schistosoma mansoni proteins attenuate gastrointestinal motility disturbances during experimental colitis in mice

AIM:To investigate the therapeutic effect of schistosoma mansoni(***) soluble worm proteins on gastrointestinal motility disturbances during experimental colitis in mice. METHODs:Colitis was induced by intrarectal injection of trinitrobenzene sulphate(TNBs) and 6 h later,mice were treated ip with *** *** were performed 5 d after TNBs *** quantified using validated inflammation parameters. Gastric emptying and geometric center were measured to assess in vivo gastrointestinal *** activity of distal colonic segments was studied in vitro using a modified Trendelenburg *** profiles of T-lymphocytes isolated from the colon were determined by real time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction. REsULTs:Intracolonic injection of TNBs caused severe *** with *** proteins significantly ameliorated colonic inflammation after 5 *** did not affect gastric emptying but significantly decreased the geometric center and impaired colonic peristaltic activity 5 d after the induction of *** with *** proteins ameliorated these in vivo and in vitro motility *** addition,TNBs injection caused a downregulation of effector T cell cytokines after 5 d,whereas a *** protein effect was no longer observed at this time point. CONCLUsION:Treatment with *** proteins attenuated intestinal inflammation and ameliorated motility disturbances during murine experimental colitis.

There is a strong evidence supporting the hypothesis of synaptic dysfunction as a major contributor to neural circuit and network disruption underlying emotional and mood dysregulation in psychiatric disorders(simmons et al.,2024).Diverse sets of distinct molecular signaling pathways converge on the synapse to regulate synaptogenesis,synaptic function,and synaptic plasticity in brain regions and circuits through complex interactions organized by numerous multivalent protein scaffolds,including the family of proteins known as A-kinase anchoring proteins(AKAPs).

OCTNs:Will the real IBD5 gene please stand up?

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are inflammatory disorders of the gastrointestinal tract with a substantial heritable component. The IBD5 region on chromosome 5q31 is one of only two loci widely confirmed to be associated with Crohn's disease in multiple independent cohorts. Although many populations have demonstrated association with IBD5, there remains uncertainty as to the causal variant within the region. A recent report identified polymorphisms in sLC22A4 (OCTN1) and sLC22A5 (OCTN2) as being responsible for the IBD5 association, however, these findings have not been replicated. This review discusses the data evaluating the IBD5 locus and the OCTN genes and their relationship to inflammatory bowel disease. several other genes, including IRF1 and P4HA2 may be equally as likely to contain the IBD5 causal variant as the OCTN genes.

Environmental noise alters gastric myoelectrical activity:Effect of age

AIM: To evaluate the effect of age and acoustic stress on gastric myoelectrical activity (GMA) and autonomic nervous system function. METHODs: Twenty-one male subjects (age range 22-71 years, mean 44 years) were recruited and exposed, in random order, to three auditory stimuli (Hospital noise, conversation babble and traffic noise) after a 20-min baseline. All periods lasted 20 min and were interspersed with a 10 min of recovery. GMA was obtained using a synectics Microdigitrapper. Autonomic nerve function was assessed by monitoring blood pressure and heart rate using an automatic recording device. REsULTs: Dominant power tended to decrease with increase of age (P sed during exposure to hospital noise (12.0%, P se (13.9%, P sation babble (7.1%). The subjects in the younger group (s) showed a consistent reduction in the percentage of 3 CPM activity during hospital noise (22.9%, P se (19.0%, P sation babble (15.5%). These observations were accompanied by a significant increase in bradygastria: hospital noise (P se (P st, the subjects over 50 years of age did not exhibit a significant decrease in 3 CPM activity. Regardless of age, noise did not alter blood pressure or heart rate. CONCLUsION: GMA changes with age. Loud noise can alter GMA, especially in younger individuals. Our data indicate that even short-term exposure to noise may alter the contractility of the stomach.

Morphology and efficiency enhancements of PTB7-Th:ITIC nonfullerene organic solar cells processed via solvent vapor annealing

The nanoscale morphology within the photoactive layer of organic solar cells is critical in determining the power conversion efficiency (PCE). Here, we draw attention to the roles of molecular arrangement, and domain size in improving performance, which can be tuned by subjecting the photovoltaic materials to solvent vapor annealing (sVA). In our PTB7-Th:ITIC devices, the PCE can be improved by exposing the device to solvent vapor for 60 s after solution casting. The solvent vapor prolongs reorganizational time and increases molecular ordering and domain size/phase separation, which are sub-optimal in pristine PTB7-Th:ITIC blend films. This improved morphology results in better charge mobility, reduced recombination, and ultimately an improved PCE from 7.1% to 7.9% when using Cs2 as the annealing solvent. This simple sVA technique can be applied to a range of OPV systems where the molecular ordering is inferior within the as-cast photoactive layer.

Light quality and temperature effects on antirrhinum growth and development

An experiment was carried out to examine the effects of light quality on the growth and development of antirrhinum under three different temperatures 19℃, 24℃ and 27℃ in glasshouses. Five different colour filters (i.e. 'Red absorbing', 'Blue absorbing', 'Blue and Red absorbing' and two 'partially Blue absorbing' materials) were tested, with one clear polythene as a control. Plant height, internode length and leaf area were significantly affected by the spectral filters as well as the *** of color filter's effect on presumed photoreceptors to exist indicated that antirrhinum plant height was regulated by the action of a blue acting photoreceptor (BAP) and not the phytochrome. There was no evidence for an effect ofphytochrome or BAP on time to flowering, however, increasing temperature levels effectively decreased the time to flowering. To predict the effects of different spectral qualities and temperature, simple models were created from data on plant height, internode length and time to flowering. These models were then applied to simulate the potential benefits of spectral filters and temperature in manipulation of growth control and flowering in antirrhinum.

Maximal number of distinct H-eigenpairs for a two-dimensional real tensor

Based on the generalized characteristic polynomial introduced by J. Canny in Generalized characteristic polynomials [J. symbolic Comput., 1990, 9（3）： 241-250], it is immediate that for any m-order n-dimensional real tensor, the number of distinct H-eigenvalues is less than or equal to n（m-1）n-1. However, there is no known bounds on the maximal number of distinct H- eigenvectors in general. We prove that for any m ~〉 2, an m-order 2-dimensional tensor sd exists such that d has 2（m - 1） distinct H-eigenpairs. We give examples of 4-order 2-dimensional tensors with six distinct H-eigenvalues as well as six distinct H-eigenvectors. We demonstrate the structure of eigenpairs for a higher order tensor is far more complicated than that of a matrix. Further- more, we introduce a new class of weakly symmetric tensors, called p-symmetric tensors, and show under certain conditions, p-symmetry will effectively reduce the maximal number of distinct H-eigenveetors for a given two-dimensional tensor. Lastly, we provide a complete classification of the H-eigenvectors of a given 4-order 2-dimensional nonnegative p-symmetric tensor. Additionally, we give sufficient conditions which prevent a given 4-order 2-dimensional nonnegative irreducible weakly symmetric tensor from possessing six pairwise distinct H-eigenveetors.

An assessment of interspecific competition between two introduced parasitoids of Diaphorina citri (Hemiptera: Liviidae)on caged citrus plants

Two parasitoids attacking nymphs of Asian citrus psyllid,Diaphorina citri Kuwayama (Hemiptera:Liviidae),Tamarixia radiata (Waterston)(Hymenoptera:Eulophi- dae)and Diaphoreneyrtus aligarhensis (shafee,Alam &Agarwal)(Hymenoptera:Encyrtidae)are being released in California,UsA in a classical biological control program. To evaluate the effect of multiple parasitoid species on *** mortality,we conducted mesocosm experiments under controlled conditions using a complete block design with 6 treatments (*** nymphs exposed to:no parasitoids;*** or *** alone;*** or *** released first (by 48 h);and both species released simultaneously).Parasitism of *** nymphs by *** exceeded 60%and was unchanged when *** were *** by *** was greatest when T. radiata was absent (-28%)and was reduced in all treatments with *** present (sitoid-related mortality *** was consistent across parasitoid *** results suggest that competition between *** and *** is asymmetric and favors *** may be difficult for *** to contribute significantly to *** biological control where *** is ***, results reported here suggest that competition between *** and *** is not likely to reduce parasitism by *** or reduce parasitoid-induced mortality of ***.

Experimental quantum simulation of Avian Compass in a nuclear magnetic resonance system

Avian magnetoreception is the capacity for avians to sense the direction of the Earth's magnetic field. Discovered more than forty years ago, it has attracted intensive studies over the years. One promising model for describing this capacity in avians is the widely used reference-and-probe model where radical pairs within the eyes of bird combines to form singlet and triplet quantum *** yield depends on the angle between the Earth's magnetic field and the molecules' axis, hence the relative value of yield of the singlet state or triplet state enables avians to sense the direction. Here we report the experimental demonstration of avian magnetoreception in a nuclear magnetic resonance quantum information processor. It is shown clearly from the experiment that the yield of the singlet state attains maximum when it is normal to the Earth's magnetic field, and the experimental results agree with theory very well.
