Estimation of Connected Vehicle Penetration on US Roads in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania

Connected vehicle data is an important assessment tool for agencies to evaluate the performance of freeways and arterials, provided there is sufficient penetration to provide statistically robust performance measures. A common concern by agencies interested in using crowd sourced probe data is the penetration rate across different types of roads, different hours of the day, and different regions. This paper describes and demonstrates a methodology that uses data from state highway performance monitoring systems in Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The study analyzes 54 locations over the 3 states for select Wednesdays and Saturdays in 2020 and 2021. Overall, across all locations and dates, the median penetration was approximately 4.5%. The median penetration for August 2020 for Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania was 4.6%, 4.3%, and 4.0%, respectively. The median penetration for those same states in August 2020 on interstates and non-interstates was 3.9% and 4.6%, respectively. Additionally, the study conducted a longitudinal evaluation of Indiana penetration for selected months between January 2020 and June 2021. Indiana penetration increased modestly between December 2020 and June 2021, perhaps due to the post-COVID rebound of passenger vehicle traffic. This paper concludes by recommending that the techniques described in this paper be scaled to other states so that traffic engineers can make informed decisions on the use and limitations of connected vehicle data for various use cases.

Background： Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder （ADHD） is a common childhood disorder that affects approximately 11% of children in the United States. Research supports that a single session of exercise benefits cognitive performance by children, and a limited number of studies have demonstrated that these effects can also be realized by children with ADHD. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of acute exercise on cognitive performance by children with and without ADHD. methods： Children with and without ADHD were asked to perform cognitive tasks on 2 days following treatment conditions that were assigned in a random, counterbalanced order. The treatment conditions consisted of a 30-min control condition on 1 day and a moderate intensity exercise condition on the other day. Results： Exercise significantly benefited performance on all three conditions of the Stroop Task, but did not significantly affect performance on the Tower of London or the Trail making Test. Conclusion： children with and without ADHD realize benefits in speed of processing and inhibitory control in response to a session of acute exercise, but do not experience benefits in planning or set shifting.

Vaccinium darrowii Camp(2 n=2×=24)is a native North American blueberry species and an important source oftraits such as low chill requirement in commercial southern highbush blueberry breeding(Vaccinium coymbosum,2n=4 ×=48).We present a chromosomal-scale genome of *** generated by the combination of PacBio sequencing and high throughput chromatin conformation capture(Hi-C)scaffolding technologies,yielding a total length of 1.06 Gigabases(Gb).Over 97.8%of the genome sequences are scaffolded into 24 chromosomes representing the two *** primary haplotype assembly of V,darrowii contains 34,809 protein-coding *** to a *** haplotype assembly reveals high collinearity between the two genomes with small intrachromosomal rearrangements in eight chromosome *** small RNA sequencing,the annotation was further expanded to include more than 200,000 small RNA loci and 638 microRNAs expressed in berry *** analysis across fruit development stages indicates that genes involved in photosynthesis are downregulated,while genes involved in flavonoid and anthocyanin biosynthesis are signi ficantly increased at the late stage of berry ripening.A high-quality reference genome and accompanying annotation of *** is a signi ficant new resource for assessing the evergreen blueberry contribution to the breeding of southern highbush blueberries.

Incidence, Types and Levels of Aflatoxin in Different Peanuts Varieties Produced in Busia and Kisii Central Districts, Kenya

Busia and Kisii Central districts are areas in western Kenya that have repeatedly reported high levels of stunting growth in children and an increase in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC);an aspect often positively associated with chronic exposure to aflatoxins especially through consumption of foods such as peanuts. The objectives of the study were to determine the incidence, types and levels of aflatoxin in different varieties of peanuts produced in Busia and Kisii Central districts. One hundred and two (102) peanuts samples were collected from farmers’ in each district. Aflatoxin types and levels of aflatoxins were analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technique. All the peanuts samples from Kisii Central and 97.06% samples from Busia were contaminated with aflatoxins. However, aflatoxin was not detected in 2.94% of samples from Busia district. The levels of total aflatoxin ranges were 0.1 to 268 μg/kg and 1.63 to 591.1 μg/kg in peanuts from Busia and Kisii Central respectively. majority of peanuts samples had levels within Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and European Union (EU) regulatory limits for total aflatoxins. Improved variety (Valencia red) had significantly lower aflatoxin contamination compared to local varieties (Uganda local red, Homabay local and Local red). Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 were found in peanuts;B1 was the most predominant in both districts (t = 12.4, df = 3, P = 0.034). The levels of aflatoxins especially in peanuts from Kisii Central district were high (591.1 μg/kg) where 44.6% of samples analyzed were unfit for even animal feed (USFDA regulatory limit). An assessment on the levels of aflatoxins should be done by the relevant stakeholders in other key foods in the areas for example maize. The most lethal aflatoxin type B1 was found to be the most predominant peanuts from both districts of study. This calls for frequent aflatoxin screening of peanuts from the districts particularly aflatoxin type B.

Aim: The study aim was to explore childbirth complications among adolescent mothers at mbala General Hospital, Zambia. method: A descriptive cross-sectional study design of 138 adolescent mothers aged between 10-19 years was carried out over a period of five months at a referral hospital (mbala General Hospital) in mbala District, in the Northern Province of Zambia, Central Africa. Results: maternal age prevalence was 31.1% for all admissions. The childbirth complications identified on admission were prolonged labour (42%);during Labour-Cephalopelvic Disproportion (CPD) (59.7%), prolonged labour (20%), in the post-partum period, Post-Partum Hemorrhage (PPH) due atonic uterus at 20%. The most prevalent co-morbidity was Anemia (55.6%). A statistically significant association was observed between childbirth complications and parity with a P-value of 0.001. Conclusion: Our study demonstrates an association between childbirth complications and parity while the childbirth complications of prolonged labour, Contracted Pelvic Disproportion, premature rupture of membrane and PPH were observed.

The gallbladder is an important component of the hepatobiliary system whose primary function is to aid in digestion of foodstuffs, excretion of drugs and facilitate removal of waste products from the *** gall bladder is principally a storage organ for bile, chemically modified salts and acids of cholesterol which are synthesized in the liver and which function as surfactants to solubilize fatty substances of limited aqueous solubility. Any disruption in the amount or activity of bile surfactant can lead to an accumulation of insoluble molecular clumps(e.g., gallstones) that deposit in and obstruct fluid movement within the gallbladder, and which can lead to pathological congestion and tissue *** natural host defense response to any event that causes tissue damage is to stimulate inflammation,which non-specifically but aggressively reacts to the stimuli so to remove the cause and repair damaged tissues. The C-reactive protein(CRP) is a primarily hepatically produced serum protein whose blood levels increase within 6–10 h of any tissue-damaging event. The extent with which it increases correlates with the level of tissue damage and associated inflammation. CRP levels are reported to be of value in diagnosing acute cholecystitis severity, in predicting the outcome and prognosis of cancerassociated gallbladder resection, and in helping identify cystic structures during emergency laparoscopic cholecystectomies. As an understanding of distinctive CRP structural isoforms is evolving, its role not only as a biomarker but as regulator of both physiologic and pathophysiologic processes of inflammation may be relevant in the understanding of and treatment approaches for gallbladderassociated disease.

Biodegradable stents have tremendous theoretical potential as an alternative to bare metal stents and drug-eluting stents for the treatment of obstructive coronary artery *** bioresorbable or biodegradable scaffold material needs to possess optimal mechanical properties and uniform degradation behavior that avoids local and systemic ***,molybdenum(mo)has been investigated as a potential novel biodegradable material for this *** its proven moderate degradation rate and excellent mechanical properties,mo may represent an ideal source material for clinical cardiac and vascular *** present study was performed to evaluate the mechanical performance of metallic mo in vitro and the biodegradation properties in *** results demonstrated favorable mechanical behavior and a uniform degradation profile as desired for a new generation ultra-thin degradable endovascular stent ***,mo implants in mouse arteries avoided the typical cellular response that contributes to *** was minimal neointimal hyperplasia over 6 months,an absence of excessive smooth muscle cell(SmC)proliferation or inflammation near the implant,and avoidance of significant harm to regenerating endothelial cells(EC).Qualitative inspection of kidney sections showed a potentially pathological remodeling of kidney Bowman’s capsule and glomeruli,indicative of impaired filtering function and development of kidney disease,although quantifications of these morphological changes were not statistically ***,the results suggest that the products of mo corrosion may exert beneficial or inert effects on the activities of inflammatory and arterial cells,while exerting potentially toxic effects in the kidneys that warrant further investigation.

Variograms are important tools in the spatial distribution of facies and petrophysical properties. Due to the scarcity of subsurface well data, both spatially and quantity wise, variograms representing the data tend to have a lot of uncertainties. In order to reduce uncertainty in variograms, well data can be supplemented with the geological knowledge of the reservoir. This has been demonstrated by various authors in previous works. In their paper “methodology to Incorporate Geological Knowledge in Variogram modeling,” A. Bahar and m. Kelkar introduced a methodology to incorporate geological knowledge by studying the energy level of the depositional environment and grain texture. They used these two attributes to determine the relative distance of continuity of the lithofacies and incorporated it in the variogram modeling. In this paper, we introduce another attribute that determines the continuity of lithofacies;the accommodation or deposition space. For illustration purpose, two sets of facies models were constructed: The first using subsurface well data only and the second using well data and geological information of the reservoir. The two sets of models showed significant variation in the property distribution. The first set gave a more random appearance of the facies distribution while the second set gave a more realistic depiction of the depositional environment of the reservoir. We concluded that other than the grain size and the energy level of the depositional environment, another important determinant for continuity in variograms is the knowledge of the depositional space. Incorporating the knowledge of the depositional environment enabled a more accurate estimation of the variogram parameters. This resulted in an improvement in the accuracy of the model.
