目的了解孟加拉国兰加马蒂蚊类种群群落特征,为当地媒介蚊虫控制措施的制定提供依据。方法 2019年9月,在孟加拉国兰加马蒂人房和牛房采用诱蚊灯通宵诱捕成蚊,形态鉴定蚊种并分析其群落特征。结果共捕获蚊虫2亚科7属33种6 445只,当地的优势蚊种为菲律宾按蚊和三带喙库蚊,分别占捕获蚊总数的37.66%(2 427/6 445)和35.67%(2 299/6 445)。人房致倦库蚊构成比较高,为73.59%(719/977);牛房菲律宾按蚊占41.73%(282/5 468),三带喙库蚊占41.04%(2 244/5 468)。蚊虫Shannon-Wienner多样性指数为1.62,Simpson多样性指数为0.29,Pielou均匀度指数0.46。结论孟加拉国兰加马蒂蚊虫种类丰富,疟疾和乙型脑炎媒介蚊虫属于当地优势蚊虫种群。应进一步加强孟加拉国蚊虫群落特征研究,为当地媒介蚊虫控制措施的制定提供参考依据。

Preparation of Durable Antibacterial Polyester Fabrics by Grafting with the Natural Quaternary Ammonium Compound Betaine

Recently, the textile industry has increasingly advocated for natural resource-based healthcare textiles. This research presents a facile and eco-friendly approach to developing durable antibacterial polyester fabrics. Polyester fabric was first subjected to an alkaline hydrolysis to impart hydroxyl groups on the fiber surface. A natural antibacterial agent, betaine, was then covalently bonded to the hydrolyzed polyester fiber surface through esterification. XPS, Raman, SEM, and Wicking measurements were carried out to verify the esterification reaction. Antibacterial tests confirmed that betaine treatment grafted polyester fabrics revealed a remarkable antibacterial effect with inhibition rates > 99.9% against both E. coli and S. aureus and still remained inhibition rates of up to 91.5% against both bacteria after home washing for 20 cycles. Moreover, the modification significantly increased the capillary effect of polyester fabric but did not cause apparent adverse effects on the fabric’s hand or tensile strength. Overall, this grafting strategy for durable, antibacterial polyester fabric represents a significant practicality in the textile industry.

Assessment of public health research output by Bangladeshi authors:A scientometric study

The main objective of the study is to assess the growth and expansion of public health(PH)research works by Bangladeshi authors from various perspectives such as quantum of growth,patterns of collaboration, and productivity of authorship, among others. The present research uses a scientometric technique to examine secondary literature. Between 2000 and 2015, 871literature by Bangladeshi writers and 3,71,389 literature by worldwide authors on PH were retrieved from the Scopus database and evaluated using quantitative indicators to study growth and development from various perspectives. The highest growth in terms of the number of publications has been observed in the year 2015(133) and the lowest in 2001(10). The PR(Percent of Growth Rate) shows that 2001 was the deepest decreasing year(-38%) whereas 2002was the most increasing year(90%). During the study, RGR(Relative Growth Rate) values of Bangladeshi contributions to PH literature varied from 0.16 to 0.55, with an average of 0.27. The CC(Collaborative Coefficient) value indicates that during the research period, there was a substantial amount of collaboration among the authors. At the same time, the PPA(Productivity Per Author) value(0.31) denotes that throughout the era, each Bangladeshi author produced less than half of a publication per year. The mean Activity Index(AI) during 2000-2015 was 89.14,which reflects lower activity than the world’s average in PH literature. It was also observed that research productivity in public health of Bangladesh follows Lotka’s inverse rule of author production. According to the findings, there is a strong link between public health research output in emerging and developed nations.

Study the Structural, Electronic, Optical Properties of CZTS Compound after Doping Ba at Zn Site and Si at Sn Site Using Density Functional Theory (DFT)

The structural, electronic, and optical properties of Cu2Zn1−xBaxSn1−ySiyS4 compounds have been calculated using GGA-PBE function within the framework of Density Functional Theory (DFT). In the present work, lattice parameters remained the same, that is tetragonal crystal structure for 0% and 100% doping concentration. The electronic band gap of Cu2Zn1−xBaxSn1−ySiyS4 compounds has been gradually increased for continuous increment of doping concentration where the highest electronic band gap is 1.117 eV for Cu2BaSiS4 structure. Moreover, the band gap changes from direct to indirect band gap with the increase of doping concentration in the parent compound. The absorption coefficient has been found to be high (> 104 cm−1) in UV-region for all the doping concentration which makes the studied compound as a potential candidate of absorber layer in the UV detector. The theoretical study of the effect of double doping in the CZTS compound is very interesting for improving the quality of it and it would be a reference for the theoretical and experimental researchers.

Capsicum is a nutritious vegetable and its cultivation in farms is getting popular in Bangladesh. Although many efforts have lain to explore better yielding and nutritionally rich cultivars with suitable modern cultivation techniques but still have to find the desired outcome. Thus, it’s necessary to conduct further research to identify the high-yielding and nutritious capsicum cultivars in Bangladesh. An experiment was conducted from July 2021 to June 2022 at the Bangladesh Institute of Research and Training on Applied Nutrition (BIRTAN) research field with three cultivars of capsicum: B0 = California Wonder, B1 = BARI Misti Morich-1 and B2 = BARI Misti Morich-2 and three mulching: T0 = No mulching, T1 = Water hyacinth, T2 = Poly Mulching in randomized complete block design with three replications to identify better quality capsicum cultivar and suitable mulching material. Among cultivars the BARI Misti Morich-2 (B2) showed increased agronomic parameters like number of branches and effective branches per plant, leaves length and width, consequently yield and yield contributing traits were also enhanced like fruits per plant, fruit length, fruit diameter and yield per plant (25.97%, 4.54%, 3.64% and 21.43%, respectively). Poly Mulching (T2) increased agronomic traits, yield traits and yield (0.61 kg) than BARI Misti Morich-1 (T1). The combined effect of B2T2 increased the number of branches per plant, effective branches per plant, leaves length and breadth by 40%, 90%, 15.57% and 26.22%, respectively, hence resulting in an increased yield of 20%. BARI Misti Morich-2 cultivar showed an increase in Fe, Zn and Vitamin-C content of 26.24% and 23.10%, 8.82% and 5.14%, and 6.03% and 5.74% than B0 and B1 cultivars, respectively. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of trimetazidine on exercise capacity via a six-minute walk test in patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy and also evaluate the effect of trimetazidine on left ventricular function via echocardiography in the same population. Methods: This prospective observational study, conducted at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Dhaka, Bangladesh, enrolled 200 patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy and a depressed left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF Results: In this study (n = 200) of ischaemic cardiomyopathy patients, the mean age was 58 years, with 76% of the patients being male. All study subjects received GDMT (Guideline-Directed Medical Therapy) for angina and heart failure. Those who received the modified released form of trimetazidine developed lesions during the 1st and 2nd follow-ups, during which the LVEF, LVIDd, and six-minute walk distance significantly improved (p Conclusion: The findings of the present study demonstrated that the addition of modified-release trimetazidine to GDMT can improve exercise capacity and left ventricular function in patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy.

Impact of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium on Brown Planthopper and Tolerance of Its Host Rice Plants

The brown planthopper(BPH),Nilaparvata lugens(St?l),appeared as a devastating pest of rice in Asia. Experiments were conducted to study the effects of three nutrients,nitrogen(N),phosphorus(P) and potassium(K),on BPH and its host rice plants. Biochemical constituents of BPH and rice plants with varying nutrient levels at different growth stages,and changes in relative water content(RWC) of rice plants were determined in the laboratory. Feeding of BPH and the tolerance of rice plants to BPH with different nutrient levels were determined in the nethouse. Concentrations of N and P were found much higher in the BPH body than in its host rice plants,and this elemental mismatch is an inherent constraint on meeting nutritional requirements of BPH. Nitrogen was found as a more limiting element for BPH than other nutrients in rice plants. Application of N fertilizers to the rice plants increased the N concentrations both in rice plants and BPH while application of P and K fertilizers increased their concentrations in plant tissues only but not in BPH. Nitrogen application also increased the level of soluble proteins and decreased silicon content in rice plants,which resulted in increased feeding of BPH with sharp reduction of RWC in rice plants ultimately caused susceptible to the pest. P fertilization increased the concentration of P in rice plant tissues but not changed N,K,Si,free sugar and soluble protein contents,which indicated little importance of P to the feeding of BPH and tolerance of plant against BPH. K fertilization increased K content but reduced N,Si,free sugar and soluble protein contents in the plant tissues which resulted in the minimum reduction of RWC in rice plants after BPH feeding,thereby contributed to higher tolerance of rice plants to brown planthopper.

双边贸易是两国之间促进贸易和投资的货物交换。为了促进贸易和投资,两国将减少或取消税收、进口限制、出口限制和其他贸易壁垒。本研究旨在确定影响孟加拉国双边贸易模式的因素,以及区域贸易协定（RTAs）和优惠贸易协定（PTAs）如何改变该国的贸易模式。为了估算面板引力模型（panel gravity model）中孟加拉国在2000年至2019年20年间对其51个贸易伙伴的贸易流量,编制了一组具体数据集。研究结果表明,孟加拉国的国内生产总值（GDP）规模、汇率和贸易开放已被证明是孟加拉国对外贸易的关键影响因素。区域贸易协定正在以最小的规模影响孟加拉国的贸易。地理隔离对贸易有重大影响。人们注意到,虽然孟加拉国没有加入欧洲联盟和北美自由贸易协定（NAFATA）,但由于普遍优惠制设施和成衣工业的竞争优势,孟加拉国正在向这些目的地进一步出口。由于以下几个原因,本研究是—个新颖而重要的贡献:考虑到市场动态和孟加拉国贸易趋势最近的转变,以往用引力模型分析孟加拉国贸易模式的研究已经过时。所以,这是重温这个话题的最佳时机。第二,最重要的是,之前的研究从未使用PPML估计,有限元或REM不足以得出的结果如果零贸易存在的数据集。这项研究有助于填补研究空白,回顾历史上最活跃的部分或最近的贸易和包容的PPML估计产生无偏和—致的估计量。

Dear Editor We read with interest the editorial by Qiu et at about the psychological distress among the general population in China during the COVID-19 pandemic and policy *** elderly are more vulnerable to increased mental health problems during COVID-19,which has raised significant challenges for community mental health services.12 Older people with comorbid conditions,including cardiovascular diseases,lung diseases,diabetes and hypertension are more likely to be severely affected and die because of COVID-19,which is caused by SARS-CoV-2.^(3).
