A Review on D 614G Mutation with Bangladesh Scenario

With the COVID-19 pandemic, disparities between the infection rate and death rate in different countries become a major concern. In some countries, lower mortality rate compared to others can be explained by better testing capacity and intensive care facilities. Complete SARS-CoV-2 genome sequences from different countries of the world are continually submitted to Global Initiative for Sharing All Influenza Data using Next Generation Sequencing method. A SARS-CoV-2 variant with a D 614G Mutation in the spike (S) protein has become the most dominant form in the global pandemic. There are a number of ongoing studies trying to relate this mutation with the infectivity, mortality, transmissibility of the virus and its impact on vaccine development. This review aims to accumulate the major findings from some of these studies and focus its future implication. Some studies suggested D 614G strain has increased binding capacity, it affects more cells at a faster rate, so has a high transmissibility. Patients infected with this strain were found with high viral load. But still now there is no such evidence that this strain produces more severe disease as well as increased mortality. The structural change of spike protein produced by D 614G mutation was minor and did not hamper the vaccine efficacy. Some studies showed antibodies produced against D614 strain can neutralize G614 strain and vice versa. Whenever a mutation occurs in spike protein there are always chances of affecting the infectivity, transmissibility, vaccine efficacy. Therefore, more studies are required to find out the overall effect of D 614G mutation.

Biomass and net primary productivity of mangrove communities along the Oligohaline zone of Sundarbans, Bangladesh

Background： The article presents the first estimates of biomass and productivity for mangrove forests along the Oligohaline zone of the Sundarbans Reserve Forest （SRF）, Bangladesh. This study was conducted overone year from March 2016 to April 20] 7. Stand structure, above and below-ground biomass changes, and litterfall production were measured within a 2100 m2 sample plot. Methods： All trees in the study plots were numbered and height （H） and diameter at breast height （DBH） were measured. Tree height （H） and DBH for each tree were measured in March 2016 and 2017. We apply the above and belowground biomass equation for estimating the biomass of the mangrove tree species （Chave et al. Oecologia 145：87-99, 2005; Komiyama et al. J Trop Ecol 21：471-477, 2005）. Litterfall was collected using 1-mm mesh litter traps with collection area of 0.42 m2. Net Primary Production （NPP） was estimated by the summation method of Ogawa Primary productivity of Japanese forests： productivity of terrestrial communities, JIBP synthesis （1977） and Matsuura and Kajimoto Carbon dynamics of terrestrial ecosystem： Systems approach to global environment （2013）. Results： Heritiero fomes has maintained its dominance of the stand and also suffered the highest tree mortality （2.4%） in the suppressed crown class. The total above-ground biomass （AGB） and below-ground biomass （BGB） of the studied stand was ]54.8 and 84.2 ***-1, respectively. Among the total biomass of the trees, 64.8% was allocated to AGB and 35.2% to BGB. In case of species-wise contribution of biomass allocation, Avicennia officinalis showed the highest score and Aglaia cucullota the lowest. Mean annual total litterfall was 10.1 Mg-ha ***-1, with the maximum litterfall in winter or dry season and late summer or rainy season. The mean AGB increment and above-ground net primary productivity （AGNPP） were 7.1 and 17.2 ***-1, respectively. Simple self-assembly of 3D laminated CuO/SnO2 hybrid for the detection of triethylamine

Tin dioxide is important gas sensor material and has wide applications in the detection of toxic gases and volatile organic ***,we synthesized a 3D laminated structural CuO/SnO2 material possessing p-n *** morphology and structure were characterized by XRD,SEM,TEM and XPS techniques and the sensing properties were investigated for the detection of triethylamine(TEA).The results indicate that 3D laminated CuO/SnO2 material,assembled by lamellae consisting of ordered nanoparticles,exhibit an enhanced sensing performance compared with SnO2,and notably,CuO/SnO2 with size less than 1μm has obvious high selectivity in the detection of 100 ppm ***,it has a high response and stability to 1 and 5 ppm TEA(S is 8 and 33),and that is higher than SnO2 material,suggesting 3D laminated CuO/SnO2 is an effective ca ndidate material served as sensor platform to detect low-concentration amines.

In this paper, a hexagonal shape photonic crystal fiber （H-PCF） has been proposed as a gas sensor of which both micro-structured core and cladding are organized by circular air cavities. The reported H-PCF has a single layer circular core which is surrounded by a five-layer hexagonal cladding. The overall pretending process of the H-PCF is completed by using a full vectorial finite element method （FEM） with perfectly matched layer （PML） boundary condition. All geometrical parameters like diameters and pitches of both core and cladding regions have fluctuated with an optimized structure. After completing the numerical analysis, it is clearly visualized that the proposed H-PCF exhibits high sensitivity with low confinement loss. The investigated results reveal the relative sensitivity of 56.65% and confinement loss of 2.31×10^-5 dB/m at the 1.33%tm wavelength. Moreover, effective area, nonlinearity, and V-parameter of the suggested PCF are also briefly described.

Evaluation of antibiotic resistance patterns in clinical isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae in Bangladesh

The treatment of *** infections has become more difficult due to the emergence of multidrugresistant *** study aimed to evaluate antimicrobial resistance patterns and detect different types of beta-lactamase genes among md. and non-md. Klebsiella pneumoniae in various clinical samples.A total of 150 Klebsiella pneumoniae were identified from different clinical samples by conventional microbiological *** sensitivity was detected by the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion ***-spectrum betalactamase,Metallo-β-lactamase,and carbapenemase were phenotypically detected by double-disk synergy test,combined disk assay,and modified Hodge *** also detected differentβlactamase genes and virulence *** majority of Klebsiella pneumoniae were multi-drug resistant(82%).The bacteria were found resistant to mostβ-lactam antibiotics,aminoglycosides,ciprofloxacin,cotrimoxazole,carbapenem,piperacillin,and ***,only about 0.7%colistin resistance was observed.A double-disk synergy test was performed among the isolates for phenotypic detection of ESBL producing Klebsiella *** 16.6%of isolates were found to be ESBL ***β-lactamase genes,NDM(23.34%),OXA-48(8%),and KPC(7.3%)were *** prevalentβlactamase genes VIM and IMP were not *** summary,the prevalence of md. Klebsiella pneumoniae is high in Bangladesh,which may complicate the treatment of hospitalized patients.

Heat and Mass Transfer on Non-Newtonian Peristaltic Flow in a Channel in Presence of Magnetic Field: Analytical and Numerical Analysis

A study has been arranged to investigate the flow of non-Newtonian fluid in a vertical asymmetrical channel using peristalsis. The porous medium allows the electrically conductive fluid to flow in the channel, while a uniform magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the flow direction. The analysis takes into account the combined influence of heat and mass transfer, including the effects of Soret and Dufour. The flow’s non-Newtonian behavior is characterized using a Casson rheological model. The fluid flow equations are examined within a wave frame of reference that has a wave velocity. The analytic solution is examined using long wavelengths and a small Reynolds number assumption. The stream function, temperature, concentration and heat transfer coefficient expressions are derived. The bvp4c function from MATLAB has been used to numerically solve the transformed equations. The flow characteristics have been analyzed using graphs to demonstrate the impacts of different parameters.

Effects of Hall Current and Ohmic Heating on Non-Newtonian Fluid Flow in a Channel due to Peristaltic Wave

In this paper, the study of non-Newtonian fluid flow with heat transfer in a porous asymmetric channel due to peristaltic wave was taken out. Hall current and Ohmic heating effects were introduced in the present study. A Casson non-Newtonian constitutive model was employed for the transport of fluid. Analytical solutions were obtained for stream function, temperature and heat transfer coefficient. The coupled nonlinear equations have also been solved numerically using MATLAB software (by bvp4c function). The influences of many evolving parameters on the flow characteristic have been explained with the help of 2D and 3D plots. Again the obtained results were compared with the results available in the literature and were found in good agreement.
