The intrinsic affinity of DNA molecules toward metallic ions can drive the specific formation of copper nanostructures within the nucleic acid helix structure in a sequence-dependent manner. The resultant nanostructures have interesting fluorescent and electrochemical properties, which are attractive for novel biosensing applications. However, the potential of using DNA-templated nano- structures for precision disease diagnosis remains unexplored. Particularly, DNA- templated nanostructures show high potential for the universal amplification-free detection of different RNA biomarker species. Because of their low cellular levels and differing species-dependent length and sequence features, simultaneous detection of different messenger RNAs, microRNAs, and long non-coding RNAs species with a single technique is challenging. Here, we report a contemporary technique for facile in situ assembly of DNA-templated copper nanoblocks （CuNBs） on various RNA species targets after hybridization-based magnetic isolation. Our approach circumvents the typical limitations associated with amplification and labeling procedures of current RNA assays. The synthesized CuNBs enabled amplification-free fm-level RNA detection with flexible fluorescence or electrochemical readouts. Furthermore, our nanosensing technique displays potential for clinical application, as demonstrated by non-invasive analysis of three diagnostic RNA biomarkers from a cohort of 10 prostate cancer patient urinary samples with 100%-concordance （quantitative reverse transcription- polymerase chain reaction （PCR） validation）. The good analytical performance and versatility of our method may be useful in both diagnostics and research fields.

Energy performance contracting(EPC)has emerged as a useful project financ-ing and delivery tool for building retrofits,particularly among building owner-ships which have experienced reduced funding for capital *** EPC,a contractor(called the EPC contractor or the energy service company)guaran-tees minimum energy savings performance and enables the building owner to finance the project using utility savings over the length of the project(which is typically 12-15 years,or longer).Despite its growing use,there is a dearth of lit-erature regarding a contractor’s risks related to the delivery and execution of EPC building *** is particularly important as the performance guarantee effec-tively transfers project performance risk from the owner to the EPC *** research proposes a project factors-based risk framework for EPC building retrofits,initially developed through a comprehensive review of relevant literature and project documents and refined through the elicited expertise of 19 highly expe-rienced EPC contracting professionals.A Delphi technique-based expertise elici-tation strategy was used to confirm the findings of the a priori(literature-based)framework and provide additional analysis related to risk causes and control mea-sures as well as relative risk *** information was used to construct a refined risk framework which provides insight into the lengthy project performance period during the earliest phases of the project’s life *** has the advantage of providing rapid screening of the project factors that can potentially lead to the greatest project performance risks.

The energy performance of an existing building is the amount of energy consumed to meet various needs associated with the standardized use of a building and is reflected in one or more indicators known as Building Energy Performance Indicators(EnPIs).These indicators are distributed amongst six main factors influencing energy consumption:climate,building envelope,building services and energy systems,building operation and maintenance,occupants’activities and behaviour,and indoor environmental *** improvement made to either the existing structure or the physical and operational upgrade of a building system that enhances energy performance is considered an energy efficiency *** main goal of this research is to support the implementation of multifamily residential building energy retrofits through expert knowledge consensus on EnPIs for energy efficiency retrofit plan*** research methodology consists of a comprehensive literature review which has identified 35 EnPIs for assessing performance of existing residential buildings,followed by a ranking questionnaire survey of experts in the built-environment to arrive at a priority listing of indicators based on mean *** was followed by concordance analysis and measure of standard deviation.A total of 280 experts were contacted globally for the survey,and 106 completed responses were received resulting in a 37.85%response *** respondents were divided into two groups for analysis:academician/researchers and industry *** primary outcome of the research is a priority listing of EnPIs based on the quantitative data from the knowledge-base of experts from these two *** is the outcome of their perceptions of retrofitting factors and corresponding indicators.A retrofit strategy consists of five phases for retrofitting planning in which the second phase comprises an energy audit and performance assessment and *** research substantiates the performance assessment

A high degree of virulence diversity has been maintained in the population of Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici （Pgt） in northwestern United States. Although Berberis vulgaris is present in the region and Pgt has been isolated from aecial infections on B. vulgaris, the population is too diverse to be explained by the limited presence of B. vulgaris alone. Since 2008, we have isolated P. graminis from aecial infections on fruits of mahonia repens and mahonia aquifolium from northwestern United States. These two native woody shrub species, widely distributed in western North America, were once classified as resistant to P. graminis based on artificial inoculations. By isolating P. graminis from aecia, we established that m. repens and m. aquifolium along with B. vulgaris （albeit infrequent） serve as the alternate hosts ofP. graminis in the region. The isolates of P. graminis from mahonia of North America had diverse virulence patterns and most of the isolates could be differentiated on morocco, Line E, Chinese Spring, Little Club, LmPG-6, Rusty, and other genotypes that are considered to be universally susceptible to most Pgt isolates. This discovery explained the persistence of virulence diversity of Pgt observed in isolates derived from uredinia on cereal crops in the region. In addition to cereal crops, uredinial stage of the P. graminis population is sustained by wild grasses, especially Elymus glaucus, a native grass sharing the same habitat with the rusted mahonia spp. Although virulence to some important stem rust resistance genes was observed in some isolates derived from mahonia of North America when tested against single stem rust resistance gene stocks, the overall virulence is very limited in these isolates. This is likely a result of limited selection pressure on the rust population. Racial disparities in psychotic disorder diagnosis: A review of empirical literature

Psychotic disorder diagnoses are common in the United States and internationally. However, racial disparities in rates of psychotic disorder diagnoses have been reported across time and mental health professions. This literature review provides an updated and comprehensive summary of empirical research on race and diagnosis of psychotic disorders spanning a 24-year period. Findings reveal a clear and pervasive pattern wherein African American/Black consumers show a rate of on average three to four higher than Euro-American/White consumers. Latino American/Hispanic consumerswere also disproportionately diagnosed with psychotic disorders on average approximately three times higher compared to Euro-American/White consumers. In addition, a trend among international studies suggests that immigrant racial minority consumers receiving mental health services may be assigned a psychotic disorder diagnosis more frequently than native consumers sharing a majority racial background. Potential explanations for this phenomenon are discussed, including possible clinical bias and sociological causes such as differential access to healthcare and willingness to participate in mental health services. Directions for future research should include the exploration of disproportionate diagnoses according to race through qualitative interviewing as well as empirical investigation.

Crystalline phase of Y_2O_3 :Eu particles generated in a substrate-free flame process

In this study, factors affecting the crystal structure of flame-synthesized Y2O3 ：Eu particles were investigated, especially the particle size effect and its interaction with Eu doping concentration, Polydisperse Y2O3：Eu （size range 200 nm to 3μm） powder samples with Eu doping concentrations from 2,5 mol% to 25 mol% were generated in either H2/air or H2/O2 substrate-free flames. The crystal structure of the powder samples was determined by powder X-ray diffraction （XRD）, which was complemented by pho- toluminescence （PL） measurements. Single particle crystal structure was determined by single particle selected area electron diffraction （SAED）, and for the first time, by electron backscatter diffraction （EBSD）. H2/air flames resulted in cubic phase Y2O3：Eu particles with hollow morphology and irregular shapes, Particles from H2/O2 flames had dense and spherical morphology; samples with lower Eu doping concen- trations had mixed cubic/monoclinic phases; samples with the highest Eu doping concentrations were phase-pure monoclinic. For samples generated from H2/02 flames, a particle size effect and its interaction with Eu doping concentration were found： particles smaller than a critical diameter had the monoclinic phase, and this critical diameter increased with increasing Eu doping concentration, These findings suggest that the formation of monoclinic Y2O3：Eu is inevitable when extremely hot substrate-free flames are used, because typical flame-synthesized Y203 ：Eu particle sizes are well below the critical diameter, However, it may be possible to generate particles with dense, spherical morphology and the desired cubic structure by using a moderately high flame temperature that enables fast sintering without melting the particles.
