background:Evolocumab,a fully human monoclonal antibody directed against proprotein convertase subtilisin-kexin type 9,is widely used in adult patients to lower low-density lipoprotein(LDL)cholesterol *** effects in pediatric patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia are not ***:We conducted a 24-week,randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of evolocumab in pediatric patients with heterozygous familial *** 10 to 17 years of age who had received stable lipid-lowering treatment for at least 4 weeks before screening and who had an LDL cholesterol level of 130 mg per deciliter(3.4 mmol per liter)or more and a triglyceride level of 400 mg per deciliter(4.5 mmol per liter)or less were randomly assigned in a 2:1 ratio to receive monthly subcutaneous injections of evolocumab(420 mg)or *** primary end point was the percent change in LDL cholesterol level from baseline to week 24;key secondary end points were the mean percent change in LDL cholesterol level from baseline to weeks 22 and 24 and the absolute change in LDL cholesterol level from baseline to week 24.

background:Leishmaniasis causes alterations and lesions in the genital system,which leads to azoospermia and testicular atrophy in animals during the chronic phase of the *** aim of this study was to reveal the kinetics of Leishmania chagasi infection in the genital system of male golden hamsters(Mesocricetus auratus).Methods:Animals were intraperitoneally inoculated with amastigotes from *** different time points animals were euthanized and genital organs processed for histo-pathological,qPCR,cytokines and testosterone detection ***:Our results showed a high parasite load in testis,followed by an increase of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL1-β,TNF-αand IFN-γ,and ***,IL-4 expression was upregulated and basal parasite persistence in testis was observed using the experimental ***:Extracellular amastigotes migrated to the epididymis posing as a potential major factor of parasite persistence and venereal transmission of *** infection in hamsters.

Investigation of Galactic open cluster remnants： the case of NGC 7193

Galactic open clusters （OCs） that survive the early gas-expulsion phase are gradually de- stroyed over time by the action of disruptive dynamical processes. Their final evolutionary stages are characterized by a poorly populated concentration of stars called an open cluster remnant （OCR）. This study is devoted to assessing the real physical nature of the OCR candidate NGC 7193. GMOS/Gemini spectroscopy of 53 stars in the inner target region were obtained to derive radial velocities and at- mospheric parameters. We also employed photometric and proper motion data. The analysis method consists of the following steps：（i） analysis of the statistical resemblance between the cluster and a set of field samples with respect to the sequences defined in color-magnitude diagrams （CMDs）; （ii） a 5-dimensional iterative exclusion routine was employed to identify outliers from kinematical and posi- tional data; （iii） isochrone fitting to thes× （j - Ks） CMD of the remaining stars and the dispersion of spectral types along empirical sequences in the （j - H） × （H - Ks） diagram were checked. A group of stars was identified for which the mean heliocentric distance is compatible with that obtained via isochrone fitting and whose metallicities are compatible with each other. Fifteen of the member stars observed spectroscopically were identified together with another 19 probable members. Our results indi- cate that NGC 7193 is a genuine OCR, of a once very populous OC, for which the following parameters were derived： d = 501±46 pc, t = 2.5±1.2 Gyr, （[Fe/H]） = -0.17±0.23 and E（b-V） = 0.05±0.05. Its luminosity and mass functions show depletion of low mass stars, confirming the OCR is in a dynam- ically evolved state.

Effects of Exercise Training on Endothelial Function,Arterial Structure,and Physical Conditioning in Patients with Systemic Autoimmune Myopathies:A Case Series Study

Introduction. Exercise training has been effective in improving endothelial function and decreasing arterial stiffness in several systemic autoimmune diseases. However, to date, no studies have assessed patients with systemic autoimmune myopathies (SAM). Methods. Five female patients with definite SAM (3 dermatomyositis and 2 polymyositis) who underwent a 12-week, twice-a-week, exercise training program were assessed prospectively. The following parameters were assessed: endothelial function measured by flow-mediated dilatation (FMD), carotid femoral by pulse wave velocity (PWV), disease status by International Myositis Assessment & Clinical Studies Group (IMACS) set score, the ventilatory anaerobic threefold (VAT), respiratory compensation point (RCP), maximum effort (ME), maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) measured by ergospyrometer, and strength and muscle function. Results. Mean age of the patients and duration of disease were 43.9 and 10.5 years, respectively. The median FMD and PWV were 10.2% and 7.1 m/s. After exercise training, important FMD reduction was observed in 4 out of 5 patients, whereas the PWV parameters decreased in only 2 out of 5 patients. The exercise training was safe, without clinical intercurrences or disease relapses. Moreover, an increase in strength and functionality was observed. Concerning aerobic capacity, there was a decrease in the VAT and an increase in ME, without al-terations in the maximum oxygen consumption. Conclusions. In general, exercise training does not alter endothelial function and PWV values, but improves muscle strength and function and also, does not lead to disease reactivation (Clinical Trials (NCT03092167)).

A developing application of laser-driven currents is the generation of magnetic fields of picosecond-nanosecond duration with magnitudes exceeding b=10 ***-loop and helical coil targets can direct laser-driven discharge currents along wires to generate spatially uniform,quasi-static magnetic fields on the millimetre ***,we present proton deflectometry across two axes of a single-loop coil ranging from 1 to 2 mm in *** with proton tracking simulations shows that measured magnetic fields are the result of kiloampere currents in the coil and electric charges distributed around the coil *** this dual-axis platform for proton deflectometry,robust measurements can be made of the evolution of magnetic fields in a capacitor coil target.

Objective: As isolates of Cryptococcus are frequently kept collection stocks in institutions, sometimes without proper characterization, we sought to determine the genotype profiles, protease and phospholipase activities “in vitro” and the susceptibility testing for azoles and amphotericin b. Methodology: 84 isolates from several regions of brazil (40 samples from clinical origin and 44 isolates from environmental origin) were maintained at the microorganism’s bank of the biomedical Science Institute (ICb-USP) of the São Paulo University, in São Paulo, brazil. This isolates was submitted fungal strains determination, DNA extraction and purification, determination of genotype by URA5 gene RFLP of CGb-positive isolates, protease and phospholipase activity and susceptibility to antifungals. Results: Of six CGb positive isolates tested by RFLP-PCR, only four presented a genomic profile consistent C. gattii species (VGII), while two other were C. neoformans (VNI and VNIII), indicating the existence of canavanine-resistante C. neoformans isolates in the culture collections. The clinical isolates secreted higher levels of phospholipase and environmental isolates but no differences were observed for the protease levels. Almost all isolates were sensible to azoles and amphotericin b. Conclusion: We point out in this research the existence of C. neoformans strains resistant to canavanine and intrinsic characteristic of C. gatti. These results demonstrate the importance to perform a detailed characterization of isolates kept in culture collections.

Lack of Relationship between Testicular Echotexture and Seminal Characteristics in Adult Texel Rams

The objective of this study was to determine the minimum representative area to evaluate testicular echotexture parenchyma and to identify the correlations between the intensity of pixels of the testicular parenchyma and the fibrosis score with the physical and morphological characteristics of the ejaculate of Texel rams. The study used 88 Texel rams, aged between 10 and 12 months, and reared in a semi-extensive system. The animals underwent breeding soundness evaluation (bSE) and ultrasound of the testicles. The images were transferred to a computer where they were defined in areas of 400, 1600, 3600, and 6400 mm2, after which the average intensity of the pixels of each image of the testicular regions was evaluated. A testicular fibrosis score was assigned in order to quantify the frequency of fibrotic lesions. In relation to the intensity of pixels of the predetermined regions, only the area of 400 mm2 presented a difference (P mm2 being the smallest area that best represented the testicular parenchyma. There were no correlations between the intensity of pixels of the testicular parenchyma and the fibrosis score with the physical and morphological characteristics of the ejaculate of the rams.

In general, esterification reactions are favored by the increase in reaction temperature, excess of one of the reactants (usually alcohol), and additions of acid or basis catalysts. Esterification of oleic acid with methanol catalyzed by Nb2O5·nH2O calcined at different temperatures showed good conversion rates, especially at reaction temperature of 100°C and higher catalyst proportions. PLS calibration showed good results for predicting the amounts of methyl oleate in reaction products.

To achieve the Paris Agreement,China pledged to become“Carbon Neutral”by the *** addition to massive decarbonization,this would require significant changes in ecosystems toward negative CO_(2)*** ability of coastal blue carbon ecosystems(bCEs),including mangrove,salt marsh,and seagrass meadows,to sequester large amounts of CO_(2)makes their conservation and restoration an important“nature-based solution(NbS)”for climate adaptation and *** this review,we examine how bCEs in China can contribute to climate *** the national scale,the bCEs in China store up to 118 Tg C across a total area of 1,440,377 ha,including over 75%as unvegetated tidal *** annual sedimental C burial of these bCEs reaches up to 2.06 Tg C year^(−1),of which most occurs in salt marshes and tidal *** lateral C flux of mangroves and salt marshes contributes to 1.17 Tg C year^(−1)along the Chinese *** and restoration of bCEs benefit climate change mitigation and provide other ecological services with a value of$32,000 ha^(−1)year^(−1).The potential practices and technologies that can be implemented in China to improve bCE C sequestration,including their constraints and feasibility,are also *** directions are suggested to improve blue carbon estimates on aerial extent,carbon stocks,sequestration,and mitigation *** and preserving bCEs would be a cost-effective step to achieve Carbon Neutral by 2060 in China despite various barriers that should be removed.
