Background:National forest inventory and forest monitoring systems are more important than ever considering continued global degradation of trees and *** systems are especially important in a country like Bangladesh,which is characterised by a large population density,climate change vulnerability and dependence on natural *** the aim of supporting the Government’s actions towards sustainable forest management through reliable information,the Bangladesh Forest Inventory(BFI)was designed and implemented through three components:biophysical inventory,socio-economic survey and remote sensing-based land cover *** article documents the approach undertaken by the Forest Department under the Ministry of Environment,Forests and Climate Change to establish the BFI as a multipurpose,efficient,accurate and replicable national forest *** design,operationalization and some key results of the process are ***:The BFI takes advantage of the latest and most well-accepted technological and methodological ***,it was designed through a collaborative process which drew from the experience and knowledge of multiple national and international ***,1781 field plots were visited,6400 households were surveyed,and a national land cover map for the year 2015 was *** technological enhancements include a semi-automated segmentation approach for developing the wall-to-wall land cover map,an object-based national land characterisation system,consistent estimates between sample-based and mapped land cover areas,use of mobile apps for tree species identification and data collection,and use of differential global positioning system for referencing plot ***:Seven criteria,and multiple associated indicators,were developed for monitoring progress towards sustainable forest management goals,informing management decisions,and national and international reporting needs.A wide range of biophysica

Due to their excellent dielectric properties and the rapid response to microwave irradiation,silicon carbide nanowhiskers(SiCNWs)were employed as microwave susceptor in this study to absorb microwave and locally melt the surrounding polypropylene(PP)substrates for the joining of PP *** welded joint is formed after the melted PP was cooled and *** than microwave susceptor,SiCNWs also acted as the nanofillers in strengthening the welded joint through the formation of SiCNWs reinforced PP nanocomposite at the interface of PP ***,the effect of microwave power on the microwave welding of PP substrates using SiCNWs as susceptor was studied and *** was found that the tensile strength and modulus of elasticity of the welded joint improved as microwave power ***,it deteriorates the flexibility of the welded joint as high stiffness SiCNWs were incorporated deeper into the PP matrix which restricted the PP chain *** from microwave power,clamping pressure is also critical in determining the mechanical properties of a welded *** compared to unclamped welded joint,the tensile strength,modulus of elasticity and flexibility of welded joint subjected to clamping pressure improved ***,the tensile strength of welded joint increased when the clamping pressure was increased from P1 to P3,but decreased when the clamping pressure was further increased to P4 due to the occurrence of flashing at welded *** formation mechanism of SiCNWs reinforced PP welded joint was also proposed in this *** to conventional welding,this welding process is easy,straightforward and is able to produce welded joint with outstanding mechanical properties via precise controlling of the processing ***,microwave welding is thought to offer an option for the joining of thermoplastics and other applications.

Impact of seasonality on the prevalence and risk factors of Giardia lamblia infections among the aborigines

Objective: To determine the prevalence and risk factors of Giardia(G.) lamblia infections among the aboriginal community during the wet and dry seasons. Methods: A total of 473 stool samples from the aborigines in Temerloh, Pahang, Malaysia were collected during wet(n=256) and dry seasons(n=217). Smear of all the PVA-preserved stool samples were subjected to Trichrome staining and microscopic examination under 1 000 伊magnification(Nikon eclipse E100) for the detection of G. lamblia. Positivity was recorded based on the presence of G. lamblia in trophozoite and/or cyst forms. Results: The prevalence of giardiasis was 12.10% and 8.29% during the wet and dry season, respectively. Age of less or equal to 15 years old and presence of other family members with G. lamblia infection were found to be the significant risk factors to acquire G. lamblia infections during both seasons. Untreated water supply was the significant risk factor of giardiasis during the dry season. This study highlighted the possibility of anthroponotic transmission of G. lamblia during both seasons and waterborne transmission during the dry season in the aboriginal community. Conclusions: This study suggests that seasonal variation plays an important role in the prevalence and risk factor of G. lamblia infection in the aboriginal community. Therefore, close contact with Giardia-infected family members and water-related activities or usage of untreated water must be avoided to reduce the burden of G. lamblia infection in this community.

In this paper,extensive efforts have been undertaken to design and develop a control system,which is incorporated with an energy storage device that can store energy from low-voltage renewable *** developed device acts as a storage element,which can be used to charge small-scale batteries,cellular devices,and other applications in remote places where the grid connection is not *** circuit is developed using a case-by-case *** order to solve the low output voltage problem,a bipolar junction transistor-metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor(BJT-MOSFET)based switch control technology with the Arduino microcontroller has been *** developed control system is extremely efficient in charging batteries through a supercapacitor for low-voltage *** this research,a small-scale 200-W portable vertical axis wind turbine is used at a wind speed of 3 m/*** result shows the efficiency of the proposed system as compared with the conventional *** proposed system can be an important tool of the latest distributed energy generation technology which is an important part of a smart ***,the limitations and future scopes of the development of the control device are discussed for the future *** important future scope identified is to integrate the Internet of Things based mobile interface for remote monitoring for any kind of pandemic situation like ***,it is high time to get our smart city concept aligned with the post COVID pandemic situation and get us prepared smartly for similar future occurrences.
