Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is a distinct public health issue that calls for the quick development of novel treatments and viral detection. Due to their high specificity and reliability, monoclonal antibodies (mabs) have emerged as useful diagnostic and therapeutic tools for a variety of diseases. As a result, several scientists have jumped right into developing ab-based assays for the identification of SArS-CoV-2 and ab drugs for use as COVID-19 therapy agents. Since the receptor-binding domain (rBD) of the SArS-CoV-2 spike protein is essential for viral infection and has a known precise structure, it has become a key target for the creation of therapeutic antibodies. The use of ab cocktails is anticipated to be a key component of an efficient COVID-19 treatment plan since SArS-CoV-2 is an rNA virus with a high mutation rate, particularly when subjected to the selection pressure of aggressively applied preventive vaccinations and neutralizing abs. Furthermore, SArS-CoV-2 infection could provoke an overzealous immune response, leading to a cytokine storm that accelerates the onset of a severe disease. abs to counteract cytokine storms are also actively being researched as COVID-19 therapies. abs are now used in SArS-CoV-2 detection assays, including immunoglobulin and antigen tests, in addition to their use as medicines. Effects of root Growth of Deep and Shallow rooting rice Cultivars in Compacted Paddy Soils on Subsequent rice Growth

rice is often grown as multiple seasons in one year,alternating between flooded and upland systems.A major constraint,introduced from the flooded system,is a plough pan that may decrease rooting depth and productivity of follow-on upland *** penetrating the plough pan under flooded rice system can leave a legacy of weaker root growth *** rooting rice cultivars could have a bigger impact,but no direct evidence is *** explore whether a deep rather than a shallow rooting rice cultivar grown in a flooded cropping cycle benefited deeper root growth of follow-on rice in an upland,reduced tillage cropping cycle,a simulated flooded paddy in greenhouse was planted with deep(Black Gora) and shallow(Ir64) rooting cultivars and a plant-free *** plough pans were made in between the topsoil and subsoil to form different treatments with no plough pan(0.35 MPa),soft plough pan(1.03 MPa) and hard plough pan(1.70 MPa).After harvest of this ‘first season’ rice,the soil was drained and undisturbed to simulate zero-tillage upland and planted rice cultivar BrrI Dhan *** overall root length density(rLD),root surface area,the numbers of root tips and branching of BrrI Dhan 28 did not vary between plough pan and no plough pan *** with the shallow rooting rice genotype,the deep rooting rice genotype as ‘first season’ crop produced 19% greater rLD,34% greater surface area and 29% more branching of BrrI Dhan 28 in the *** the topsoil,however,BrrI Dhan 28 had 28% greater rLD,35% greater surface area and 43% more branching for the shallow rather than deep rooting genotype planted in the ‘first season’.The results suggested that rice cultivar selection for a paddy cycle affects root growth of a follow-on rice crop grown under no-till,with benefits to subsoil access from deep rooting cultivars and topsoil proliferation for shallow rooting cultivars.

Influence of Agitation rate on the Growth of md. Pineapple Protocorm-Like Bodies and Shoots in Liquid-Shake Culture

The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of agitation rate on the increase in fresh weight of md. pineapple protocorm-like bodies (PLBs) and shoots cultured in liquid medium. PLBs were cultured in 250 ml Erlenmeyer flasks (7 g per flask) containing MS medium and plant growth regulators (1.5 mg/L 6-Benzylaminopurine, BAP and 0.2 mg/L 1-Naphthaleneacetic acid, NAA). The orbital shaker was set at speeds of 50, 80, 100, 120, and 150 rpm. After 40 days, the cultures shaken at 80 rpm showed the highest fresh weight and the highest number of shoots at 76 g and 41 shoots, respectively. A comparative study of agitation found that 80 rpm was the best speed which enhanced both PLB and shoot formation. The findings in the present study would be helpful in setting up large-scale in vitro mass propagation of md. pineapple.

The incidence of dengue in Malaysia has shown an increasing trend since the year 2000. Vector control is the primary approach for dengue control in Malaysia. There is an urgent need for new or modified approaches such as the residual spraying on the outer walls that can potentially last long enough to control the Aedes population, particularly in the outbreak-prone areas. In this field study, we conducted outdoor residual spraying (OrS) using a newly formulated polymer-enhanced suspension concentrate (SC-PE) of deltamethrin. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the efficacy of OrS using deltamethrin SC-PE and its effect on wild Aedes populations and to assess its residual bio-efficacy on painted cement walls against the pyrethroid-susceptible strains of lab.ratory-reared Aedes mosquitoes. Three rounds of spraying in a four-month cycle were conducted between 2014 and 2015 in four residential areas (low-rise and high-rise housing types) in Hulu Langat, Selangor. The bio-efficacy of the insecticide was evaluated by assessing its impact on vector population using ovitrap surveillance. Standard WHO wall deposit bioassay was adapted to determine bio-efficacy of deltamethrin, i.e. post 30 min knockdown and post 24 h mortality after exposure. During the treatment period, we observed significant reductions in the population of Ae. albopictus in the sprayed low-rise housing in both semi-indoor and outdoor environments, while in the high-rise housing, there was also a significant decline in Ae. aegypti population in the semi-indoor environment. The evaluation of the residual bio-efficacy of deltamethrin SC-PE against lab.ratory-reared Aedes mosquitoes showed that the insecticide lasted longer in the high-rise housing compared to the low-rise housing with >80% mortality achieved continuously for 16 weeks. We provide initial evidence on residual efficacy of deltamethrin SC-PE in reducing Aedes population size in the low-rise and high-rise housing. Our results showed tha
