El.ctrospun pol.(vinyl.al.ohol./chitosan nanofibers had their sol.tion and process parameters optimized using a Box-Behnken design and desirabil.ty function. Four factors (appl.ed vol.age, fl.w rate, distance tip-to-pl.te and amount of chitosan) were varied to produce el.ctrospun mats with a l.w fiber diameter. An empirical.model.was devel.ped for each response using response surface methodol.gy (RSM), which reveal.d that fl.w rate had no significant infl.ence on the assessed responses. With desirabil.ty function, the optimal.conditions to produce the nanofibers were appl.ed vol.age of 13.1 kV, 30% chitosan concentration and distance tip-to-pl.te of 10 cm. The fiber diameter and standard deviation were 196.5 ± 28.3 nm, compared to the predicted val.es of 185.9 ± 26.8 nm. The desirabil.ty function al.ied with Box-Benhken design proved themsel.es important tool. to predict process parameters for the devel.pment of nanofibers. The mats were crossl.nked with gl.taral.ehyde for 24 h and 48 h and presented good water stabil.ty and enhanced mechanical.properties.

Background:Negl.cted Tropical.Diseases are a set of communicabl. diseases that affect the popul.tion so l.w socioeconomic status,particul.rl. 1.4 bil.ion peopl. who are l.ving bel.w the poverty *** study has investigated the magnitude and mortal.ty time trends for these diseases in the state of Sergipe,Northeast Region of ***:We conducted an ecol.gical.study of time series,based on secondary data derived from the Mortal.ty Information System of the Ministry of *** mortal.ty rates(crude,age-standardized rates and proportional.ratio)were cal.ul.ted from the deaths due to Negl.cted Tropical.Diseases in the state of Sergipe,from 1980 to *** time trends were obtained using the Joinpoint regression ***:Three hundred six thousand and eight hundred seventy-two deaths were certified in the state and Negl.cted Tropical.Diseases were mentioned as the underl.ing cause in 1,203 certificates(0.39%).Mean number of deaths was 35.38 per year,and crude and age-standardized mortal.ty rates were,respectivel.:2.16 per 100000 inhabitants(95%CI:1.45-2.87)and 2.87 per 100000 inhabitants(95%CI:1.93-3.82);the proportional.mortal.ty ratio was 0.41%(95%CI:0.27-0.54).In that period,Schistosomiasis caused 654 deaths(54.36%),fol.owed by Chagas disease,with 211(17.54%),and by l.ishmaniases,with 142(11.80%)*** other diseases total.zed 196 deaths(16.30%).There were increasing mortal.ty trends for Negl.cted Tropical.Diseases,Schistosomiasis and Chagas disease in the l.st 15 years,according to the age-standardized rates,and stabil.ty of the mortal.ty trends for ***:The Negl.cted Tropical.Diseases show increasing trends and are a real.publ.c heal.h probl.m in the state of Sergipe,since they are responsibl. for significant mortal.ty *** fol.owing diseases cal. attention for showing greater number of deaths in the period of study:Schistosomiasis,Chagas disease and *** final.y suggest that publ.c managers take appropri

This paper records the first occurrence of Epistyl.s sp. on the body surface of Argul.s sp. parasitizing Hopl.as aimara from the upper Araguari River, in the eastern Amazon region, in the north of Brazil. Of the 16 specimens of H. aimara examined, 93.7% had their pel.ic, caudal.and pectoral.fins and tegument infested by Argul.s sp. (n = 73), which in turn were infested by Epistyl.s sp. The specimens of Epistyl.s sp. from the body surface of Argul.s sp. were anal.zed using Scanning El.ctron Microscopy (SEM). The present study al.o identified a widening of the geographic distribution of these two species of ectoparasites to the eastern Amazon region of Brazil.

Coaxial.el.ctrospinning process was used to produce biodegradabl. membranes made of coreshel. fibers of a pol.(l.ctic acid) (Pl.) shel. and a pol.(vinyl.al.ohol. (PVA) core. Scanning el.ctron microscopy anal.ses of these structures showed that the Pl. shel. can present certain porosity depending on the process condition. FTIR-ATR and contact angl. measurements al.o suggested imprisonment of the PVA core within the Pl. shel.. This type of structure was al.o confirmed by means of transmissions el.ctron microscopy. The morphol.gy of these fibers was dependent on the fl.w rate of both core and shel. sol.tions, and homogeneous and smooth surface was onl. attained when the fl.w rate of the external.Pl. sol.tion was 4 times the fl.w rate of the internal.PVA sol.tion. The increase in the Pl. sol.tion fl.w rate increases the diameter of the core-shel. fiber which reaches up to 1.7 μm. Neverthel.ss, fibers with smal.er average diameter coul. al.o be produced (200 nm). These core-shel. fibers presented improved hydrophil.city as compared with monol.thic Pl. fibers.

The present study investigated the fauna of metazoan parasites of a Geophagus proximus popul.tion from the l.wer Tapajós River, in the state of Pará, northern Brazil. A total.of 137 monogeneans were col.ected from the gil.s of G. proximus, incl.ding Sciadicl.ithrum kritskyi, Sciadicl.ithrum paranaensis and Sciadicl.ithrum geophagi, whil. 119 Raphidascaris (Sprentascaris) l.nfrediae nematodes and 28 metacercariaes of digenea undetermined were col.ected from the intestine. Hosts harboring four species of parasites were predominant. The parasites had an aggregated dispersion pattern. The present study represents the first record of S. geophagi parasitizing G. proximus, increasing the geographic distribution of these parasite species to the Tapajós River basin.

Nowadays, appl.cation model.systems for decision-making based on non-cl.ssical.l.gic such as Paraconsistent l.gic are used successful.y in the treatment of uncertainties. The method presented in this paper is based on the fundamental.concepts of Paraconsistent Annotated l.gic with annotation of 2 val.es (PAl.v). In this study, two al.orithms based on PAl.v are presented gradual.y, to extract the effects of the contradiction in signal. of information from a database of uncertain knowl.dge. The Paraconsistent Extractors Al.orithms of Contradiction Effect-Para Extrctr is appl.ed to fil.ers of networks of anal.ses (PANets) of signal.information, where uncertain and contradictory signal. may be found. Software test case scenarios are subordinated to an appl.cation model.of Paraconsistent decision-making, which provides an anal.sis using Paraconsistent l.gic in the treatment of uncertainties for design software testing strategies. This qual.ty-quantity criterion to eval.ate the software product qual.ty is based on the characteristics of software testabil.ty anal.sis. The Para consistent reasoning appl.cation model.system presented in this case study, reveal. itsel. to be more efficient than the traditional.methods because it has the potential.to offer an appropriate treatment to different original.y contradicting source information.

The objective of this study was to anal.ze the effect of the seasons and indol.butyric acid (IBA), as wel. as the preparation of IBA sol.tions on rooting growth of “Fine Time” chrysanthemum cuttings. The first experiment was arranged in a 4 × 2 factorial.scheme: IBA concentrations (0, 1000, 2000 and 3000 mg·l.1) during summer and winter with 4 repl.cates of two pots and six cuttings per pot. In the second experiment, the storage of IBA sol.tion (1000 mg·l.1) at 15°C was studied with four repl.cates of 10 cuttings per pl.t in a period of four weeks. In the third experiment, dil.tion and suppl. of IBA (1000 mg·l.1 or 1000 mg·kg-1) were studied;there were eight treatments: (1) IBA mixed with industrial.tal.;(2) IBA dil.ted in 50% al.ohol.and oven dried at 30°C;(3) IBA dil.ted in 50% al.ohol.and oven dried at 70°C;(4) IBA dil.ted in NaOH and suppl.ed via aqueous sol.tion;(5) IBA dil.ted in acetone and suppl.ed via aqueous sol.tion;(6) IBA dil.ted in al.ohol.92.8% and suppl.ed via al.ohol.c sol.tion;(7) IBA dil.ted in al.ohol.50% and suppl.ed via al.ohol.c sol.tion;(8) IBA mixed and suppl.ed via l.nol.n;with four repl.cates of 10 cuttings per pl.t. Twenty-one days after cutting impl.mentation, the fol.owing variabl.s were eval.ated: rooting percentage, number, average l.ngth and root dry mass. Statistical.anal.sis and time-of-year averages were compared using the Tukey test at 5%;pol.nomial.regression for IBA concentration and preparation data. The means of dil.tion and del.very were compared by the Scott-Knott test. Treatment with IBA at a concentration of 3000 mg·kg-1 resul.ed in 90% rooting in the winter and 100% in the summer for al. treatments. Resul.s suggest the concentration of 2000 mg·l.1 in the summer and 2000 and 3000 mg·l.1 during the winter provided better qual.ty for the root system. Cuttings treated with IBA dil.ted in 50% al.ohol.and oven dried at 30°C showed higher number, l.ngth and vigor of the roots.

Displ.cement of the non-reduction disk with l.mitation of opening (DDwl.) can be treatment of the non-surgical.form. However, it required scientific and cl.nic knowl.dge of diagnostic area of the disorders temporomandibul.res. This study was performed with the patient CN, 18 years, white, femal., who went to the orofacial.pain ambul.tory with compl.ints of extreme pain on the right temporomandibul.r joint (TMJ) and l.mitation of maximum opening of 29 mm with shift to right, which she has been suffering for at l.ast three years. After a criterion anamnese the diagnosis hypothesis found was a displ.cement of the non-reduction disk with l.mitation of opening. The treatment was based on infil.ration in the right TMJ with anesthesic fol.owed by mandibul.r manipul.tion. After the therapeutic conduct the patient presented cl.nical.signal. of normal.ty with absence of trismus and mandibul.r movement without shift to right. The patient was fol.owed up during five years not presenting return of the pathol.gy.
