Cells undergo metabolic reprogramming to adapt to changes in nutrient availability, cellular activity, and transitions in cell states. The balance between glycolysis and mitochondrial respiration is crucial for energy production, and metabolic reprogramming stipulates a shift in such balance to optimize both bioenergetic efficiency and anabolic requirements. Failure in switching bioenergetic dependence can lead to maladaptation and pathogenesis. While cellular degradation is known to recycle precursor molecules for anabolism, its potential role in regulating energy production remains less explored. The bioenergetic switch between glycolysis and mitochondrial respiration involves transcription factors and organelle homeostasis, which are both regulated by the cellular degradation pathways. A growing body of studies has demonstrated that both stem cells and differentiated cells exhibit bioenergetic switch upon perturbations of autophagic activity or endolysosomal processes. Here, we highlighted the current understanding of the interplay between degradation processes, specifically autophagy and endolysosomes, transcription factors, endolysosomal signaling, and mitochondrial homeostasis in shaping cellular bioenergetics. This review aims to summarize the relationship between degradation processes and bioenergetics, providing a foundation for future research to unveil deeper mechanistic insights into bioenergetic regulation.

【Title】There are knowledge gaps in our understanding of vegetation responses to multi-scale climate-related variables in tropical/subtropical mountainous islands in the Asia-Pacific region. Therefore, this study investigated inter-annual vegetation dynamics and regular/irregular climate patterns in Taiwan. We applied principal component analysis （PCA） on 11 years （2001~2011） of high-dimensional monthly photosynthetically active vegetation cover （PV） derived from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer （MODIS） and investigated the relationships between spatiotemporal patterns of the eigenvectors and loadings of each component through time and multi-scale climate-related variations. Results showed that the first five components contributed to 96.4% of the total variance. The first component （PC1, explaining 94.5% of variance） loadings, as expected, were significantly correlated with the temporal dynamics of the PV （r = 0.94）, which was mainly governed by regional climate. The temporal loadings of PC2 and PC3 （0.8% and 0.6% of variance, respectively） were significantly correlated with the temporal dynamics of the PV of forests （r = 0.72） and the farmlands （r = 0.80）, respectively. The low-order components （PC4 and PC5, 0.3% and 0.2% of variance, respectively） were closely related to the occurrence of drought （r = 0.49） and to irregular ENSO associated climate anomalies （r = -0.54）, respectively. Pronounced correlations were also observed between PC5 and the Southern Oscillation Index （SOI） with one to three months of time lags （r = -0.35 ~ -0.43, respectively）, revealing biophysical memory effects on the time-series pattern of the vegetation through ENSO-related rainfall patterns. Our findings reveal that the sensitivity of the ecosystems in this tropical/subtropical mountainous island may not only be regulated by regional climate and human activities but also be susceptible to large-scale climate anomalies which are crucial and comparable to previous large

Anthropogenic induced seismicity has been widely reported and investigated in many regions,including the shale gas fields in the Sichuan basin,where the frequency of earthquakes has increased substantially since the commencement of fracking in late ***,the details of how earthquakes are induced remain poorly understood,partly due to lack of high-resolution spatial-temporal data documenting the evolution of such seismic *** previous studies have been based on a diffusive earthquake catalog constructed by routine ***,however,we have constructed a high resolution catalog using a machine learning detector and waveform *** limited data,this new approach has detected one-third more earthquakes and improves the magnitude completeness of the catalog,illuminating the comprehensive spatial-temporal migration of the emerging seismicity in the target *** of the clusters clearly delineates a potential unmapped fault trace that may have led to the Mw 5.2 in September 2019,by far the largest earthquake recorded in the *** migration of the seismicity also demonstrates a pore-pressure diffusion front,suggesting additional constraints on the inducing mechanism of the *** patterns of the highly clustered seismicity reconcile the causal link between the emerging seismicity and the activity of hydraulic fracturing in the region,facilitating continued investigation of the mechanisms of seismic induction and their associated risks.

Rheological properties and screen printability of UV curable conductive ink for flexible and washable E-textiles

As a critical component for the realization of flexible electronics,multifunctional electronic textiles(etextiles)still struggle to achieve controllable printing accuracy,excellent flexibility,decent washability and simple *** printing process of conductive ink plays an important role in manufacturing e-textiles and meanwhile is also the main source of printing *** this work,we report the preparation of fully flexible and washable textile-based conductive circuits with screen-printing method based on novel-developed UV-curing conductive ink that contains low temperature and fast cure *** work systematically investigated the correlation between ink formulation,rheological properties,screen printability on fabric substrates,and the electrical properties of the e-textile made *** rheological behaviors,including the thixotropic behavior and oscillatory stress sweep of the conductive inks was found depending heavily on the polymer to diluent ratio in the ***,the rheological response of the inks during screen printing showed determining influence to their printability on textile,that the proper control of ink base viscosity,recovery time and storage/loss modulus is key to ensure the uniformity of printed conductive lines and therefore the electrical conductivity of fabricated e-textiles.A formulation with 24 wt%polymer and 10.8 wt%diluent meets all these stringent *** conductive lines with 1.0 mm width showed exceptionally low resistivity of 2.06×10^(-5)Ωcm Moreover,the conductive lines presented excellent bending tolerance,and there was no significant change in the sample electrical resistance during 10 cycles of washing and drying *** is believed that these novel findings and the promising results of the prepared product will provide the basic guideline to the ink formulation design and applications for screen-printing electronics textiles.

Patients with hepatocellular carcinoma have a very short life expectancy if they receive no surgical interven- tion. A relatively new surgical technique termed ＂Associating Liver Partition and Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepa- tectomy＂（ALPPS） has been employed for inducing rapid hypertrophy of the future liver remnant for patients waiting for hepatectomy. As portal vein embolization may not result in satisfactory hypertrophy before tumor progression occurs, ALPPS can be an alternative for patients with advanced hepa- tocellular carcinoma. Herein we describe an ALPPS procedure with tumor thrombectomy for a patient who had a small left liver lobe and a large hepatocellular carcinoma involving the whole right liver lobe and the middle hepatic vein and extend- ing into the inferior vena cava. In the first-stage operation, the right portal vein was controlled and divided with a Hemolock. The right hepatic artery was well protected. Hepatic transec- tion was performed with a 1-cm margin from the tumor. The middle hepatic vein trunk was preserved. ten days afterwards, there was significant hypertrophy of the left lateral section of the liver, and the second-stage operation was conducted. Ex- tended right hepatectomy and tumor thrombectomy were per- formed under sternotomy and total vascular exclusion. The patient had good recovery and was free of disease 10 months after the operation. ALPPS may be a good treatment option even for patients with advanced disease if carried out at high- volume centers.

In this study,2-[2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy]acetic acid(MEEAA)was used to modify the surface of barium titanate nanoparticles(BT NPs)to enhance the compatibility and dispersion of the BT ceramic fillers in polymer matrix.A uniform coating layer with a thickness about 2 nm was formed on the surface of BT after *** poly(vinylidene fluoride)-hexafluoropropene[P(VDF-HFP)]composites filled with MEEAA-modified BT NPs achieved higher permittivity(∼13 at 3.0 vol%filler)and discharged energy density than that of the untreated BT filled *** maximum discharge energy density of 7.8 J/cm^(3)was obtained in the nanocomposites with 3 vol%MEEAA-modified BT NPs at electric field of 425 kV/mm,which is 77%higher than that of 4.4 J/cm^(3)of pure P(VDF-HFP)film at electric field of 420 kV/mm.

Soybean is an important cash crop with unique and important traits such as the high seed protein and oil contents, and the ability to perform symbiotic nitrogen fixation. A reference genome of cultivated soybeans was established in 2010, followed by whole-genome re-sequencing of wild and cultivated soybean accessions. These efforts revealed unique features of the soybean genome and helped to understand its evolution. Mapping of variations between wild and cultivated soybean genomes were perfo^aned. These genomic variations may be related to the process of domestication and human selection. Wild soybean germplasms exhibited hiigh genomic diversity and hence may be an important source of novel genes/alleles. Accumulation of genomic data will help to refine genetic maps and expedite the identification of functional genes. In this review, we summarize the major findings from the whole-genome sequencing projects and discuss the possible impacts on soybean researches and breeding programs. Some emerging areas such as transcriptomic and epigenomic studies will be introduced. In addition, we also tabulated some useful bioinformatics tools that will help the mining of the soybean genomic data.
