Magnetohydrodynamic Boundary Layer Flow of Non-Newtonian Fluid and Combined Heat and Mass Transfer about an Inclined Stretching Sheet

The steady magneto hydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow and combined heat and mass transfer of a non-Newtonian fluid over an inclined stretching sheet have been investigated in the present analysis. The effects of the flow parameters on the velocity, temperature, species concentration, local skin friction, local Nusselt number, and Sherwood number are computed, discussed and have been graphically represented in figures and tables for various values of different parameters. The numerical results are carried out for several values of the combined effects of magnetic parameter M, stretching parameter λ, Prandtl number Pr, Eckert number Ec, Schmidt number Sc, Soret number S0, slip parameter A and Casson parameter n on velocity, temperature and concentration profiles and also the skin-friction coefficient ?f?"(0)?local Nusselt number -θ'(0)?and local Sherwood number -ψ'(0)?are discussed and presented in tabular form. The results pertaining to the present study indicate that the velocity profiles decrease as the increase of magnetic field parameter, but reverse trend arises for the effect of Casson parameter and stretching ratio parameter for both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. The temperature profiles increase forthe effect of magnetic parameter, Prandtl number and Eckert number in case of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. The concentration profile increases for the effect of Soret number while concentration profile decreases for the increasing values of Schmidt number, magnetic parameter, Prandtl number and Eckert number for both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. By considering the cooling plate the numerical results for the skin-friction coefficient f?"(0) , local Nusselt number?-θ'(0) and local Sherwood number ?-ψ'(0) are presented in Tables 1-3.

Simulation of Natural Convection Flow with Magneto-Hydrodynamics in a Wavy Top Enclosure with a Semi-Circular Heater

Natural convection flow in enclosure has different applications such as room ventilation, heat exchangers, the cooling system of a building etc. The Finite-Element method based on the Galerkin weighted residual approach is used to solve two-dimensional governing mass, momentum and energy-equations for natural convection flow in the presence of a magnetic field on a roof top with semi-circular heater. In the enclosure the horizontal lower wall was heated, the vertical two walls were adiabatic, inside the semi-circular heater, the wavy top wall cooled. The parameters Rayleigh number, Hartmann number and Prandtl number are considered. The effects of the Hartmann number and Rayleigh number on the streamlines, isotherms, velocity profiles and average Nusselt number are examined graphically. The local Nusselt number and the average Nusselt number of the heated portion of the enclosure with the semi-circular heater are presented in this paper. Finally, for the validation of the existing work, the current results are compared with published results and the auspicious agreement is achieved.

Overcoming Challenges in COVID-19 Vaccination among Ethnic Minority Groups in Bangladesh: A Qualitative Exploration

This study aimed to explore the barriers affecting COVID-19 vaccine uptake among ethnic minorities and to propose strategies to strengthen government initiatives for inclusive vaccination. Grounded in social constructivism, this qualitative study was conducted in the greater Sylhet Division, where many ethnic communities live. Using purposive sampling, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 49 participants, including ethnic men and women, community leaders, and healthcare providers. Two focus group discussions (FGDs) were also conducted to ensure data validation, and the results were analyzed using thematic analysis, which revealed several factors, such as free vaccinations, media, close community-knit healthcare centers, informal communication that positively influenced vaccine uptake, such as awareness campaigns, informal communication, media involvement, and free vaccine availability. However, socio-economic and technological barriers pose significant challenges, including misconceptions about vaccines, limited access to technology, long distances to vaccination centers, inconvenient service hours, and reliance on traditional medicine. To promote inclusive vaccination, the study recommends establishing localized vaccine camps, improving technological infrastructure such as the Internet and network access, enhancing communication strategies, providing special services for women, the elderly and disabled individuals, and ensuring a reliable vaccine supply. Future researchers could apply longitudinal studies, including a lager study area and broader range of participants to address the missing perspectives in the current study.

Bangladesh is renowned in disaster risk reduction(DRR)for active involvement of community people and local disaster management institutions in DRR *** study aimed to describe the disaster risk management(DRM)institutions and assess their functioning in six coastal unions across the three coastal zones of *** qualitative and quantitative research approaches were *** study focused on two key local institutions—the Union Disaster Management Committees(UDMCs)and the Cyclone Preparedness Program(CPP)—functioning at the union level in *** institutions have both horizontal and vertical collaborations with other ***,we argue that the UDMCs'external dependencies in their functioning indicate their limited financial and administrative autonomy,which is a barrier to successfully institutionalizing disaster *** results show that the CPP is the most successful program,markedly increasing the trust of the people in warning dissemination and evacuation efforts in the event of a *** the adoption of decentralized risk management systems has resulted in significant progress in increased rate of evacuation and reduced death rate and damage,lack of funding and equipment,limited coordination between institutions,lack of skilled and knowledgeable workforce,and inappropriate power structures may reduce the effectiveness of DRR activities prior to,during,and following disasters.

Assessment of heavy metal contamination in the sur?cial sediments from the lower Meghna River estuary, Noakhali coast, Bangladesh

Sediment samples were collected from ten selected sites of the lower Meghna River estuary, and six heavy metals were analyzed with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry(AAS) to assess the contamination level and the metals’ association with sediment grain size. The current results revealed that the mean concentrations of the studied metals were ranked in descending order of iron(Fe)(1.29 ? 103 mg/kg) > zinc(Zn)(42.41 mg/kg) > lead(Pb)(12.48 mg/kg) > chromium(Cr)(10.59 mg/kg) > copper(Cu)(6.22 mg/kg) > cadmium(Cd)(0.28 mg/kg). The geo-accumulation, contamination, and pollution load indexes suggested that the lower Meghna river estuary was not contaminated by Fe, Zn, Pb, Cr, and *** mean size of the sediment ranged from 28.92 to 126.2 mm, and the Pearson correlation coefficient showed a significant association between Fe and Pb(coefficient of determination, r2? 0.836; p < 0.05),and no significant correlation was found between individual metals and grain size, indicating no or low influence on the metals distribution.

Engineered chitosan for improved 3D tissue growth through Paxillin-FAK-ERK activation

Scaffold engineering has attracted significant attention for three-dimensional(3D)growth,prolifer-ation and differentiation of stem cells in *** available scaffolds suffer from issues such as poor ability for cell adhesion,migration and *** paper addresses these issues with 3D porous chitosan scaffold,fabricated and functionalized with cysteine-terminated Arg-Gly-Asp(Cys-RGD)tri-peptide on their *** study reveals that the compressive moduli of the scaffold is independent to RGD functionalization but shows dependence on the applied freezing temperature(TM)during the fabrication *** low freezing TM(-80℃)produces scaffold with high compressive moduli(14.64±1.38 kPa)and high TM(-30℃)produces scaffold with low compressive moduli(5.6±0.38 kPa).The Cys-RGD functionalized scaffolds lead to significant improvements in adhesion(150%)and proliferation(300%)of human mesenchymal stem cell(hMSC).The RGD-integrin coupling activates the focal adhesion signaling(Paxillin-FAK ERK)path-ways,as confirmed by the expression of p-Paxillin,p-FAK and p-ERK protein,and results in the observed improvement of cell adhesion and *** proliferation of hMSC on RGD func-tionalized surface was evaluated with scanning electron microscopy imaging and distribution though pore was confirmed by histochemistry of transversely sectioned *** hMSC adhe-sion and proliferation in scaffold with high compressive moduli showed a constant enhancement(with a slope value 9.97)of compressive strength throughout the experimental period of 28 *** improved cell adhesion and proliferation with RGD functionalized chitosan scaffold,together with their mechanical stability,will enable new interesting avenues for 3D cell growth and differen-tiation in numerous applications including regenerative tissue implants.

Improving Grain Yield of Indigenous Rice in Tidal Floodplain of Southern Bangladesh: Effect of Seedling Age and Transplanting Method

Rice production in the tidal floodplain of southern Bangladesh is constrained by uncontrolled water. In absence of high yielding varieties suitable for tidal floodplain, farmers grow low yielding indigenous cultivars of tall plant type. This paper reports the effect of agronomic management on the yield and yield components of an indigenous rice cultivar, Sadamota. The trial was conducted in 10 farmers’ plots located widely apart in two upazila (sub-districts)—Jhalakati and Rajapur. 45 d and 60 d old seedlings were transplanted either in rows at 40 cm × 20 cm spacing or following farmers’ traditional practice of random planting. Transplanting 60 d old seedlings produced 14% higher yield compared with 45 d old seedlings. Transplanting in rows also increased grain yield by 12%. The yield increase was associated with hill density, the number of effective tillers per hill and the number of spikelets per panicle.

Isolated Endophytic Fungi from the Plant <i>Curcuma longa</i>and Their Potential Bioactivity—A Review

Endophytes (both fungi and bacteria) represent a treasure house for bioactive compounds such as anticancer, immunomodulatory, antioxidant, antiparasitic, insecticidal etc. for use in the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries. Endophytic population is greatly influenced by climatic conditions and location where the host plant grows. Curcuma longa L. (Turmeric) is a medicinal plant belonging to the Zingiberaceae family that is usually used as spice and preservative. Traditionally it is used to treat various conditions and symptoms such as digestive disorders, arthritis, cardiovascular conditions, cancer, bacterial infections etc. In recent times, there have been different discoveries on endophytic fungi and their biological activity from C. longa. But there is no comprehensive review on endophytic fungi of C. longa. The aim of this review is to analyze the published report based on the endophytic fungi to provide for the first time an updated information about their isolation from different tissues, their biological activities including the phytochemistry of C. longa. This will lead the way to forecast the missing link for future research work.

Solving Multi-Objective Linear Programming Problem by Statistical Averaging Method with the Help of Fuzzy Programming Method

A multi-objective linear programming problem is made from fuzzy linear programming problem. It is due the fact that it is used fuzzy programming method during the solution. The Multi objective linear programming problem can be converted into the single objective function by various methods as Chandra Sen’s method, weighted sum method, ranking function method, statistical averaging method. In this paper, Chandra Sen’s method and statistical averaging method both are used here for making single objective function from multi-objective function. Two multi-objective programming problems are solved to verify the result. One is numerical example and the other is real life example. Then the problems are solved by ordinary simplex method and fuzzy programming method. It can be seen that fuzzy programming method gives better optimal values than the ordinary simplex method.

Solving Fuzzy Multi-Objective Linear Programming Problem by Applying Statistical Method

In this paper, the statistical averaging method and the new statistical averaging methods have been used to solve the fuzzy multi-objective linear programming problems. These methods have been applied to form a single objective function from the fuzzy multi-objective linear programming problems. At first, a numerical example of solving fuzzy multi-objective linear programming problem has been provided to validate the maximum risk reduction by the proposed method. The proposed method has been applied to assess the risk of damage due to natural calamities like flood, cyclone, sidor, and storms at the coastal areas in Bangladesh. The proposed method of solving the fuzzy multi-objective linear programming problems by the statistical method has been compared with the Chandra Sen’s method. The numerical results show that the proposed method maximizes the risk reduction capacity better than Chandra Sen’s method.
