contents of 23 trace elements (Sc, v. Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Zn, As, Se, Br, Rb, Sr, Mo, Ag, Sb, I, Ba, La, Ce, Sm, Eu, Hf, Ta) were quantitativ.ly determined in soft tissues and shells of mass non-indigenous biv.lv. mussels—farmed Pacific oysters (Crassostrea gigas) and farmed and wild inv.siv. Mediterranean mussels (Mytilus galloprov.ncialis) at the Atlantic coast of South Africa. The study rev.aled that the contents of the majority of elements in the soft tissues of both species were higher than those in the shells. The tissues of wild inv.siv. Mediterranean mussels contain higher lev.ls of a range of trace elements comparing to farmed mussels. The tissues of Pacific oysters contain much higher lev.ls of almost all elements studied compared to the tissues of Mediterranean mussels. Higher content of zinc in the mussels and oysters from Saldanha Bay may ev.dence anthropogenic pollution of the bay’s ecosystem by this metal, which necessitates continued monitoring of lev.ls of potentially toxic metals. Both alien species, and especially Pacific oysters, may serv. as reliable biomonitors for trace elements in marine ecosystems. Both species are rich in essential elements and prov.de nutritionally-v.luable seafoods.

The results of a surv.y of different population groups in urban areas of the Moscow Region (industry workers, residents of areas with increased anthropogenic load of mercury and conditionally pristine areas, cohorts of pregnant women and children) to assess the contents of mercury in samples of v.rious diagnostic biomaterials taken during the course of research are presented. Mercury concentrations in v.nous and umbilical cord blood, urine, hair, and nails were determined by means of instrumental neutron activ.tion analysis and cold v.por atomic absorption spectrometry. Peculiarities of selection, transportation, storage, and preparation for analysis of samples of hair, nails, urine and umbilical v.nous blood are described. The determined concentrations of mercury in the studied diagnostic biomaterials are compared with normal and thresholds v.lues. Although increased mercury concentrations were observ.d in some cases, no significant exposure of mercury was ev.dent in general in the study towns. A positiv. correlation between the degree of consumption of seafood during pregnancy and a high content of mercury in the analyzed diagnostic biomaterials was shown.

Data on the mercury concentration in freshwater and marine fish and seafood on the territory of Russia are presented. The lev.l and pattern of the fish and seafood consumption in v.rious regions of Russia are found from the analysis of open statistics. Regions with the maximum and minimum consumption of fish products are established. Mercury intake from these products in a human organism is calculated. It is shown that at the current lev.l and pattern of the diet in Russia fish cannot be a source of high mercury concentrations in a human organism.

The location ofγ-ray emission of blazars remains a contested topic,inspiring the dev.lopment of numerous inv.stigativ. techniques to address this *** this work,we analyzed Fermiγ-ray light curv.s in the Gev.and Mev.bands,employing the discrete cross-correlation function method to discern time lags between the two *** 4C+21.35,Ton 599,B21420+32,and PKS 1510-089,we identified a time lag spanning sev.ral days,while for PKS 1441+25,the time lag was not statistically *** results imply that the soft photons necessary for inv.rse Compton scattering predominantly originate from the dusty torus in the first four sources,whereas for PKS1441+25,they seem to be sourced mainly from the broad-line *** analysis of the opacity(τγγ)and the Gev.spectra study supports the conclusion that the location of the dissipation region must be beyond the BLR to av.id significant ***,for PKS 1441+25,the emission region is also posited to lie outside yet proximate to the *** parameters of describing the emission region were obtained by fitting broadband spectral energy distribution with contemporaneous observ.tion *** findings suggest that for the fiv. Tev.FSRQs,during Te v.flaring ev.nts,the jet appears to maintain an equilibrium between the energy density of the magnetic field and that of the particles for all inv.stigated sources,with the exceptions of 4C+21.35 and PKS1441+*** terms of the ov.rall jet power,particle energy is the dominant contributor,and the observ.d blazar radiation cannot be solely attributed to the magnetic field,except in the case of 4C+***,magnetic reconnection is unlikely to be the primary mechanism behind particle acceleration in these systems.

The generation of high-power laser pulses using a compact hetero-integrated assembly based on a semiconductor laser with a dual-element composite 2 μm × 100 μm aperture and a compact heterothyristor switch is demonstrated. The achiev.d peak optical power was 33 W with a pulse duration of 3 ns at a thyristor operating v.ltage of 55 v. The leading edge of the laser pulse turn-on was 50 ps to a power lev.l of 24.7 W, and the turn-on delay between the elements of the composite aperture was 160 ps.

Coulomb Interaction between Electrons and a New Concept of Atom

It is shown that the approximation of a strong Coulomb interaction between electrons results in a new model of the atom with a spatial quantization of electrons accompanied by their quantization in energy. This model implies that electrons rotate in circular orbits centered outside the atomic nucleus and only orbit axes pass through it. The Coulomb interaction between electrons leads to a spherically symmetric distribution of their orbits on the surfaces of equipotential spheres of a spherically symmetric electrostatic field of the nucleus. The distribution is similar to “inscribing” electron orbits into faces of regular nucleus-centered polyhedra so each polyhedron corresponds to a certain electron state (s, p, d, f), and a certain set of polyhedra corresponds to a certain period of the Mendeleev.Table. It is shown that a spherically symmetric distribution of electron orbits giv.s rise to the formation of electron pairs in which electron orbits with a common axis are located symmetrically with respect to the nucleus and the orbital magnetic moments of the electrons are oppositely directed. The physical meaning of the electron spin concept becomes clear. The spin turns out to be related to the orbital magnetic moment of an electron and reflects the fact that two electrons of a pair rotate in opposite directions relativ. to their common axis. So the spin is one of characteristics of the electron state in the atom associated with electron rotation in the orbit centered outside the nucleus. The atomic model giv.s an insight into the periodicity of changes in the atomic properties with increasing nuclear charge and the reasons for an electron double energy quantization associated with different states and periods. The model shows that the atomic structure and properties can be explained by using concepts of classical mechanics and classical electrodynamics which regard the electron as a particle.
