Recently, the textile industry has increasingly advocated for natural resource-based healthcare textiles. This research presents a facile and eco-friendly approach to developing durable antibacterial polyester fabrics. Polyester fabric was first subjected to an alkaline hydrolysis to impart hydroxyl groups on the fiber surface. A natural antibacterial agent, betaine, was then covalently bonded to the hydrolyzed polyester fiber surface through esterification. XPS, Raman, SEM, and Wicking measurements were carried out to verify the esterification reaction. Antibacterial tests confirmed that betaine treatment grafted polyester fabrics revealed a remarkable antibacterial effect with inhibition rates > 99.9% against both E. coli and S. aureus and still remained inhibition rates of up to 91.5% against both bacteria after home washing for 20 cycles. Moreover, the modification significantly increased the capillary effect of polyester fabric but did not cause apparent adverse effects on the fabric’s hand or tensile strength. Overall, this grafting strategy for durable, antibacterial polyester fabric represents a significant practicality in the textile industry.

Capsicum is a nutritious vegetable and its cultivation in farms is getting popular in Bangladesh. Although many efforts have lain to explore better yielding and nutritionally rich cultivars with suitable modern cultivation techniques but still have to find the desired outcome. Thus, it’s necessary to conduct further research to identify the high-yielding and nutritious capsicum cultivars in Bangladesh. An experiment was conducted from July 2021 to June 2022 at the Bangladesh Institute of Research and Training on Applied Nutrition (BIRTAN) research field with three cultivars of capsicum: B0 = California Wonder, B1 = BARI Misti Morich-1 and B2 = BARI Misti Morich-2 and three mulching: T0 = No mulching, T1 = Water hyacinth, T2 = Poly Mulching in randomized complete block design with three replications to identify better quality capsicum cultivar and suitable mulching material. Among cultivars the BARI Misti Morich-2 (B2) showed increased agronomic parameters like number of branches and effective branches per plant, leaves length and width, consequently yield and yield contributing traits were also enhanced like fruits per plant, fruit length, fruit diameter and yield per plant (25.97%, 4.54%, 3.64% and 21.43%, respectively). Poly Mulching (T2) increased agronomic traits, yield traits and yield (0.61 kg) than BARI Misti Morich-1 (T1). The combined effect of B2T2 increased the number of branches per plant, effective branches per plant, leaves length and breadth by 40%, 90%, 15.57% and 26.22%, respectively, hence resulting in an increased yield of 20%. BARI Misti Morich-2 cultivar showed an increase in Fe, Zn and Vitamin-C content of 26.24% and 23.10%, 8.82% and 5.14%, and 6.03% and 5.74% than B0 and B1 cultivars, respectively. The objective of this study is to analyze a chemostat model of very simple type with the Haldane expression of growth rate and a variable yield coefficient. The proposed modified model is analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Analytic conditions for stability and optimality are determined for washout and no washout equilibrium solutions. One of the main focuses of the study is to determine parameter values for which Hopf Bifurcations occur in a bioreactor. It has been shown that the maximum stable non-washout equilibrium exits at a residence time under suitable parameter values. Hopf bifurcation is observed at three different conditions of the parameters.

Household solid waste management is a major public health concern in the community people and closely related to daily human life. Community people can play a pivotal role in managing household solid waste. Objectives: This study was aimed to assess the awareness and practice of household solid waste management among the people living in the Mugda community in Dhaka. Methods: A descriptive co-relational study design was used. A total of 112 participants were selected with the convenience sampling technique. The data collection period was from July 2019 to June 2020. The data were collected from the participants by face-to-face interview through the door-to-door survey by using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using descriptive, Pearson correlation, t-test, and one-way ANOVA statistics. Results: Finding of the study shows that the mean awareness regarding household solid waste management was 7.96 (SD = 1.64) and the mean practice was 2.94 (SD = 1.35) respectively. It indicates that the awareness and practice of community people were at a moderate level. In bivariate analysis, it has been shown that training on household solid waste management (“P Conclusion: Overall awareness and practice level of household solid waste management were at a moderate level among the community people. Training on household solid waste management and recyclable waste management were statistically significantly correlated with household solid waste management. Policymakers can use this baseline data to make a strategy for increasing awareness among the community people.

背景:植入式输液港装置(Totally Implantable Venous Access Port,TIVAP)和外周植入式中心静脉导管(Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters,PICC)是在接受化疗或完全肠外营养的肿瘤患者中应用最广泛的两种中心静脉通路。TIVAP的使用寿命比PICC长,而PICC的初期费用比TIVAP低。然而如今并没有很好的指南可以供临床医生在患者中以最低的成本安全地使用它们。因此,比较TIVAP和PICC在肿瘤患者中使用的并发症和费用差异,以及各自的优缺点,包括使用期间或使用后所导致的线路闭塞、感染、导管相关血栓、渗出、静脉炎、错位和意外取出率等,这可以使临床医师为患者做出更好的决策提供依据。医生通过熟悉它们的使用方法、相关并发症、以及并发症的诊断和管理,可以更确保患者的安全以及减轻患者的额外经济负担。方法:我们严格按照cochrane系统评价及Meta分析操作指南的要求,通过检索美国国立医学图书馆(The United States National Library of Medicine,NLM)、澳大利亚循证护理合作中心(Joanna Briggs Institute,JBI)、Cochrane图书馆、美国科学网(Web of Science)、CINAHL数据库、中国生物医学文献数据库(China Biology Medicine disc,CBM)、中国知网(China National Knowledge Infrastructure,CNKI)、谷歌学术(Google Scholars)等数据库,全面的搜索出在癌症患者中应用TIVAP和PICC的相关回顾性研究的英文文献;然后采用病例对照研究质量评估标准表(Newcastle-ottawa quality assessment scale,NOS评分量表),对每一篇病例对照研究的病例组和对照组的病例从病例选择、可比性、暴露等三个维度进行分层评估,满分9分;接着提取其中的每个病例的导管寿命、导管相关并发症如:导管闭塞、导管引起的感染、导管位置不正、导管相关血栓、导管存留导致的过敏、导管滞留引起的疼痛以及导管的使用期间的总费用,其中费用还分为6个月的费用和12个月的费用情况等相关数据。两名审查员共同完成筛选、试验选择、质量评估、数据提取等工作,当遇到有分歧时,通过共同讨论,得出一致性结果,从而确定最终的评分及纳入文章。得到的数据采用STATA10软件进行Meta分析,比值比(Odds Ratio,OR)值及95%置信区间(Confidence Interval,CI)用于评估二分类变量,其中OR值=1意味着两组发生率相等、两发生率无统计学意义,OR值的森林图的无效竖线在横坐标=1处。标准均值差(Standardized Mean Difference,Smd)用于计算连续性变量如导管寿命和导管相关总花费,是试验组的均数减去对照组均数的差,Smd=0代表了两组的均数无统计学意义,故Smd的森林图的无效竖线在横坐标=0处。I检验用于对试验各组间的差异进行异质性检验,当I50%为高度异质性检验,当异质性I小于50%时,我们采用固定效应模型,当异质性较大,I大于50%时,采用随机效应模型。结果:1.在我们的结果中,我们共纳入病例对照研究8篇,均为英文文献,共1316名患者被纳入研究。文献质量NOS评分均≥6分。***分析结果显示,置管相关数据中,4项研究比较了TIVAP组与PICC组的意外移除率,首先对这4项研究进行异质性检验(I0.05),显示无明显统计学差异。4项研究比较了TIVAP组与PICC组的导管寿命,首先对这4项研究进行异质性检验(I>50%),研究间存在着较为明显的异质性,故采用随机效应模型。TIVAP组的寿命与PICC组的寿命相比,结果为(Smd:1.742,95%CI,0.935-2.548,P<0.05),提示两组间的寿命无明显统计学差异。3.对于导管并发症相关数据的研究结果提示:有4项研究比较了TIVAP组与PICC组的导管闭塞事件,首先对这4项研究进行异质性检验(I<25%),研究间无明显异质性,遂采取固定效应模型。TIVAP组与PICC组的闭塞事件相比,结果为(OR:0.11,95%CI,0.03-0.38,P<0.05),有统计学差异,显示TIVAP组的闭塞发生率明显低于PICC组。有7项研究比较了TIVAP组与PICC组的导管相关感染,首先对这7项研究进行异

Background: Chronic Heart Failure is a complex clinical conditions affecting patients’ Quality of Life (QoL) globally. Objective: The aim of the study was to identify the factors influencing the quality of life of the chronic heart failure patients. Methods: A descriptive exploratory study was carried out by face-to-face interview with structured standard questionnaire. One hundred and forty two hospitalized chronic heart failure patients were conveniently recruited from National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease and Hospital, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Data were collected from January to February, 2019. Quality of life related factors were identified using Patients’ General Characteristics Questionnaire. QOL of chronic heart failure patients was measured by the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ) and the World Health Organization’s Quality of Life Instrument-Short Version (WHOQOL-BREF). Descriptive statistic was used to describe the samples’ characteristics. Association between Socio-demographic characteristics and QOL of chronic heart failure patients was measured using t-test and one way of ANOVA. Relationship between continuous variables was measured by Pearson correlation test. Results: Findings reveal that mean of the total chronic heart failure related quality of life was 94.16 (SD = 3.20) out of maximum of 105. This high score indicates worsen chronic heart failure patients’ quality of life. The mean score of general quality of life of chronic heart failure patients was calculated as 41.05 (SD = 5.109) out of maximum of 130 which indicates low level of general quality of life of chronic heart failure patients. There is a significant positive correlation found between disease related quality of life and general quality of life of chronic heart failure patients. Staphylococcus aureus infection remains an increasing problem for higher morbidity and mortality in burn patients. We sought to determine the frequency of methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) in burn wound patients and study their drug resistance genes. Samples were collected (August 2010 to October 2011) from burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Bangladesh. MRSA was identified by conventional culture based methods. S. aureus was confirmed in 44.44% burn wound samples and 22.5% of the isolates were oxacillin resistant. All the S. aureus isolates were resistant to commonly used drugs like amoxicillin, azactam, erythromycin, azithromycin etc. and were sensitive to imipenem. The isolates were devoid of plasmid and the gene mecA, femA and IS431 were detected in their chromosomal DNA. Computational analysis of mecA gene sequence showed homology to S. aureus “penicillin binding protein 2a” (PBP-2a). The higher association of MRSA is in burn unit of DMCH, Bangladesh is alarming and with inappropriate antibiotic use, and the situation gets even complicated to treat. Therefore, the detection system and control practices for MRSA in DMCH should be improved in the hospital settings.

目的了解孟加拉国兰加马蒂蚊类种群群落特征,为当地媒介蚊虫控制措施的制定提供依据。方法 2019年9月,在孟加拉国兰加马蒂人房和牛房采用诱蚊灯通宵诱捕成蚊,形态鉴定蚊种并分析其群落特征。结果共捕获蚊虫2亚科7属33种6 445只,当地的优势蚊种为菲律宾按蚊和三带喙库蚊,分别占捕获蚊总数的37.66%(2 427/6 445)和35.67%(2 299/6 445)。人房致倦库蚊构成比较高,为73.59%(719/977);牛房菲律宾按蚊占41.73%(282/5 468),三带喙库蚊占41.04%(2 244/5 468)。蚊虫Shannon-Wienner多样性指数为1.62,Simpson多样性指数为0.29,Pielou均匀度指数0.46。结论孟加拉国兰加马蒂蚊虫种类丰富,疟疾和乙型脑炎媒介蚊虫属于当地优势蚊虫种群。应进一步加强孟加拉国蚊虫群落特征研究,为当地媒介蚊虫控制措施的制定提供参考依据。

Electromigration is a main challenge in the pursuit of power electronics, because physical limit to increase current density in power electronics is electromigration (EM), whereas much higher electrical current and voltage are required for power electronics packaging. So the effect of EM is an important issue in applications where high current densities are used, such as in microelectronics and related structures (e.g., Power ICs). Since the structure size of integrated circuits (ICs) decreases and the practical significance of this effect increases, the result is EM failure. On the other hand, in the next generation power electronics technology electrical current density is expected to exceed 107 A/cm2 which is another challenge. This review work has been carried out to identify the mechanism of EM damage in power electronics (e.g., pure metallization and solder joints) and also how to control this kind of damage.
