this paper examines the transport analysis, including both heat transfer and mass transfer, in hybrid nanofluid flow containing gyrotactic microorganisms towards a curved oscillatory surface. the influence of magnetic fields is also inspected in terms of their physical characteristics. to depict the phenomena of transport, modified versions of both Fick's and Fourier's laws are used. Additionally, the characteristics of both heterogeneous and homogeneous chemical reactions are also incorporated. Utilizing a curvilinear coordinate system, the flow problem is formulated as partial differential equations(PDEs)for momentum, concentration, microorganism field, and energy. An analytical solution to the obtained flow equations is achieved utilizing the homotopy analysis method(HAm).the effects of significant flow parameters on the pressure and microorganism fields, velocity, oscillation velocity, concentration, and temperature distributions are shown via graphs. Furthermore, the variations in skin friction, mass transfer rate, heat transfer rate, and local motile number due to different involved parameters are presented in tables and are analyzed in detail. Graphical results indicate that the curves of velocity and temperature fields are enhanced as the values of the solid volume fraction variables *** is also verified that the concentration rate field decreases as the values of the homogeneous reaction strength parameter and the radius of curvature parameter increase, and it increases with the Schmidt number and the heterogeneous reaction strength *** outcomes show a favorable response of the motile number to advanced values of the Peclet number, the Schmidt number, the microorganism difference parameter, and the bio-convective Lewis number.

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common cause of cancer-related death in Saudi Arabia. Our study aimed to investigate the patterns of HCC and the effect of tNm staging, Alfa-fetoprotein (AFP), and Child-turcotte Pugh (CtP) on patients' overall survival (OS).methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 43 HCC patients at a single oncology center in Saudi Arabia from 2015 to 2020. All patients had to fulfill one of the following criteria: (a) a liver lesion reported as definitive HCC on dynamic imaging and/or (b) a biopsy-confirmed diagnosis.Results:the mean patient age of all HCC cases was 66.8 with a male-to-female ratio of 3.3:1. All patients were stratified into two groups: viral HCC (n = 22, 51%) and non-viral HCC (n = 21, 49%). Among viral-HCC patients, 55% were due to HBV and 45% due to HCV. Cirrhosis was diagnosed in 79% of cases. Age and sex did not significantly statistically differ in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients (-value > 0.05). About 65% of patients had tumor size >5 cm during the diagnosis, with a significant statistical difference in OS (-value = 0.027). AFP was >400 ng/ml in 45% of the patients. there was a statistically significant difference in the OS in terms of AFP levels (-value = 0.021). A statistically significant difference was also observed between the CtP score and OS (-value = 0.02). CtP class B had the longest survival. BSC was the most common treatment provided to HCC patients followed by sorafenib therapy. there was a significant statistical difference in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients (-value = 0.008).Conclusions:the most common predictors for OS were the underlying cause of HCC, AFP, and tumor size. Being having non-viral etiology, a tumor size >5 cm, an AFP > 400 ng/mL, and a CtP score class C were all negatively associated with OS.

In the present study, the free vibration of laminated functionally graded carbon nanotube reinforced composite beams is analyzed. the laminated beam is made of perfectly bonded carbon nanotubes reinforced composite (CNtRC) layers. In each layer, single-walled carbon nanotubes are assumed to be unifonnly distributed (UD) or functionally graded (FG) distributed along the thickness direction. Effective material properties of the two-phase composites, a mixture of carbon nanotubes (CNts) and an isotropic polymer, are calculated using the extended nile of mixture. the first-order shear deformation theory is used to formulate a governing equation for predicting free vibration of laminated functionally graded carbon nanotubes reinforced composite (FG?CNtRC) beams. the governing equation is solved by the finite element method with various boundary conditions. Several numerical tests are perfbnned to investigate the influence of the CNts volume fractions, CNts distributions, CNts orientation angles, boundary conditions, length-to-thickness ratios and the numbers of layers on the frequencies of the laminated FG-CNtRC beams. moreover, a laminated composite beam combined by various distribution types of CNts is also studied.

Light is arguably the most convement non-invasive stimulant to perturb or control specinc cnemical reactions in the biological systems. Upon light illumination, photosensitive molecules incur conformational changes or formation/breaking of chemical bonds. Consequently, these molecules can be used to transfer signals from one location to another in the cell, from outside of the cell to the inside, or from a light bulb to the interior of animal tissues. the development of the photochemical reactions of organic compounds has paved the road towards their use in peptides and peptide-based biological applications. In this mini-review, we summarized the state-of-the-art development of photo-protecting groups for peptide photocaging including the un-caging mechanism of different PPGs, the synthesis of photo-caged peptides, and the recent applications of peptide photocaging in chemical biology.

mid-Devonian high-pressure(HP)and high-temperature(Ht)metamorphism represents an enigmatic early phase in the evolution of the Variscan *** the Bohemian massif this metamorphism is recorded mostly in allochthonous complexes with uncertain relationship to the major tectonic *** this regard,the mariánskéLázně Complex(mLC)is unique in its position at the base of its original upper plate(teplá-Barrandian Zone).the mLC is composed of diverse,but predominantly mafic,magmatic-metamorphic rocks with late Ediacaran to mid-Devonian protolith ***-Devonian HP eclogite-facies metamorphism was swiftly followed by a Ht granulite-facies overprint contemporaneous with the emplacement of magmatic rocks with apparent supra-subduction *** Hf in zircon isotopic measurements combined with a review of whole-rock isotopic and geochemical data reveals that the magmatic protoliths of the mLC,as well as in the upper plate teplá-Barrandian Zone,developed above a relatively unaltered Neoproterozoic lithospheric *** remained coupled with this lithospheric mantle throughout a geological timeframe that encompasses separate Ediacaran and Cambrian age arc magmatism,protracted early Paleozoic rifting,and the earliest phases of the Variscan *** results are presented in the context of reconstructing the original architecture of the Variscan terranes up to and including the mid-Devonian HP-Ht event.

Northern peatlands store nearly one-third of terrestrial carbon(C)stocks while covering only 3%of the global landmass;nevertheless,the drivers of C cycling in these often-waterlogged ecosystems are different from those that control C dynamics in upland forested *** explore how multiple abiotic and biotic characteristics of bogs interact to shape microbial activity in a northern,forested bog,we added a labile C tracer(13C-labeled starch)to in situ peat mesocosms and correlated heterotrophic respiration with natural variation in several microbial predictor variables,such as enzyme activity and microbial biomass,as well as with a suite of abiotic variables and proximity to vascular plants *** found that peat moisture content was positively correlated with respiration and microbial activity,even when moisture levels exceeded total saturation,suggesting that access to organic matter substrates in drier environments may be limiting for microbial *** to black spruce trees decreased total and labile heterotrophic *** negative relationship may reflect the influence of tree evapotranspiration and peat shading effects;i.e.,microbial activity may decline as peat dries and cools near ***,we isolated the response of heterotrophic respiration to explore the variation in,and interactions among,multiple abiotic and biotic drivers that influence microbial *** approach allowed us to reveal the relative influence of individual drivers on C respiration in these globally important C sinks.

the use of microdng resonators to assist in the evanescent field coupling between dissimilar waveguides is proposed and analyzed. theoretical analysis based on the coupled mode theory and numerical example show that complete cross power transfers can be obtained near the microring resonances. Applications of the device include power dividers, low-power thermo-optic or electro-optic switches, and modulators.
