Objective: To evaluate the anti-inflammatory property of both glycyrrhizic acid(GA)and glabridin in reducing inflammation to accelerate wound regeneration on 3T3-L1 and NIH-3T3 fibroblast cell ***: Cell proliferation and viability assay(MTT assay), scratch wound healing assays,and quantitative real-time PCR were conducted to investigate the effects on cell proliferation,cell migration, and expression of CXC chemokine ligand 5 inflammation gene ***: Results showed that at a low concentration of 1 × 10^(-8)mol/L, glabridin down regulated cell proliferation in NIH-3T3 significantly, suggesting its involvement in ERK1/2 signaling pathway. GA and glabridin significantly accelerated cell migration through wound healing in both 3T3-L1 and NIH-3T3 and significantly down regulated the expression of CXC chemokine ligand 5 in 3T3-L1 at concentration 1 × 10^(-8)mol/L,indicating the possible involvement of nuclear factor-k B and cyclooxygenase 2 transcriptions ***: Both GA and glabridin can serve as potential treatment for chronic inflammatory disease, and glabridin as an oncogenic inhibitor due to its anti-proliferative property.

synchronous colorectal carcinoma refers to more than one primary colorectal carcinoma detected in a single patient at initial presentation. A literature review has shown that the prevalence of the disease is approximately 3.5% of all colorectal carcinomas. This disease has a male to female ratio of 1.8:1. The mean age at presentation of patients with synchronous colorectal cancer is in the early half of the seventh decade. Patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer, familial adenomatous polyposis and serrated polyps/hyperplastic polyposis are known to have a higher risk of synchronous colorectal carcinoma. These predisposing factors account for slightly more than 10% of synchronous colorectal carcinomas. synchronous colorectal carcinoma is more common in the right colon when compared to solitary colorectal cancer. On pathological examination, some synchronous colorectal carcinomas are mucinous adenocarcinomas. They are usually associated with adenomas and metachronous colorectal carcinomas. Most of the patients with synchronous colorectal cancer have two carcinomas but up to six have been reported in one patient. Patients with synchronous colorectal carcinoma have a higher proportion of microsatellite instability cancer than patients with a solitary colorectal carcinoma. Also, limited data have revealed that in many synchronous colorectal carcinomas, carcinomas in the same patient have different patterns of microsatellite instability status, p53 mutation and K-ras mutation. Overall, the prognosis of patients with synchronous colorectal carcinoma is not significantly different from that in patients with solitary colorectal carcinoma, although a marginally better prognosis has been reported in patients with synchronous colorectal carcinoma in some series. The District of Columbia currently uses the standard pedestrian warning signs and diagonal arrow plaques at a substantial number of uncontrolled crosswalks within the ***, the widespread use of these measures appears to be ineffective in curbing the incidence of pedestrian involved crashes or pedestrian-vehicle conflicts. To compensate for the perceived lack of effectiveness of the standard pedestrian warning sign the District Department of Transportation developed a new side-of-street crossing sign to improve driver compliance based on pedestrian right-of-way *** study was aimed at determining the effectiveness(defined as the proportion of drivers approaching a crosswalk who stop or yield the right of way to a pedestrian in the crosswalk) of the experimental side-of-street pedestrian crossing sign compared to the standard sign, with and without rectangular rapid flashing beacons. Effectiveness of the side-of-street pedestrian sign and standard sign were observed at a total of 32 locations in the District over a one-year period using the “control” and “experimental” comparison approach. Video data for each location was obtained from March 2018 through February 2019 during typical weekdays for the morning and afternoon peak periods. The results of the study showed that the experimental signs with RRFBs provided higher driver compliance rates(yielding to pedestrians) compared to the standard signs for both the morning and afternoon peak periods. However, the differences in compliance rates for the experimental and standard signs were not statistically significant at a 95% confidence *** evaluation of the signs is recommended using the “before” and “after” approach in addition to an assessment of crash statistics at the selected locations.

Human settlement and agricultural development are closely linked to local geomorphological and climatic ***,the variation in agricultural systems in different environmental and prehistoric contexts remains *** report new archaeobotanical and radiocarbon dates from 34 Neolithic and Bronze Age sites in the Hutuo River Valley(HTRV)in north-central China and compare them with updated archaeobotanical studies in the sushui River Valley(ssRV)and Henan Province(HNP),to explore the similarities and differences of agricultural patterns under different geomorphologic and climatic environments in north-central *** results reveal that humans consistently cultivated foxtail and broomcorn millet in the HTRV from the Miaodigou(6000–5700 cal.a BP)to the shang-Zhou(3600–2256 cal.a BP)period,despite the introduction of wheat and barley into the area around 4000 a *** conditions and hilly landforms in the HTRV,ssRV and some parts of the HNP led people to develop foxtail and broomcorn millet dry land farming practices between 7000 and 3000 a ***,in other areas of the HNP,the climate conditions and alluvial plains enabled people to develop a mixed agriculture of millets,soybeans,and rice from 7000 to 4000 a BP,with the addition of wheat between 4000 and 3000 a ***’different agricultural technologies and interactions with foreign cultures may have also influenced the formation of different agricultural patterns in the three regions between 7000 and 3000 a *** growth during 7000–3000 a BP can explain the overall propensity of the higher-yield foxtail millet rather than broomcorn millet as the main cultivated *** the HTRV,however,higher proportions of broomcorn millet(as compared to the ssRV and HNP),may reflect the greater drought and heat tolerance of broomcorn millet,representing an adaptive agricultural strategy in the river valley.

Takayasu's arteritis and Crohn's disease are chronic in-flammatory diseases of uncertain aetiology. They rarely occur together, with only twenty nine cases of co-ex-istent Takayasu's arteritis and Crohn's disease reported in the literature. In 88% of these cases, Takayasu's arteritis was diagnosed simultaneously or following a diagnosis of Crohn's disease. We present a case of a young Caucasian medical student, incidentally found to have bilateral carotid bruits on auscultation by a colleague. Magnetic resonance angiography revealed stenoses of the common carotid arteries with estab-lished collaterals, and a diagnosis of Type 1 Takayasu's arteritis was made. An 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography scan revealed no active disease. Nine months later, she presented with a short history of abdominal pain, vomiting and abdominal disten-sion. Barium follow-through and computer tomography revealed a terminal ileal stricture and proximal small bowel dilation. An extended right hemicoloectomy was performed and histopathology supported a diagnosis of Crohn's disease. This case report is presented with a particular focus on the temporal relationship between these two disease processes and explores whether their concurrence is more than just co-incidence.

Agricultural crop abandonment negatively impacts local economy and environment since land,as a resource for agriculture,is not optimally *** take necessary actions to rehabilitate abandoned agricultural lands,the identification of the spatial distribution of these lands must be *** optical images had previously illustrated potentials in the identification of agricultural land abandonment,tropical areas often suffer cloud coverage problem that limits the availability of the ***,this study was conducted to investigate the potential of ALOs-1 and 2(Advanced Land Observing satellite-1 and 2)PALsAR(Phased Array L-band synthetic Aperture Radar)images for the identification and classification of abandoned agricultural crop areas,namely paddy,rubber and oil palm *** crop phenology for paddy and rubber was identified from ALOs-1 PALsAR;nonetheless,oil palm did not demonstrate any useful phenology for discriminating between the abandoned *** accuracy obtained for these abandoned lands of paddy,rubber and oil palm was 93.33%±0.06%,78%±2.32%and 63.33%±1.88%,*** study confirmed that the understanding of crop phenology in relation to image date selection is essential to obtain high accuracy for classifying abandoned and non-abandoned agricultural *** finding also portrayed that PALsAR offers a huge advantage for application of vegetation in tropical areas.
