cell vaccines in both animal research and human clinical ***,the mechanisms by which irradiated cells function as immunogenic tumor vaccines and induce effective antitumor responses have not been fully ***,we demonstrate that oxidized mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)and stimulator of interferon genes(STING)signaling play a key roles in the enhanced antitumor effect achieved with an irradiated tumor cell *** in ROS and oxidized mtDNA 8-OHG content could be induced in irradiated tumor *** mtDNA derived from irradiated tumor cells gained access to the cytosol of dendritic cells(DCs).Oxidized mtDNA,as a DAMP or adjuvant,activated the STING-TBK1-IRF3-IFN-β pathway in DCs,which subsequently cross-presented irradiated tumor cell-derived antigens to CD8^(+)T cells and elicited antitumor *** results of our study provide insight into the mechanism by which an irradiated cell vaccine mediates antitumor immunity,which may have implications for new strategies to improve the efficacy of irradiated vaccines.

This study aimed to exploit a new virtual block method to spare normal lung tissue in VMAT planning for patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer(LA-NSCLC).The previous method was used to manually restrict the angle of the beam passing through,which ignored the location and shape of large targets that varied between different slices and did not block the beamlets *** the previous method,this new virtual block method was used to block the beamlets when necessary by closing the multi-leaf collimator(MLC)at prerequisite *** algorithm for closing the MLC depended on the thickness of the beamlets passing through the lungs and avoided only the entrance radiation ***,this block can be automatically contoured.A retrospective study was performed to compare the VMAT plans with and without the virtual block method for 17 LANSCLC patients,named the block plan(B-plan)/non-block plan(N-plan).All cases were selected in this study because of the large tumor size and unmet dose constraints of the *** addition to the maximum dose constraint for the virtual block,B-plans adopted identical optimization parameters to N-plans for each *** two types of plans were compared in terms of dosimetric indices and plan *** results were statistically analyzed using the Wilcoxon nonparametric signed-rank test.B-plans have advantages in the following dosimetric metrics that have statistical significance(p<0.05):(1)lower V_(5)/V_(10)/D_(mean)/normal tissue complication probability(NTCP)of total lungs;(2)reductions in V_(5)/V_(10)for the contralateral lung;(3)decrease in Dmean/V_(40)of the heart;(4)decrease in esophagus V_(40);(5)reductions in Dmean,V_(5)/V_(10) of normal tissue.B-plans(82.51±7.07)achieved higher-quality scores than N-plans(80.74±7.22).The new virtual block spared the lungs as well as other normal structures in VMAT planning for ***,the block method may decrease the risk of radiation-related toxicity in p

The effect of Ni addition on the glass-forming ability (GFA) and soft-magnetic properties of an (Fe1-xNix)75.5B14.5P7Nb3 (x=0-0.6) alloy system were investigated. We found that the addition of Ni was effective in allowing the alloy to approach a eutectic point as well as increasing the thermal stability of the supercooled liquid. By increasing the amount of Ni,the supercooled liquid region (ΔTx),the reduced glass transition temperature Trg (Tg/Tl) and the Y parameter [Tx/(Tg+Tl)] increased from 49 to 75 K,0.540 to 0.594 and 0.373 to 0.405,respectively. As a result,novel (Fe1-xNix)75.5B14.5P7Nb3 bulk metallic glass (BMG) rods with a maximum diameter of 1 mm were synthesized with a composition of x=0.5 and x=0.6 by copper mold casting. These metallic glasses have a moderate saturation magnetization of 0.37-1.20 T with good soft-magnetic properties,i.e. a low coercivity of 1.4-3.3 A/m and a high effective permeability of 13100-20900 at 1 kHz. The simultaneous achievement of a high GFA and good soft-magnetic properties for the FeNi-based alloy system is promising for the future development of BMGs.

Characterization of Catalytic Cracking Catalysts Regenerated by Gasifying Deposited Coke

Partially or fully regenerated catalytic cracking catalysts were prepared by gasifying the coke deposited on coked catalysts with a gaseous mixture of oxygen and steam in a fixed fluidized bed （FFB）. The resultant samples were characterized by different methods such as the nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis, the X-ray diffractometry, the infrared spectroscopy, the ammonia temperature-programmed desorption （NH3-TPD） method, the X-ray fluorescence （XRF） analysis, the transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （TEM-EDX）, the thermal-gravimetric analysis （TGA） and the differential thermal analysis （DTA）. The results showed that exposure of catalyst to steam for about 10 minutes at temperature ≥ 800 ℃ could not cause too much destruction of the catalysts, and an amount of coke equating to about 0.27 m% was enough to block approximately all acid sites in micro-pores of the zeolite catalyst. Coke didn＇t show equal reactivity during coke burning-off that could be accelerated by the catalytic action of nearby metal atoms. However, when the carbon content on the catalyst reached about 2.44 m%, the catalytic action of metals on the catalyst was not evident. The severe thermal and hydrothermal environment during exposure of the catalyst to steam at a temperature in the range of about 860--880 ℃ for 30 minutes could lead to collapse of pore structure and transformation of crystal phase and consequently decrease of the surface area and acid amount on the catalyst.

Shear bands play a key role in the plastic deformation of metallic glasses（MGs）.Even though there are extensive studies on the initiation and propagation of shear bands,the interactions among them have not been systematically studied *** interactions between the primary shear bands（PSBs）and secondary shear bands（SSBs）in a ductile Zr-based MG were *** residual stress near PSBs can deflect the propagation direction and reduce the propagation velocity of SSBs,which contributes to the plasticity and toughness of the *** was demonstrated that the probability and strength of the interactions between PSBs and SSBs would become stronger for MGs with larger Young′s modulus and smaller shear modulus,i.e.,larger Poisson′s *** results are valuable in understanding the plastic deformation of MGs and may be helpful in designing new MGs with desirable mechanical properties.

Ag-28Cu-8Sn(wt%)alloy is a widely used brittle silver-based brazing filler *** wire of brazing filler metal was prepared by continuous casting process and dieless drawing *** phase structure was measured by X-ray diffraction(XRD),and the microstructure of wetting interface,cast states,processing states and fracture morphologies were characterized by the optical microscopy(OM)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM),*** electrical conductivity,hardness,tensile strength and elongation rate were tested as ***,the solid-liquid phase temperature was measured by a differential scanning calorimeter(DSC),and the wettability of brazing filler metal was tested by spreading *** outcomes obtained show that the as-cast microstructure is a typical three-zone structure,including region of surface fine grain,zone of columnar grain and region of center equiaxed ***-28Cu-8Sn alloy is mainly composed of Ag-rich a-phase,Cu-rich pphase and intermediate *** refinement appears in the cross section,as for grains of the longitudinal section,the shape is changed from ribbon to fiber to form a silk *** strength and hardness improve with the increase in the true strain,while the conductivity and elongation are ***,the solid-phase temperature is 605.9℃,and the liquid-phase temperature is 725.1℃.The spreading area of Ag-28Cu-8Sn brazing filler metal is 174 mm^2,and the metallurgical bonding occurs between Ag-28Cu-8Sn brazing filler metal and Cu *** addition,compared with cold drawing process,there are not any microcracks at the fracture morphology for the alloy fabricated by dieless *** dieless drawing process overcomes some processing defects of traditional cold drawing,and the processing performance of Ag-28Cu-8Sn alloy is improved.

The tumor suppressor gene liver kinase B1 （LKB1）, also called STKll, encodes a serine/threonine kinase. LKB1 plays crucial roles in cell differentiation, proliferation, and polarity. In this study, LKB1 conditional knockout mice （LKB1pax2 CKO mice） were generated using Pax2-Cre mice to investigate the function of LKB1 in inner ear hair cells during early embryonic period. LKB1Pax2 CKO mice died perinatally. Immunofluorescence and scanning electron microscopy revealed that stereociliary bundles in LKB1Pax2 CKO mice were clustered and misoriented, respectively. Moreover, ectopic distribution of kinocilium bundles resulting from abnormal migration of kinocilium was observed in the mutant mice. The orientation of stereociliary bundles and the migration of kinocilia are critical indicators of planar cell polarity （PCP） of hair cells. LKB1 deficiency in LKB1Pax2 CKO mice thus disrupted hair cell planar polarity during embryonic development. Our results suggest that LKB1 is required in PCP formation in cochlear hair cells in mice.

Halogen atoms affect the budget of ozone and the fate of pollutants such as hydrocarbons and *** their sources and significances in polluted continental regions are poorly understood. Here we report the observation of unprecedented levels(averaging at 60 parts per trillion) of bromine chloride(Br Cl) at a mid-latitude site in North China during winter. Widespread coal burning in rural households and a photo-assisted process were the primary source of BrCl and other bromine gases. BrCl contributed about55% of both bromine and chlorine atoms. The halogen atoms increased the abundance of ‘conventional’tropospheric oxidants(OH, HO2and RO2) by 26%–73%, and enhanced oxidation of hydrocarbon by nearly a factor of two and the net ozone production by 55%. Our study reveals the significant role of reactive halogen in winter atmospheric chemistry and the deterioration of air quality in continental regions where uncontrolled coal combustion is prevalent.
