Recent research establishes methods of controlled mechanical assembly as versatile routes to three-dimensional(3D)mesostructures from patterned 2D films,with demonstrated applicability to a broad range of materials(e.g.,semiconductors,polymers,metals,and their combinations)and length scales(e.g.,from sub-microscale to centimeter scale).Previously reported schemes use pre-stretched elastomeric substrates as assembly platforms to induce compressive buckling of 2D precursor structures,thereby enabling their controlled transformation into 3D ***,we introduce tensile buckling as a different,complementary strategy that bypasses the need for a pre-stretched platform,thereby simplifying the assembly process and opening routes to additional classes of 3D geometries unobtainable with compressive buckling.A few basic principles in mechanics serve as guidelines for the design of 2D precursor structures that achieve large out-of-plane motions and associated 3D transformations due to tensile *** and computational studies of nearly 20 examples demonstrate the utility of this approach in the assembly of complex 3D mesostructures with characteristic dimensions from micron to millimeter *** results also establish the use of nonlinear mechanics modeling as a mechanism for designing systems that yield desired 3D geometries.A strain sensor that offers visible readout and large detectable strain range through a collection of mechanically triggered electrical switches and LEDs serves as an application example.

Purpose The current study aimed to assess the changes in physical and perceptual markers of health,fitness,and well-being over the first semester of university study in a New Zealand *** In a pre-post longitudinal design,90 first-year university students(39 females,51 males,mean±SD age:18±2 years)studying in the field of health,sport and human performance underwent tests of body mass,height,body mass index(BMI),blood pressure,predicted VO_(2max),flexibility,countermovement jump height,handgrip strength,isometric mid-thigh pull strength,and well-being pre and post the first semester of university study(12 weeks).Results When evaluating the entire group,there was a significant increase in body mass(0.66 kg,P=0.004)and BMI(0.2 kg/m^(2),P=0.005)and decrease in the“engagement”construct of the well-being questionnaire(−0.2,P=0.03)over the first semester of *** total,73% of students living on-campus reported a decline in sleep and nutrition habits since starting university,in comparison to~35%-40% of students living off-campus(P≤0.03).Conclusion Similar to results seen in other countries,and despite the field of study,the first semester of university in New Zealand is likely to be associated with increases in body mass and BMI;however,changes in physical fitness and overall well-being measures were less obvious in the current study.

新形势下,面对关键核心技术“卡脖子”问题的挑战,系统提升我国科技研究的整体水平迫在眉睫。然而,我国现有知识创新生态研究的基本思路仍是以“大学、企业、政府”构成的“三螺旋”框架,无法体现新时代多元化主体、多样化路径、多种创新模式的平行共存与协同演化特征,致使研究者破题“卡脖子”难题时缺乏整合性视角与适用性框架的支撑。本研究基于知识创新范式转型背景下影响我国以系统工具解决“卡脖子”问题的核心挑战,深入探究新时代“模式3”知识创新“多重螺旋”(N-tuple helices)生态系统的主体特征与拓扑结构。以之为基础,讨论系统性提升我国科研创新能力,应对“卡脖子”挑战的可行路径与具体措施。

在过去的四分之一世纪里,内科和外科对心脏病人的处理已取得了巨大的进展和丰富的经验。在手术过程中的麻醉处理也获得了同样的进步。目前已普遍应用多种具有独特的血流动力学效应的吸入麻醉药、多种超短作用的麻醉药以及新型的适用于心脏病人的静脉麻醉药。同时,冠心病加强医疗病室(CCU)和手术后加强医疗病室(ICU)中行之有效的技术,已同样被麻醉学家用之于麻醉中。这为过去因麻醉危险而不敢进行手术的心脏病人获得有效的手术治疗提供了机会。正确地讲,这是生理学和药理学理论用于麻醉前、中、后而取得的成果。

A review is presented on the theories concerning the cause of pyloric stenosis with emphasis on the primary position of inherited hyperacidity in pathogenesis. Existing theories are critically analysed and the hyperacidity theory is precisely defined in the light of recent physiological insights into the gastrointestinal hormone motilin. The progressive fixed fasting hypergastrinaemia within the first few weeks of life will, in the baby who inherits acid secretion at the top of the normal range, produce hyperacidity of sufficient severity to trigger the process of acid-induced work hypertrophy of the pylorus. The potential contribution of motilin is discussed. The baby who inherits a normal gastric acidity will not reach acid levels severe enough to trigger sphincter hypertrophy despite the early gastrin stimulus. The potential threat will cease when gastrin naturally declines with age and the pyloric canal becomes wider. Genetic factors clearly must also be involved and these are separately discussed.
