Background:Lateral ankle sprain is the most common musculoskeletal *** clinical research in this field is growing,there is a broader concern that clinical trial outcomes are often false and fail to translate into patient ***:We audited 30 years of experimental research related to lateral ankle sprain management(n=74 randomized controlled trials)to determine if reports of treatment effectiveness could be validated beyond statistical ***:A total of 77%of trials reported positive treatment effects,but there was a high risk of false *** trials were unregistered and relied solely on statistical significance,or lack of statistical significance,rather than on interpreting key measures of minimum clinical importance(e.g.,minimal detectable change,minimal clinically important difference).Conclusion:Future clinical trials must adopt higher standards of reporting and data *** includes consideration of the ethical responsibility to preregister their research and interpretation of clinical outcomes beyond statistical significance.

The microorganism-rich nature of the ocean imposes great challenges to the structural integrity of met-als over their service lifespan,including titanium(Ti)alloys,which are usually prone to microbiologically influenced corrosion(MIC).So,multifunctional anti-MIC Ti alloys need to be developed and *** paper investigates the effect of copper(Cu)concentration on the MIC resistance of a series of additively manufactured,ultrafine-grained Ti-x Cu(x=3.5,6.5 and 8.5 in wt.%)*** dependence of the cor-rosion resistance and MIC resistance on the Cu concentration of Ti-Cu alloy is interpreted considering all conceivable *** mechanisms for excellent corrosion resistance of Ti-Cu alloy in seawater are attributed to the strong passive film and small surface potential difference between ***-tural characterization reveals that uniformly distributed,nanosized Ti_(2) Cu phase led to increased reactive oxygen species in the bacterial membrane,which is the root reason for the superb anti-bacterial property(99.2%)for *** to pure Ti and Ti-6Al-4V,Ti-8.5Cu alloy features both high strength(yield stress>1000 MPa)and the best MIC resistance(97.5%).The combination of such balanced properties enables this functional 3d printed Ti-Cu alloy to become an ideal material for load-bearing applications in the marine environment.

Background: Scoliosis is a common condition in adult patients, and often causes chronic back pain compared to non-scoliosis. It has also been identified that bone mineral density is very often compromised in patients with scoliosis, even occurring in adolescence. At this time, no study has looked at how bone mineral density and scoliosis incidence or severity may be connected with specific regard to treatment. This study presents data on the outcomes of a scoliosis-specific exercise therapy and its ability to correct scoliotic curvatures in adult patients alone and in combination with bone mineral density supplementation. Methods: The charts of 14 total patients were retrospectively selected based upon specific inclusion criteria. Outcome assessments included the radiographic Cobb angle of the primary curvature, as well as laboratory measures of urinary deoxypyridinoline cross links. These results were compared against 12 patients who did not take the bone density supplement during or after their exercise-based treatment. Results: Patients taking the bone density supplement achieved the same level of Cobb angle reduction as compared to the control group. However, they additionally achieved a significant reduction in urinary deoxypyridinoline cross links as compared to the control group at 6 months. Conclusion: Patients taking a multi-ingredient bone density supplement daily for 6 months after completing a scoliosis-specific exercise program reported statistically significant improvements in urinary deoxypyridinoline cross links as compared to controls. It is unknown if or how bone density loss may contribute to the onset or progression of scoliosis. Long-term follow-up of these patients will be ongoing to assess bone mineral density status and Cobb angle changes longitudinally.

AIM： To investigate the effect of chronic inflammatory bowel disease （CIBd） specific risk factors for cholecystolithiasis, as duration and involvement pattern of the disease and prior surgery in patients with Crohn＇s disease （Cd） and ulcerative colitis （UC）. METHOdS： A total of 222 patients with Cd （135 females, 87 males, average age, 35.8±11.8 years; range 17-81 years） and 88 patients with UC （39 females, 49 males; average age, 37.2±13.6 years; range 16-81 years） underwent clinical and ultrasound examinations. Besides age, sex and degree of obesity, patients＇ CIBd specific parameters, including duration and extent of disease and prior operations were documented and evaluated statistically using logistic regression. RESLTLTS： The overall prevalence of gallbladder stone disease in patients with Cd was 13% （n = 30）. Only age could be shown to be an independent risk factor （P = 0.014）. Compared to a collective representative for the general population in the same geographic region, the prevalence of cholecystolithiasis was higher in all corresponding age groups. Patients with UC showed an overall prevalence of gallbladder stone disease of only 4.6%. COnCLUSIOn：Only age but not disease-specific factors such as duration and extent of disease, and prior surgery are independent risk factors for the development of cholecystolithiasis in patients with CIBd.

Aim:To evaluate the quantitative detection of human telomerase RnA(hTR)and human telomerase reverse tran-scriptase(hTERT)mRnA as diagnostic parameters in the workup of testicular tissue specimens from patients presentingwith non-obstructive ***:hTR and hTERT mRnA expression were quantified in 38 cryopre-served testicular tissue specimens by fluorescence real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)in a LightCycler(r).This was paralleled by conventional histological workup in all tissue specimens and additionalsemithin sectioning preparation in cases with maturation arrest(n=12)and Sertoli-cell-only syndrome(n=12).Re-sults;The average normalized hTERT expression(n_(hTERT))was 131.9±48.0 copies(mean±Sd)in tissue speci-mens with full spermatogenesis,n_(hTERT)=51.2±17.2 copies in those with maturation arrest and n_(hTERT)=2.7±2.4copies in those with Sertoli-cell-only syndrome(SCOS).The discriminant analysis showed that detection of n_(hTERT)(n_(hTR))had a predictive value of 86.8%(55.3%)for correct classification in one of the three histological ***;Our results demonstrate that quantitative detection of hTERT mRnA expression in testicular tissue en-ables a molecular-diagnostic classification of *** detection of hTERT in testicular biopsies isthus well suited for supplementing the histopathological evaluation.
