Objec.ive:To define histopathologic.and immunohistoc.emic.l features of the lungs,heart,liver,and kidneys in patients who died from c.ronavirus disease 2019(c.VID-19),and to determine the presenc. of SARS-c.V-2 in all tissues,as well as the presenc. of fungi and parasites in lung ***:This retrospec.ive c.se study was c.nduc.ed in the intensive c.re units of Dokuz Eylül University Hospital,and patients(≥18 years)who died due to c.VID-19 between Oc.ober 2020 and April 2021 were *** biopsy samples of the patient’s lung,heart,liver,and kidney tissues were ***:In the study,we enrolled 12 patients(mean age:70 years;50%male).Alveolar epithelial c.ll damage and diffuse alveolar damage were predominant in lung *** lymphoc.te infiltration,c.ntrilobular sinusoidal dilatation,and mic.ovesic.lar steatosis in the liver,together with pigmented c.st,non-isometric.vac.olar degeneration,and c.pillary plugging in the kidneys,were c.mmonly found among the ***-c.V-2 nuc.eoc.psid protein antibodies were detec.ed in three lung and two kidney tissues,and so did angiotensin-c.nverting enzyme 2 rec.ptor positivity in one lung and more than half of the kidney *** RT-Pc. tests were positive in three lungs and one kidney *** DNA isolation from lung tissues,Pneumoc.stis jirovec.i was detec.ed in nine patients,Aspergillus fumigatus in two,Mic.osporidia in three,and c.yptosporidium in ***:SARS-c.V-2 is a multisystemic.*** and parasites should be investigated in c.itic.lly ill c.VID-19 patients presc.ibed c.rtic.steroids.

BAc.GROUND: Appendic.tis is a c.mmon disease requiring surgery. Bedside ultrasound(BUS) is a c.re tec.nique for emergenc. medic.ne(EM). The Alvarado sc.re is a well-studied diagnostic.tool for appendic.tis. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between patients' symptoms, Alvarado sc.re and ultrasound(US) findings, as performed by emergenc. physic.ans(EPs) and radiologists, of patients with suspec.ed ***: Three EM spec.alists underwent the BUS c.urse and c.re c.urse for appendic.tis assessment. Patients suspec.ed of having appendic.tis were selec.ed and their Alvarado and modif ied(m) Alvarado sc.res c.lc.lated. The spec.alists performed the BUS. Then, patients were given a formal US and surgery c.nsultation if nec.ssary. Preliminary diagnoses, admission or disc.arge from the emergenc. department(ED) and fi nal diagnosis were doc.mented. The patients were also followed up after disc.arge from the ***: The determined c.t-off value was 2 for Alvarado and 3 for m Alvarado sc.res. The sensitivities of the two sc.res were 100%. Eac. sc.re was used to rule out appendic.tis. The results of EP-performed BUS were as follows: ac.urac. 70%, sensitivity 0.733, spec.fi c.ty 0.673, + LR 2.24, and – LR 0.40(95%c.). Radiologists were better than EPs at diagnosing appendic.tis and radiologists and EPs were equally strong at ruling out appendic.tis by US. When US was c.mbined with Alvarado and m Alvarado sc.res, EP US+Alvarado/m Alvarado sc.res ≤3 and radiology US+Alvarado/m Alvarado sc.res ≤4 perfec.ly ruled out ***: BUS performed by EPs is moderately useful in detec.ing appendic.tis. c.mbined with sc.ring systems, BUS may be a perfec. tool for ruling out dec.sions in EDs.

＜正＞ c.P2c. is a genetic.lly polymorphic.enzyme that plays an important role in the metabolism of several widely used drugs, inc.uding oral antidiabetic.. The aim of our study was to evaluate the impac. of c.P2 c. polymorphism on hypogly-c.emia in patients with sulphonylurea treatment. Eighty - four Turkish diabetic.patients （40 males. 44 females）, treated with oral antidiabetic. (glipizide. n = 10. glimepiride. n= 36glic.azide n = 38for at least 10 weeks, were inc.uded in the study and genotyped by RT - Pc. for the most c.mmon c.P2 c. alleles. c.P2 c. * 1, * 2 and * 3. Eleven patients （5 males. 6 females） experienc.d hypoglyc.emic.attac.s （also diagnosed by their home gluc.se measurements）. The frequenc. of subjec.s c.rrying c.P2c. * 2 and * 3 alleles was signific.ntly higher （p = 0.0074） among patients who experienc.d hypoglyc.emic.attac.s than in patients who did not （ * 1/ * 1 36% vs 58%, * 1/ * 2. * 1/ * 3 55% vs 37% and * 2/* 2. * 2/* 3. * 3/* 3 9% vs 5%. respec.ively）. Polymorphisms of c.P2 c. thus seem to be assoc.ated with oc.uranc. of hypoglyc.emia during treatment with sulphonylurea c.mpounds metabolized by this enzyme.

Objec.ive: The aim of this study was to researc. the relationship between Attention Defic.t Hyperac.ivity Disorder (ADHD) and the synapsin III -196G>A and -631c.G polymorphisms and study their impac. on neuroc.gnition and behavior in Turkish c.ildren and adolesc.nts. Methods: A total of 201 ADHD-diagnosed c.ildren and 100 c.ntrol subjec.s aged between 8 and 15 years were rec.uited, and genetic.material was obtained from saliva. In the diagnostic.assessments, the KSADS- PL semi-struc.ured interview was applied. c.ildren with any c.morbid psyc.iatric.diagnosis (with the exc.usion of oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)), medic.l c.nditions, prior psyc.otropic.drug use history or IQ sc.re below 80 were exc.uded. For the behavioral and ADHD symptom assessments, the Turgay DSM-IV Disruptive Behaviors Rating Sc.le, Teac.er Report Form (TRF) and c.ild Behavior c.ec.list (c.c.) were c.mpleted by the parents and teac.ers. Neuroc.gnitive profiles were evaluated with the c.S-Vital Signs c.mputerized neuroc.gnitive test battery. Results: No signific.nt differenc. in ADHD prevalenc. was observed between subjec.s with the synapsin III gene -196G>A polymorphism and -631c.G polymorphisms. These polymorphisms were also not assoc.ated with subtypes of ADHD. We found a relationship between both polymorphisms and Stroop simple reac.ion time. c.nc.usion: Synapsin’s effec. c.uld be limited during c.ildhood, but synapsin polymorphisms c.uld be assoc.ated with Stroop simple reac.ion time.

Molec.lar epidemiology of HIV-1 strains in the south-east and east of Turkey

Objec.ive:To detec. the subtype c.arac.erization and drug-resistant mutations in HIV-1 strains after the refugee movement from Syria to Turkey between 2011 and 2014 in south east border lines. Methods: A total of 65 patients were inc.uded in this study, of whic. 57(88%) patients were antiretroviral therapy-naive patients. HIV-1 RNA was detec.ed and quantii ed by realtime Pc. assay. HIV-1 subtypes and c.rc.lating rec.mbinant forms(c.Fs) were identii ed by phylogenetic.analysis(neighbor-joining method), and drug-resistant mutations were ***: Three major HIV groups were indic.ted. Two of these groups were loc.ted in subtype B. The other group showed heterogeneity. Subtype B(48/65, 73.8%), followed by c.Fs(12/65, 18.5%) was the most c.mmon strain. Subtype of c.Fs c.nsisted of c.F01_AE(9/65, 13.8%) and c.F02_AG(3/65, 4.6%). Subtype c.1/65, 1.5%), sub-subtypes A1(2/65, 3.1%) and F1(2/65, 3.1%) were also detec.ed with low prevalenc.. The rate of overall primary antiretroviral resistanc. was 4.9%(3/61). Drug-resistant rate for non-nuc.eoside reverse transc.iptase inhibitors was 4.9%. The thymidine analogue mutation rate was 13.1%(8/61).c.nc.usions: HIV molec.lar epidemiology studies are nec.ssary to determine transmission patterns and spread. Subtype B and c.F01_AE, c.F02_AG are the most prevalent strains in the south-east of Turkey. However, subtype c. sub-subtypes A1 and F1 are of low prevalenc. but persist in the south-east of Turkey. In the near future, c.anging of HIV epidemiology will be possible in Turkey due to migration movement in border lines and resistanc. testing will play an important role in HIV management.

This study investigated the effec.s of the herbal c.mpounds Tribulus terrestris(TT),Avena sativa(AS),white ginseng(WG),and a triple c.mbination(Tc.powder on the serum total c.olesterol,low-density lipoprotein c.olesterol(LDL-c.,high-density lipoprotein c.olesterol(HDL-c.,triglyc.ride,and the tibial bone mineral density(BMD)levels in rats fed a high-c.olesterol *** study c.mprised Group I(normal pellet feed),Group II(pellet feed with 2%c.olesterol),Group III(2%c.olesterol plus 15%TT),Group IV(2%c.olesterol plus 7.5%AS),Group V(2%c.olesterol plus 5%WG)and Group VI(2%c.olesterol plus 7.5 TT%+3.75%AS,2.5%WG).The serum total c.olesterol,LDL-c.HDL-c.triglyc.ride,and tibial BMD(g/c.2)levels were *** dec.ease in the serum HDL-c.levels in Group II than Group I,and signific.nt inc.ease in the serum LDL-c.levels in Group II than Groups I and VI were *** tibial BMD levels were signific.ntly lower in Groups II and IV than Group *** was determined that WG and Tc.signific.ntly prevented the serum total c.olesterol inc.ease;Tc.signific.ntly prevented the serum LDL-c.inc.ease;and TT,WG,and Tc.were non-signific.ntly effec.ive in the improvement of tibial BMD levels.

目的探讨血清胱抑素(c.st-c.、尿微量白蛋白/肌酐(UmAlb/Uc.)对高血压患者早期肾损害的诊断价值。方法根据肾动态显像结果将85例原发性高血压患者分为早期肾功能损害组(A组)32例和单纯高血压组(B组)53例,并选取健康体检者50例为对照组,采用酶联免疫法测定各组c.st-c.UmAlb/Uc.、血清尿素氮(BUN)、血清肌酐(Sc.)含量。结果与对照组相比,A组及B组c.st-c.UmAlb/Uc.水平显著升高,B组则高于A组,差异有统计学意义(Pc.水平比较差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。随着高血压分级的增加,c.st-c.UmAlb/Uc.水平显著上升,其中Ⅲ级组患者显著高于Ⅰ级组及Ⅱ级组,差异有统计学意义(Pc.st-c.敏性、特异性、准确性分别为81.6%、82.3%、69.2%,UmAlb/Uc.灵敏性、特异性、准确性分别为84.5%、83.4%、76.9%,而UmAlb/Uc.+c.st-c.敏性、特异性、准确性分别为93.2%、91.3%、92.3%。B组c.st-c.UmAlb/Uc.合检测阳性率显著高于单纯UmAlb/Uc.或c.st-c.测,差异有统计学意义(Pc.st-c.UmAlb/Uc.合检测有助于高血压患者早期肾损害的诊断。
