Dear Editor,Penile fracture is an infrequent urologic emergency with a nationwide incidence of 1 in 100000 men in the United states.1 Blunt trauma during sexual intercourse(penile-perineal impact)is the primary cause of penile fracture,but a variety of alternative mechanisms of injury have been reported in the literature.2 The vast majority of penile fractures occur in the external corpus cavernosum and manifest with the classic“eggplant deformity.”The location of these fractures makes them amenable to repair through a circumcising,degloving incision.

Aromatase activity has commonly been associated with male infertility characterized by testicular dysfunction with low serum testosterone and/or testosterone to estradiol *** this subset of patients,and particularly in those with hypogonadism,elevated levels of circulating estradiol may establish a negative feedback on the hypothalamic–pituitary–testicular axis by suppressing follicle-stimulating hormone(FsH)and luteinizing hormone(LH)production and impaired *** manipulation via different agents such as selective estrogen modulators or aromatase inhibitors to increase endogenous testosterone production and improve spermatogenesis in the setting of infertility is an off-label option for *** carried out a systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature of the past 30 years in order to evaluate the benefits of the use of aromatase inhibitors in the medical management of infertile/hypoandrogenic ***,eight original articles were included and critically *** steroidal(Testolactone)or nonsteroidal(Anastrozole and Letrozole)aromatase inhibitors were found to statistically improve all the evaluated hormonal and seminal outcomes with a safe tolerability *** the evidence is promising,future prospective randomized placebo-controlled multicenter trials are necessary to better define the efficacy of these medications.

The benefits of regular physical activity are well ***,few studies have examined the effectiveness of integrating physical activity(PA)into curricula within a post-secondary *** investigate the incorporation of PA into medical curriculum,we developed a series of optional exercise-based review sessions designed to reinforce musculoskeletal(MsK)anatomy course *** synchronous sessions were co-taught by a group fitness instructor and an anatomy *** fitness instructor would lead students through both strength and yoga style exercises,while the anatomy instructor asked questions about relevant anatomical structures related to course material previously *** the sessions,participants were asked to evaluate the classes on their self-reported exam preparedness in improving MsK anatomy knowledge,PA levels,and mental *** participants completed surveys;a majority agreed that the classes increased understanding of MsK concepts(90.0%)and activity levels(97.7%).Many(70.0%)felt that the classes helped reduce *** majority of respondents(90.0%)agreed that the classes contributed to increased feelings of social ***,medical students saw benefit in PA based interventions to supplement MsK course *** with increasing activity levels and promoting health behaviours,integrating PA into medical curriculum may improve comprehension of learning material,alleviate stress and foster social connectivity among medical students.

The development of low-temperature solid oxide fuel cells(LT-sOFCs)is of significant importance for realizing the widespread application of *** has stimulated a substantial materials research effort in developing high oxide-ion conductivity in the electrolyte layer of *** this context,for the first time,a dielectric material,CaCu_(3)Ti_(4)O_(12)(CCTO)is designed for LT-sOFCs electrolyte application in this *** individual CCTO and its heterostructure materials with a p-type Ni_(0.8)Co_(0.15)Al_(0.05)LiO_(2−δ)(NCAL)semiconductor are evaluated as alternative electrolytes in LT-sOFC at 450–550℃.The single cell with the individual CCTO electrolyte exhibits a power output of approximately 263 mW cm^(-2) and an open-circuit voltage(OCV)of 0.95 V at 550℃,while the cell with the CCTO–NCAL heterostructure electrolyte capably delivers an improved power output of approximately 605 mW cm^(-2) along with a higher OCV over 1.0 V,which indicates the introduction of high hole-conducting NCAL into the CCTO could enhance the cell performance rather than inducing any potential short-circuiting *** is found that these promising outcomes are due to the interplay of the dielectric material,its structure,and overall properties that led to improve electrochemical mechanism in CCTO–***,density functional theory calculations provide the detailed information about the electronic and structural properties of the CCTO and NCAL and their heterostructure CCTO–*** study thus provides a new approach for developing new advanced electrolytes for LT-sOFCs.

The performance of functional materials and specifically energy-related functional materials,such as fuel cells,solar cells,batteries and catalysts depends on the their local,nanoscale ***,heterogeneities in the phase,structure and composition of these functional materials makes it difficult to directly monitor and identify the influence of local physicochemical parameters on their global *** this review we will discuss recent developments in the field of IR nanospectroscopy that enables the extraction of detailed chemical information at the nanoscale and the identification of nanoscale properties that influence the global performances of functional ***,we will discuss the ways by which infrared (IR) nanospectroscopy techniques,namely photo thermal induced resonance (PTIR) and scattering scanning near-field optical microscopy (s-sNOM),are utilized in order to identify nanoscale properties and their influence on the functionality of halide-perovskite solar cells and catalytic *** the last part of this review we will address the technical challenges and opportunities in expanding the scope of IR nanospectroscopy measurements into the field of electrochemistry-based functional materials.

Endoscopic esophageal stent placement is widely used in the treatment of a variety of benign and malignant esophageal *** expanding metal stents(sEMs)are associated with significantly reduced stent related mortality and morbidity compared to plastic stents for treatment of esophageal conditions;however they have known complications of stent migration,stent occlusion,tumor ingrowth,stricture formation,reflux,bleeding and perforation amongst others.A rare and infrequently reported complication of sEMs is stent fracture and subsequent migration of the broken *** have only been a handful of published case reports describing this *** this report we describe a case of a spontaneously fractured nitinol esophageal sEMs,and review the available literature on the unusual occurrence of sEMs fracture placed for benign or malignant obstruction in the *** fracture could be a potentially dangerous event and should be considered in a patient having recurrent dysphagia despite successful placement of an esopha-geal *** usually requires endoscopic therapy and may unfortunately require surgery for retrieval of a distally migrated *** recognition and prompt management may be able to prevent further problems.

The opportunistic pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa commonly causes chronic and ultimately deadly lung infections in individuals with the genetic disease cystic fibrosis （CF）. P. aeruginosa is metabolically diverse; it displays a remarkable ability to adapt to and successfully occupy almost any niche, including the ecologically complex CF lung. These P. aeruginosa lung infections are a fascinating example of microbial evolution within a ＂natural＂ ecosystem. Initially, P. aeruginosa shares the lung niche with a plethora of other microorganisms and is vulnerable to antibiotic challenges. Over time, adaptive evolution leads to certain commonly-observed phenotypic changes within the P. aeruginosa population, some of which render it resistant to antibiotics and apparently help it to out-compete the other species that co-habit the airways. Improving genomics techniques continue to elucidate the evolutionary mechanisms of P. aeruginosa within the CF lung and will hopefully identify new vulnerabilities in this robust and versatile pathogen.

1 studies of seismic excitation of the polar motion The earth’s rotation varies slightly with time. The 3-D earth rotation variation canbe conveniently separated into two components: i) the 1-D variation in the spin rate, oftenexpressed in terms of the length-of-day variation, ii) the 2-D variation in the rotational axisorientation, known as the polar motion as seen in the terrestrial referenee frame.
