A computational study of superconducting states near the superconductingnormal phase boundary in mesoscopic finite cylinders is *** computational approach uses a finite element method to find numerical solutions of the linearized Ginzburg-Landau equation for samples with various sizes,aspect ratios,and crosssectional shapes,i.e.,squares,triangles,circles,pentagons,and four star *** vector potential is determined using a finite element method with two penalty terms to enforce the gauge conditions that the vector potential is solenoidal and its normal component vanishes at the surface(s)of the *** eigenvalue problem for the linearized Ginzburg-Landau equations with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions is solved and used to construct the superconducting-normal phase boundary for each ***-antivortex(V-AV)configurations for each sample that accurately reflect the discrete symmetry of each sample boundary were found through the computational *** V-AV configurations are realized just within the phase boundary in the magnetic field-temperature phase *** are made between the results obtained for the different sample shapes.

Background:Skeletal muscle energetics decline with age,and physical activity(PA)has been shown to offset these declines in older ***,many studies reporting these effects were based on self-reported PA or structured exercise ***,we examined the associations of accelerometry-measured and self-reported PA and sedentary behavior(SB)with skeletal muscle energetics and explored the extent to which PA and sedentary behavior would attenuate the associations of age with muscle ***:As part of the Study of Muscle,Mobility and Aging,enrolled older adults(n=879),810(age=76.4±5.0 years old,mean±SD;58%women)had maximal muscle oxidative capacity measured ex vivo via high-resolution re spirometry of permeabilized myofibers(maximal oxidative phosphorylation(maxOXPHOS))and in vivo by ^(31)phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy(maximal adenosine triphosphate(ATP_(max))).Accelerometry-measured sedentary behavior,light activity,and moderate-to-vigorous PA(MVPA)were assessed using a wrist-worn ActiGraph GT9X over 7 ***-reported sedentary behavior,MVPA,and all PA were assessed with the Community Healthy Activities Model Program for Seniors(CHAMPS)*** regression models with progressive covariate adjustments evaluated the associations of sedentary behavior and PA with muscle energetics,as well as the attenuation of the age/muscle energetics association by MVP A and sedentary *** a sensitivity analysis,we also examined activPAL-measured daily step count and time spent in sedentary behavior and their associations with muscle ***:every 30 min/day more of ActiGraph-measured MVPA was associated with 0.65 pmol/(s×mg)higher maxOXPHOS and 0.012 mM/s higher ATP_(max)after adjusting for age,site/technician,and sex(ped with maxOXPHOS or ATP_(max).Meanwhile,every 30 min/day spent in ActiGraph-measured sedentary behavior was associated with 0.39 pmol/s×mg lower maxOXPHOS and0.

Harmful cyanobacterial blooms are a growing environmental problem worldwide in natural waters, the biodegradation is found to be the most efficient method for removing microcystins 0VICs） produced by harmful cyanobacteria. Based on the isolation of a promising bacterial strain of Sphingopyxis sp. USTB-05 for biodegrading MCs, we for the first time cloned and expressed a gene USTB-O5-A （HM245411） that is responsible for the first step in the biodegradation of microcystin Lr （MC-Lr） in e. coli DH5ct, with a cloning vector of pGeM-T easy and an expression vector of pGeX-4T-1, respectively. The cell-free extracts （Ce） of recombinant e. coli DH5ct containing USTB-O5-A had high activity for biodegrading MC-Lr. The initial MC-Lr concentration of 40 mg/L was completely biodegraded within 1 hr in the presence of Ce with a protein concentration of 0.35 mg/mL. Based on an analysis of the liquid chromatogram-mass spectrum （LC-MS）, the enzyme encoded by gene USTB-O5-A was found to be active in cleaving the target peptide bond between 3-amino-9-methoxy-2,6, 8-trimethyl-10-phenyl-deca-4,6-dienoic acid （Adda） and arginine of MC-Lr, and converting cyclic MC-Lr to linear MC-Lr as a first product that is much less toxic than parent MC-Lr, which offered direct evidence for the first step on the pathway of MC-Lr biodegradation by Sphingopyxis sp. USTB-05.

A rare Case of Non-small Cell Lung Carcinoma Squamous Phenotype with epstein-Barr Virus Positivity with Prolonged response to both Chemotherapy and radiotherapy

We present a rare challenging case of metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with epstein-Barr virus positivity that was also diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis at the same time. Palliative chemotherapy gemcitabine and carboplatin was started after two weeks of anti-tuberculosis treatment with the hopes that this period would be sufficient to keep acid fast bacilli non-viable to minimise risk of tuberculosis re-activation due to chemotherapy induced immunosuppression. She completed four cycles of chemotherapy and six months of anti-tuberculosis treatment with good results and minimal side effects. Two years later, there was disease recurrence in cervical and mediastinal lymph nodes which was treated with local treatment i.e. surgery and palliative radiotherapy. It has been two years since last radiotherapy and overall more than five years since diagnosis with no active disease at present. Given the complexity and rarity of this case, significant multidisciplinary team involvement, including oncologists and radiation oncologists, pulmonologists with special interest in tuberculosis and pathologists was necessary throughout.

We investigate the magnetism of a previously unexplored distorted spin-1/2 kagome model consisting of three symmetry-inequivalent nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic Heisenberg couplings J_(■),J,and J′,and uncover a rich ground state phase diagram even at the classical *** analytical arguments and numerical techniques we identify a collinear Q^(→)=0 magnetic phase,two unusual non-collinear coplanar Q^(→)=(1/3,1/3)phases and a classical spin liquid phase with a degenerate manifold of non-coplanar ground states,resembling the jammed spin liquid phase found in the context of a bond-disordered kagome *** further show with density functional theory calculations that the recently synthesized Y-kapellasite Y_(3)Cu_(9)(OH)_(19)C_(l8) is a realization of this model and predict its ground state to lie in the region of Q^(→)=(1/3,1/3)order,which remains stable even after the inclusion of quantum fluctuation effects within variational Monte Carlo and pseudofermion functional renormalization *** presented model opens a new direction in the study of kagome antiferromagnets.

Struvite (MgNH4PO4·6H2O) produced synthetically from a stock solution of known phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N) concentrations has been shown to be an effective, alternative fertilizer-P source for various crops, but little is known about the potential agronomic effectiveness of struvite created from an actual municipal wastewater source. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of soil [i.e., Creldon silt loam (Oxyaquic Fragiudalf) and Calloway silt loam (Aquic Fraglossudalf) series], fertilizer-P source [i.e., synthetically produced electrochemically precipitated struvite (eCSTsyn), real-wastewater-derived eCST (eCSTreal), chemically precipitated struvite (CPST), monoammonium phosphate (MAP), and an unamended control (UC)], and irrigation water type (i.e., tapwater and struvite-removed wastewater) on corn (Zea mays L.) and soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] growth and N, P, and magnesium (Mg) uptake in a 60-day, greenhouse potted-plant study. Crop growth and N, P, and Mg uptakes for the struvite treatments (i.e., CPST, eCSTsyn, and eCSTreal) were generally similar to or at least 1.2 times greater than MAP. The eCSTsyn material commonly had up to five times greater N, P, and Mg uptake in corn and soybean than any other fertilizer-P source. Struvite-removed wastewater resulted in at least 1.3 times lower dry matter and N, P, and Mg uptake than tapwater. Similar corn and soybean results from the struvite fertilizers among the various soil-water type combinations compared to MAP suggest that struvite generates similar crop responses as at least one widely used, commercially available, multi-nutrient fertilizer-P source.

AIM: To compare the effect of calcium and cholecalciferol alone and along with additional sodium fluoride or ibandronate on bone mineral density (BMD) and fractures in patients with Crohn's disease (CD). MeTHODS: Patients (n =148) with reduced BMD (T-score ere randomized to receive cholecalciferol (1000 IU) and calcium citrate (800 mg) daily alone(group A, n = 32) or along with additional sodium fluoride (25 mg bid) (group B, n = 62) or additional ibandronate (1 mg iv/3-monthly) (group C, n = 54). Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry of the lumbar spine (L1-L4) and proximal right femur and X-rays of the spine were performed at baseline and after 1.0, 2.25 and 3.5 years. Fracture-assessment included visual reading of X-rays and quantitative morphometry of vertebral bodies (T4-L4).reSULTS: One hundred and twenty three (83.1%) patients completed the first year for intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis. Ninety two (62.2%) patients completed the second year and 71 (47.8%) the third year available for per-protocol (PP) analysis. With a significant increase in T-score of the lumbar spine by +0.28 ± 0.35 [95% conf idence interval (CI): 0.162-0.460, P roup A, +0.22 ± 0.33 (95% CI: 0.125-0.321, P roup B and +0.22 ± 0.38 (95% CI: 0.111-0.329, P roup C, respectively, during the 1.0, 2.25 and 3.5 year periods (PP analysis), no treatment regimen was superior in any in- or between-group analyses. In the ITT analysis, similar results in all in- and between-group analyses with a significant in-group but non-significant between-group increase in T-score of the lumbar spine by 0.38 ± 0.46 (group A, P roup B, P roup C, P < 0.01) was

A sparse-grid method for solving multi-dimensional backward stochastic differential equations （BSDes） based on a multi-step time discretization scheme [31] is presented. In the multi-dimensional spatial domain, i.e. the Brownian space, the conditional mathe- matical expectations derived from the original equation are approximated using sparse-grid Gauss-Hermite quadrature rule and （adaptive） hierarchical sparse-grid interpolation. error estimates are proved for the proposed fully-discrete scheme for multi-dimensional BSDes with certain types of simplified generator functions. Finally, several numerical examples are provided to illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of our scheme.
