The last decades have represented an important season in the re-conceptualization of brain plasticity,especially in extending the concept at events occurring beyond the developmental stage and in demonstrating the profound impact of these changes on so-called spontaneous recovery after central nervous system(CNS)*** study of the cellular,molecular,functional and structural mechanisms involved in brain plasticity has clearly emphasized the multitude of players engaged in this phenomenon,leading to the conceptualization that non-neuronal cells and non-neuronal mechanisms intervene in these changes and orchestrate some of the responses observed(Werner and Stevens,2015).Among the different non-neuronal cells and non-neuronal substrates of injury-induced plasticity is becoming increasingly recognized that microglia drive a series of intrinsic CNS responses after damage(Sandvig et al.,2018;Bisicchia et al.,2019).

During the Environmental Impact Assessment procedure (EIA) for hydropower projects, apart from the compliance with environmental standards and regulations, important environmental and ecosystem changes are foreseen from planning and construction stages. In Mexico, the EIA and environmental standards are being systematically applied and fulfilled at planning and construction stages for hydropower projects. These are mainly related to control air emissions, solid and hazardous wastes, water discharges and deal with protected species. In addition, due to land use changes, forestry compensation procedures have already been established. To comply with project approval conditions, an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) is carried out during construction;it includes mitigation measures, standards, regulations and approval conditions resulting of project review and in some cases requests from the public audience. Monitoring is carried out in the area of influence that is in the works and where it is expected that natural processes are modified. However, indicators to track these changes are minimal. This paper analyzes the regulatory and organizational frameworks to address environmental management during the planning and construction of hydropower facilities in Mexico and gives recommendations to expand the scope of the supervision and management of ecosystem changes.

As stated in the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, children have the right to go to school for free, to play, and to have the same opportunity to develop and to learn to be responsible and useful[1]. Young children are curious by nature and they have passion for learning [2]. An environment that encourages scientific thinking is what gives young children the time, space and materials to exercise their curiosity [3]. The aim of this paper is to present a methodology for the development of educational environments based on digital technology, internet and free programs available on the web, for the use and application of structural bioinformatics protein and DNA, for early stimulation in basic education at rural and indigenous communities in state of Oaxaca, conducted in On Line Learning & Training “OLL & T”. The course is divided into 4 sections: 1)Introduction to the topic of protein and DNA structure;2)Search in protein data bank;3)Download RasTop program and use it as bioinformatics tool;4)Emulation of building a viral molecule. Workshops were given to children in elementary, middle and high school at the Universidad del Papaloapan during the National Week of Science and Technology, every year in Oaxaca since 2007 to 2012 and in Monterrey 2010 at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo León. Conclusions: positive impact was achieved in basic education in the area of natural sciences by analyzing the molecular basis of protein and deoxyribonucleic acid, theoretically and practically, as a support for teachers.

Background: Increased peak oxygen consumption(VO2 peak) can reduce cardiovascular risks associated with obesity. Our aim was to analyze the effect of a weight loss program on cardiovascular fitness in overweight(W) and obese(O) ***: One hundred and sixty-seven subjects(77 males and 90 females), aged 18–50 years, performed a modified Bruce protocol before(pre)and after(post) a weight loss program of 24 weeks. This program combined physical training(strength, S; endurance, E; combined strength + endurance, SE; or physical activity recommendation, PA) 3 times per week, with a 25%–30% caloric restriction ***: VO2 peak improved in overweight and obese males(pre and post values in L/min, respectively; W = 3.2 ± 0.6 vs. 3.7 ± 0.5, p < 0.001;O = 3.6 ± 0.6 vs. 3.8 ± 0.6, p = 0.013) as well as in overweight females(2.0 ± 0.3 vs. 2.3 ± 0.4, p < 0.001). VO2 peak in the first ventilatory threshold(VT1) increased for all 4 interventions in males(p < 0.05), except for S in the obese group(1.6 ± 0.2 vs. 1.7 ± 0.3, p = 0.141). In females, it increased in E(0.9 ± 0.2 vs. 1.4 ± 0.3, p < 0.001), SE(0.9 ± 0.2 vs. 1.2 ± 0.4, p = 0.003), and PA(0.9 ± 0.1 vs. 1.2 ± 0.2, p = 0.006) in overweight groups. Time-to-exhaustion improved in all subjects except for females in PA group(15.7 ± 0.3 min vs. 15.9 ± 0.3 min, p = 0.495).Conclusion: Our results suggest that all methods, including the recommendation of physical activity, can improve cardiovascular fitness in overweight subjects and obese males.

Avocado oil is a relatively new oil in the market and is highly appreciated by the consumers because of its fine aroma, pleasant taste and health benefits. A study on the characterization of commercial avocado oils produced in Chile was conducted in order to discuss their quality parameters. The study was applied to two marketed avocado oils. The main analytical parameters evaluated to the oils were： fatty acid composition, total chlorophylls, total carotenoids, tocopherols, acid value, peroxide value, total phenolic compounds, polar compounds, oil stability, UV absorption and 3.5-stigmastadiene content. The fatty acid compositions of the studied oils were according with oil composition of pulp pure of avocado fruit. The analysis of tocopherols by high performance liquid chromatography （HPLC） revealed significant differences between the avocado oils studied. Total phenolic compounds, oil stability, UV Absorption characteristics, peroxide value, acid value, tocopherols content, total chlorophylls, total carotenoids and polar compounds were also significantly different between the commercial studied oils. All the above results show a different quality between both commercial avocado oils, showing that the sample C has worse values for the parameters of quality as those required by legislation in many countries. Also, 3.5-stigmastadiene content shows high concentration for one of the commercial avocado oil evaluated which demonstrates the presence of refined oil or that the oil has been submitted to high temperatures. On the other hand it is remarkable that despite the fact that there are many differences in quality parameters, both oils are labeled and marketed as extra virgin quality oils, demonstrating the need to regulate the classification of appreciated oils by the consumers.

Alcoholic liver disease(ALD) is a major cause of acute and chronic liver injury. Extensive evidence has been accumulated on the pathological process of ALD during the past decades. However, effective treatment options for ALD are very limited due to the lack of suitable in vivo models that recapitulate the full spectrum of ALD. Experimental animal models of ALD, particularly rodents, have been used extensively to mimic human ALD. An ideal animal model should recapitulate all aspects of the ALD process, including significant steatosis, hepatic neutrophil infiltration, and liver injury. A better strategy against ALD depends on clear diagnostic biomarkers, accurate predictor(s) of its progression and new therapeutic approaches to modulate stop or even reverse the disease. Numerous models employing rodent animals have been established in the last decades to investigate the effects of acute and chronic alcohol exposure on the initiation and progression of ALD. Although significant progress has been made in gaining better knowledge on the mechanisms and pathology of ALD, many features of ALD are unknown, and require further investigation, ideally with improved animal models that more effectively mimic human ALD. Although differences in the degree and stages of alcoholic liver injury inevitably exist between animal models and human ALD, the acquisition and translational relevance will be greatly enhanced with the development of new and improved animal models of ALD.

This work considers a special case of Lotka-Volterra equations, which means that in the system of two ordinary differential equations, we take the four parameters equal to one. The reason is that we want just to illustrate the procedure to reduce that system to only one ordinary differential equation, such that we know its analytical solution. This idea will be applied to study the relations between a system of three ordinary differential equations, and a couple of partial differential equations. Lotka-Volterra equations are solved numerically by a fourth-order predictor-corrector method, which is initialized by an improved Euler method with a rather small time step because it is only a second-order algorithm. Then, it is proposed a model with three species, defined by ordinary differential equations.

Cervical cancer is a priority health problem in Mexico. The objective of this work was to know the degree of satisfaction of the service provider with the organization of the program of Timely Detection of Cervical Cancer, specifically in taking of the cervical cytology. The study design was observational, transversal and prospective conducted from January to May 2015 in Jurisdiction 1 of the Health Services of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, in 20 health centers. Participants were 87 service providers whose function is to take cervical cytology (Pap smears). A 32-question questionnaire was applied, with Likert scale with 5 levels of response: 1 (dissatisfied), 2 (little satisfied), 3 (indifferent), 4 (satisfied) and 5 (very satisfied). The score range was 32 points (minimum job satisfaction) up to 160 points (Maximum job satisfaction). We analyzed 2 dimensions: 1) intrinsic factors that have to do with motivation and professional recognition, and 2) extrinsic factors related to infrastructure, materials, remuneration and labor policies. Each factor consisted of four categories. Descriptive statistics and linear correlation of Pearson were applied for the analysis of data. Participants signed an informed consent letter. Of 4 categories, in the intrinsic dimension, the one with the highest percentage of satisfaction was “delegation of activities” with 28.8%. In the extrinsic dimension, the category with the highest percentage of satisfaction was “infrastructure and materials” with 49.4%;while satisfaction increase in intrinsic dimensions also does in extrinsic dimensions, such correlations are significant (p delegation of activities and remuneration (r = 0.074 and p = 0.497). The higher hierarchical level, the men, the bachelor academic level and older people showed the highest level of satisfaction.
