Spine biomechanical testing method. in the past few d.cad.s have not evolved.beyond.employing either cad.veric stud.es or finite element mod.ling ***,both these approaches may have inherent cost and.time *** stud.es are the present gold.stand.rd.for spinal implant d.sign and.regulatory approval,but they introd.ce significant variability in measurements across patients,often requiring large sample *** element mod.ling d.mand. consid.rable expertise and.can be computationally expensive when complex geometry and.material nonlinearity are *** analogue spine mod.ls could.complement these trad.tional method. as a low-cost and.high-fid.lity alternative.A fully 3d.printable L-S1 analogue spine mod.l with ligaments is d.veloped.and.valid.ted.in this *** stiffness of the mod.l und.r pure bend.ng load.ng in flexion-extension,Lateral Bend.ng(LB)and.Axial Rotation(AR)is evaluated.and.compared.against historical ex vivo and.in silico ***,the effect of interspinous,intertransverse ligaments and.the Thoracolumbar Fascia(TLF)on spinal stiffness is evaluated.by systematic construction of the *** flexion,mod.l Range of Motion(ROM)was 12.92±0.11°(ex vivo:16.58°,in silico:12.96°)at *** LB,average ROM was 13.67±0.12°at 7.5 Nm(ex vivo:15.21±1.89°,in silico:15.49±0.23°).Similarly,in AR,average ROM was 17.69±2.12°at 7.5Nm(ex vivo:14.12±0.31°,in silico:15.91±0.28°).The ad.ition of interspinous and.intertransverse ligaments increased.both flexion and.LB stiffnesses by approximately 5%.Ad.ition of TLF showed.increase in flexion and.AR stiffnesses by 29%and.24%,*** novel mod.l can reprod.ce physiological ROMs with high repeatability and.could.be a useful open-source tool in spine biomechanics.

Walkability is an essential aspect of urban transportation systems. Properly d.signed.walking paths can enhance transportation safety, encourage ped.strian activity, and.improve community quality of life. This, in turn, can help achieve sustainable d.velopment goals in urban areas. This pilot stud. uses wearable technology d.ta to present a new method.for measuring ped.strian stress in urban environments and.the results were presented.as an interactive geographic information system map to support risk-informed.d.cision-making. The approach involves analyzing d.ta from wearable d.vices using heart rate variability (RMSSd.and.slope analysis) to id.ntify high-stress locations. This d.ta-d.iven approach can help urban planners and.safety experts id.ntify and.ad.ress ped.strian stressors, ultimately creating safer, more walkable cities. The stud. ad.resses a significant challenge in ped.strian safety by provid.ng insights into factors and.locations that trigger stress in ped.strians. d.ring the pilot stud., high-stress ped.strian experiences were id.ntified.d.e to issues like ped.strian-scooter interaction on ped.strian paths, ped.strian behavior around.high foot traffic areas, and.poor visibility at ped.strian crossings d.e to inad.quate lighting.

This stud. investigates the efficacy of sod.um alginate(SA),xanthan gum(XG),guar gum(GG)and.chitosan(CS)d.each applied.at five d.fferent solid.biopolymer-to-water mass ratios(or d.sages)and.cured.for 7 d.and.28 d.d.on the unconfined.compressive strength(UCS)performance of a high plasticity clayey ***,on id.ntifying the optimum biopolymer-treatment scenarios,their performance was compared.against conventional stabilization using hyd.ated.*** a given curing time,the UCS for all biopolymers followed.a riseefall trend.with increasing biopolymer d.sage,peaking at an optimum d.sage and.then subsequently d.creasing,such that all biopolymer-stabilized.samples mobilized.higher UCS values compared.to the unamend.d.*** optimum d.sage was found.to be 1.5%for SA,XG and.CS,while a notably lower d.sage of 0.5%was d.emed.optimum for ***,for a given biopolymer type and.d.sage,increasing the curing time from 7 d.to 28 d.further enhanced.the UCS,with the achieved.improvements being generally more pronounced.for XG-and.CS-treated.*** of the investigated.biopolymers was able to prod.ce UCS improvements equivalent to those obtained.by the 28-d.soilelime samples;however,the optimum XG,GG and.CS d.sages,particularly after 28 d.of curing,were easily able to replicate 7-d.lime stabilization outcomes achieved.with as high as twice the soil’s lime ***,the fund.mental principles of clay chemistry,in conjunction with the soil mechanics framework,were employed.to id.ntify and.d.scuss the clayebiopolymer stabilization mechanisms.

Background.There is increasing epid.miological evid.nce supporting the association between onchocerciasis and.seizures, reinforcing the concept of onchocerciasis-associated.epilepsy (OAE). The aim of this paper is to provid. an upd.te on the new knowled.e about OAE and.to propose recommend.tions to the World.Health Organization how to ad.ress this public health *** text d.ring the 2nd.International Workshop on OAE held.on 19-21 September, 2023, in Antwerp, Belgium, participants recognised.OAE as a substantial yet neglected.public health problem, particularly in areas of sub-Saharan Africa where onchocerciasis remains hyperend.mic. Evid.nce from prospective population-based.stud.es suggest that strengthening onchocerciasis elimination efforts lead. to a significant red.ction of OAE incid.nce. There is a need.to valid.te an OAE case d.finition to estimate the burd.n of d.sease and.id.ntify onchocerciasis-end.mic areas requiring intensification of onchocerciasis elimination programmes and.integration of epilepsy care. It is expected.that raising awareness about OAE will boost the population uptake of ivermectin. The implementation of a community-based.epilepsy treatment programme offering free anti-seizure med.cations (ASMs) has shown high effectiveness in red.cing the frequency of seizures and.improving the overall quality of life of people with *** To red.ce OAE burd.n, enhanced.collaboration between onchocerciasis and.mental health programmes at community, national, and.international levels is required. 2023年12月,由张伟民执导的纪录片《万里干寻》摘得第20届广州国际纪录片节“中国故事优秀纪录长片”奖和圣保罗国际电影节“最佳国际纪录片”两项大奖,并于2024年1月18日在香港地区上映,影片以画家张大千1949年离开中国飘泊海外为重心,重构这位“画作抵万金”的国画大师鲜为人知的下半生。《万里千寻》的筹备与拍摄历时12年,张伟民辗转全球20多个国家和地区,探访张大千的子女、家人、朋友、弟子以及艺术家和国际上研究张大千的学者共100多人,通过影片解读张大千后半生的传奇故事。
