Recent developments on high-performance double-hooked-end steel fibers have enhanced the wide applications of steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC).This study presents the compressive properties and the cyclic flexural performance of the SFRC that were experimentally *** different double-hooked-end steel fibers at 0.25%,0.5%,0.75%,and 1%volume fractions were *** fiber types had similar length to diameter ratios,while the first two fiber types had similar anchorage mechanisms(4d)and tensile strength and the third type had different anchorage mechanism(5d)and a higher tensile *** increased volumetric ratio of the fibers increased the post-peak compressive strain(ductility),the tensile strength,and the cyclic flexural strength and cumulative energy dissipation characteristics of the *** the 4d fibers,the mixtures with the larger steel fibers showed higher flexural strength and more energy dissipation compared to the SFRCs with smaller size *** 1%steel fiber dosage,4d and 5d specimens showed similar cyclic flexural ***,a 3d finite element model that can predict the monotonic and cyclic flexural responses of the double-hooked-end SFRC was *** calibration process considered the results obtained from the inverse analysis to determine the tensile behavior of the SFRC.

Complement receptor 2 （CR2/Cd21） is predominantly expressed on the surface of mature B cells where it forms part of a coreceptor complex that functions, in part, to modulate B-cell receptor signal strength. CR2/Cd21 expression is tightly regulated throughout B-cell development such that CR2/Cd21 cannot be detected on pre-B or terminally differentiated plasma cells. CR2/Cd21 expression is upregulated at B-cell maturation and can be induced by IL-4 and Cd40 signaling pathways. We have previously characterized elements in the proximal promoter and first intron of CR2/Cd21 that are involved in regulating basal and tissue-specific expression. We now extend these analyses to the CR2/Cd21 core promoter. We show that in mature B cells, CR2/~d21 transcription proceeds from a focused TSS regulated by a non-consensus TATA box, an initiator element and a downstream promoter element. Furthermore, occupancy of the general transcriptional machinery in pre-B versus mature B-cell lines correlate with CR2/Cd21 expression level and indicate that promoter accessibility must switch from inactive to active during the transitional B-cell window.

Background:Forest management practices(*** of stand density,fertilisation)are just as important in carbon(C)forestry as in other types of forestry and will affect the level of C sequestration and *** C stored in wood is approximately proportional to the product of its volume and density,it is necessary to account for both volume growth and wood density when assessing the effects of fertilisation on C sequestration in pine ***:The effects of nitrogen(n)input from biosolids application on forest C sequestration were quantified from an intensively monitored biosolids field trial in a Pinus radiata plantation on a sandy soil in new *** field trial tested the application of three biosolids rates:Control(no application),Standard(300 kg n⋅ha^(-1) applied every three years),and High(600 kg n⋅ha^(-1) applied every three years),across three levels of stand density:300,450,and 600 stems⋅ha^(-1).Carbon sequestration was estimated using the C-Change model from annual plot measurements of stand density,stem height and diameter,and annual breast height wood densities obtained from increment ***:By age 24 years,n-fertilised trees had sequestered 40 t C⋅ha^(-1) more than unfertilised trees,an increase of 18%.Fertilisation increased stem volume by 23%but reduced stem wood density by 2.5%.Most of the increased C sequestration occurred between age 6 and age 17 years and the Standard rate gave the same increase in C sequestration as the High *** average,there was no significant difference in growth rate between fertilised and unfertilised trees after the 17th growth year,but the increased growth ceased earlier at higher stand densities,and later at lower stand ***:This study indicates that 2–3 applications of the Standard rate would have been sufficient to achieve the increased C sequestration,with an applied n to C conversion ratio of 43–65 kg C⋅kg^(-1) *** results highlight that n fertilisation will become

A series of novel catalysts was developed using cationic Gemini surfactants intercalated in natural montmorillonite (MMT) clay. These Gemini surfactant-MMT intercalates were used to study the kinetics of a nucleophilic displacement reactions converting n-butyl bromide to n-butyl chloride in a triphase catalytic (TC) system. Most reaction rates compared favorably to those of biphase catalytic reactions where Gemini surfactants were used in the absence of MMT. Catalytic activity varied with Gemini surfactant structure, specifically with carbon spacer group and side chain length. In addition to the ease of catalyst separation that a triphase system affords, Gemini-MMT catalysts are stable and can be recycled and re-used several times.

AIM: To determine if there is a reasonable prospect of success of a re-use liver ***: We systematically searched for reports of liver graft re-use using electronic searches of PubMed and Web of Knowledge. We performed hand searches of references lists of articles reporting re-use of ***: A systematic review of the literature reveals 28 liver transplantations using previously transplanted grafts. First and second recipients ranged in age from 4 to 72 years and 29 to 62 years respectively. Liver disease in the first recipient was varied including 5(18%) patients with fulminant liver failure who died subsequently of cerebral edema. The second transplanta-tion was performed after a median interval of 5 d(one day-13 years). Viral hepatitis was present in 3(11%) of the initial recipients and in 8(29%) of final recipients. Hepatocellular carcinoma was present in 6(21%) of the final recipients. Early survival after the final transplantation was 93%, whereas long-term survival was 78% with a mean follow-up of 23.3(3-120) ***: Outcomes of transplantation using previously transplanted grafts in this select population are similar to those seen with conventional grafts.
