Adherence to medication behavior among tuberculosis patients and their affecting factors:a cross-sectional study at Public Health Center of Wonogiri District, Indonesia

Objective:This study aimed to identify the influence of predisposing,enabling,and reinforcing factors and the adherence to medication behavior among tuberculosis patients in Selogiri Wonogiri Public Health ***:This study employed a descriptive cross-sectional research design.A questionnaire was used to collect primary *** data were obtained from patient treatment cards(Form TB 01).This research was carried out at Selogiri Health Center from November to December *** participants were patients,both new and old patients,who had completed their treatment in the last 2 months or more,recorded from January 2016 to December 2017.A total sampling technique was used in this *** regression analysis was used to analyze the influence of predisposing,enabling,and reinforcing factors and the adherence to medication among tuberculosis ***:The results of logistic regression analysis indicated that there were four independent variables that have a significant relationship with treatment variables,namely education(odds ratio(OR)=0.025;95%confidence interval(CI)=0.001-0.039);knowledge(OR=3.37;95%CI=0.19-57.71);type of drug(OR=0.448;95%CI=0.012-16.07),and means of transportation(OR=25.77;95%CI=1.33-500.47).Conclusions:Education,knowledge,type of drug,and means of transportation influence medication compliance among tuberculosis ***,supporting patients during medication program of tuberculosis is needed to improve their adherence medication during multidrug therapy.

Improving antibiotic prescribing in the emergency department for uncomplicated community-acquired pneumonia

BACKGROUND:The Pediatric Infectious Disease Society(PIDS)and Infectious Disease Society of America(IDSA)published an evidence-based guideline for the treatment of uncomplicated communityacquired pneumonia(CAP)in children,recommending aminopenicillins as the first-line *** guideline compliance with 10%–50%of patients admitted to the hospital receiving narrow-spectrum antibiotics has been reported.A new clinical practice guideline(CPG)was implemented in our emergency department(ED)for uncomplicated *** aim of this study was to examine baseline knowledge and ED provider prescribing patterns pre-and post-CPG ***:Prior to CPG-implementation,an anonymous case-based survey was distributed to evaluate knowledge of the current PIDS/IDSA guideline.A retrospective chart review of patients treated in the ED for CAP from January 2015 to February 2017 was performed to assess prescribing patterns for intravenous(IV)antibiotics in the ED at Children’s National Health System pre-and post-CPG ***:ED providers were aware of the PIDS/IDSA guideline recommendations,with 86.4%of survey responders selecting ampicillin as the initial antibiotic of ***,only 41.2%of patients admitted to the hospital with uncomplicated CAP pre-CPG received ampicillin(P<0.01).There was no statistically signifi cant increase in ampicillin prescribing post-CPG(P=0.40).CONCLUSIONS:Providers in the ED are aware of the PIDS/IDSA guideline regarding the first-line therapy for uncomplicated CAP;however,this knowledge does not translate into clinical *** of a CPG in isolation did not significantly change prescribing patterns for uncomplicated CAP.

Electromyographic and Mechanomyographic Responses During Isokinetic Leg Extensions in Children Versus Adolescents

Purpose The purpose of this study was to examine peak torque(PT),mean power(MP),electromyographic(EMG)amplitude,mechanomyographic(MMG)amplitude,and neuromuscular efficiency from EMG and MMG amplitude(NME_(EMG)and NME_(MMG),respectively)across the velocity spectrum in children versus *** Seventeen children(n=8 males,n=9 females)and 22 adolescents(n=11 males,n=11 females)*** completed maximal concentric isokinetic leg extensions at 60,120,180,240 and 300°/***,MP,EMG amplitude,and MMG amplitude were quantified during all muscle ***_(EMG)and NME_(MMG)were quantified by expressing PT relative to EMG and MMG amplitude,respectively,for each muscle *** PT,MP,NME_(EMG),and NME_(MMG)were greater for the adolescents than the children collapsed across sex and veloc-ity(P≤0.021).There were no significant differences for EMG amplitude(P≥0.051),while MMG amplitude increased significantly from 60 to 240°/s(P<0.001)then decreased significantly from 240 to 300°/s(P<0.001)for all *** Overall,regardless of velocity,the expression of PT relative to EMG and MMG amplitude(NME_(EMG)and NME_(MMG),respectively),in conjunction with measurements of torque and power production,may provide practitioners a unique method of examining growth and development-related augmentations in neuromuscular function during dynamic movements.

Effects of Eccentric Pre-loading on Concentric Vertical Jump Performance in Young Female Athletes

Purpose This study examined changes in vertical jump performance with progressively greater eccentric pre-loading in relation to growth and development in young female *** Twenty young female athletes ranging from 9 to 17 years old performed the following vertical jumps in random order:static jumps(SJs),counter-movement jumps(CMJs),and drop jumps(DJs)from drop heights of 20,30,and 40 cm(DJ20,DJ30,and DJ40,respectively).Measurements included peak force(PF),peak rate of force development(RFD),peak power(PP),eccentric impulse(ECC),and concentric impulse(CON).Measurements of growth included age,maturity offset,height,body mass,fat-free mass,and thigh muscle cross-sectional area(CSA).Results PF increased from the SJ-DJ20(P<0.009),then plateaued from DJ20-DJ40(P=1.000).RFD remained the same from SJ-CMJ(P=1.000),increased from CMJ-DJ20(P<0.001),and plateaued from DJ20-DJ40(P=0.874).PP increased from the SJ-CMJ(P<0.001),then plateaued from the CMJ-DJ40(P≥0.486).CON remained the same across all verti-cal jumps(P=1.000),while ECC increased from the SJ-DJ40(P≤0.038).Jump height(JH)increased from the SJ-CMJ(P<0.001),decreased from CMJ-DJ20(P<0.001),and plateaued from DJ20-DJ40(P=1.000).The change in PP from the SJ-CMJ(ΔCMJ-SJ)was related to all measurements of growth except CSA(r=0.558-0.815).Conclusion Young females produced greater power during the CMJ than SJ,but equivalent power from the CMJ-DJ40,despite increases in ***,ΔCMJ-SJ was not related to CSA,which suggests other underlying mechanisms affect stretch-shortening cycle utilization in young female athletes.

Leg Extension Strength, Explosive Strength, Muscle Activation, and Growth as Predictors of Vertical Jump Performance in Youth Athletes

Purpose The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among leg extension strength,explosive strength,muscle activation,and measurements of growth to predictions of vertical jump performance in youth *** Height,body mass,skinfolds,and quadriceps femoris muscle cross-sectional area were measured in 39 sports active children(20 females,19 males,age=12.52±0.62 years old).Peak torque(PT),rate of torque development(RTD),rate of velocity development(RVD),and rate of electromyographic amplitude rise(RER)were measured during isometric and isokinetic leg ***,RTD,and RVD were expressed in absolute terms and normalized to body *** jump height(JH)and peak power(PP)were assessed during static(SJ),counter-movement(CMJ),and drop(DJ)*** JH exhibited greater correlations with PT normalized to body mass(r=0.387-0.758)than absolute PT(r=0.338-0.417),whereas PP exhibited greater correlations with absolute PT(r=0.368-0.837).Only negligible to moderate relation-ships existed between JH and PP across all jumps(r=0.053-0.605).Over 50%of the variability in PP was predicted in 24 of 30 regression models with absolute muscle strength,muscle activation,and measurements of growth,while only 6 of 30 models predicted more than 50%of the variability in *** Overall,absolute static and dynamic muscle strength,muscle activation,and growth better explained PP meas-ured during vertical jumps than estimated JH.

Introduction: Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular protozoan parasite that can infect any warm blood vertebrae, and if first trimester pregnant woman infected, it may cause abortion. The objective is to prove the effect of the Toxoplasma gondii concentration in anti-toxoplasma IgG-IgM antibody levels, and the outcomes of Balb/c mice pregnancies. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in Balb/c mice with inclusion criteria, and was conditioned pregnant. The pathogen strains of Toxoplasma gondii tachyzoite injected intraperitoneally. The blood samples were taken serially to be tested for anti-toxoplasma IgG-IgM antibody levels. After the mice were injected with tachyzoite, they are assessed every day to observe their body weight, vaginal bleeding, and labor. Anti-toxoplasma IgG-IgM antibody levels examined using qualitative mouse IgG-IgM antibody ELISA KIT. Results: Anti-toxoplasma IgM antibody levels increased significantly after 24 hours of injection tachyzoites in all dose groups, and remained high through day 21. Anti-toxoplasma antibody IgG levels increased significantly after 72 hours post injection and remained elevated until day 21. The incidence of abortion is 100% in mice which injected tachyzoite levels 1 × 103 and 1 × 104, and the incidence of abortion approximately 2 - 4 days post injection. 100% of mice that were injected with tachyzoites 1 × 101 and 1 × 102 have labor at term. Physical anomaly was found in baby mice from mice that were injected with tachyzoite 1 × 102. Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between the concentrations of Toxoplasma gondii tachyzoite with anti-toxoplasma IgG-IgM antibody levels, and there is a significant relationship between the concentrations of tachyzoite with abortion.
