Patient-oriented CaremHistory, Progress and Current State according to Literature and in Practice in the Czech Republic

This work is focused on ＂patient-oriented care＂, which belongs to modem style of health care including nursing. Such health care emphasises holistic approach with focus on communication, partnership, ethic aspects of human interactions and which supports active collaboration between the patient and also his/her family and the nursing staff. In Czech scientific literature the term ＂patient-oriented care＂ is rarely encountered. Single given definition found for this topic was present in legal norm bulletin The Concept of Czech Nursing [1] which was however defined as care focused on patient problems not on care connected treatments. International literature had therefore to be addressed. Question remains whether patient-oriented care is even possible in practice when it is basically omitted from Czech scientific literature. The aim of this research was to define the term ＂patient-oriented care＂ based on historical point of view, its characteristics and sources from Czech and international literature and try and apply such care in new nursing methods of approach. This research was conducted on theoretical level. Method of analysing review documents and analytically comparative approach were applied. The total 83 scientific publications were analysed with 55 reviews, 22 articles and 6 virtual sources. The area of interest was defined to include forms of application of patient-oriented care in nursing history, the characteristics of patient-oriented care in Czech and international literature, necessary conditions for successful use of patient-oriented care and novel methods of approaching patient-oriented care. We found that contrary to the Czech Republic US has established patient-oriented care as one of the pivotal research subjects onto which much interest is focused and which is frequently being published. Relation between Antibacterial Activity against Food Transmitted Pathogens and Total Phenolic Compounds in Grape Pomace Extracts from Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah Varieties

Grape pomace is the main by-product of wine production that concentrates bioactive metabolites of polyphenolic nature with antibacterial activity. Since grape pomace composition varied depending on grape variety, climate, vineyard location, and winemaking technology, it is important to study the composition and antibacterial activity of each variety separately. In this study, antibacterial activity against different food pathogens was evaluated and its relation with polyphenols content was determined. Grape pomace from Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah varieties was extracted with methanol/HCl 1% (v/v), followed by sequential extractions with hexane, chloroform and ethyl acetate. Ethyl acetate fraction had the highest antibacterial activity determined through the microdilution method, reaching over 90% of inhibition at 500 μg·ml-1 with the exception of Salmonella Typhi (70% of inhibition). Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were the most susceptible strains, exceeding 50% of inhibition at 62.5 μg·ml-1. Ethyl acetate fraction contains the highest phenolic concentration in both Cabernet Sauvignon (132.2 mg of GAE g-1) and Syrah (102.6 mg of GAE g-1) pomace, as determined by the Folin-Ciocalteau method. Antibacterial activity present in grape pomace extracts is in direct relation to the polar phenolic content, in particular that from Cabernet Sauvignon.

The influence of disturbance on driving carbon stocks and tree dynamics of riparian forests in Cerrado

Aims Riparian forests in the Brazilian Cerrado,also known as gallery forests,are very heterogeneous in structure,species composition and ecological features due to strong and abrupt variations of soil,hydrological and topographic ***,what are the variables driving forest carbon stock and productivity,mortality and recruitment in disturbed gallery forests?Methods We used 36 permanent plots data from a gallery forest in the Brazilian *** investigated how tree community dynam-ics vary in a gallery forest on two contrasting disturbance levels-logged and non-logged-across a topographic gradient intrinsically related to differences in moisture conditions,edge effects,as well as soil fertility and *** Findings Soil variables were reduced into principal components and we used structural equation modelling to disentangle covarying *** also included carbon stocks as a determinant variable of dynamics *** forest had 50%higher productivity than non-logged forest and streamside forest had aboveground carbon stocks 70%higher than the forest *** logging and natural disturbance drove variation in the carbon stocks which contributed to shaping productivity and recruitment *** from the river also drove mortality and carbon stock *** with high-carbon stocks favoured higher competition and lessened produc-tivity and recruitment *** soil fertility and texture are considered crucial components shaping forest dynamics,there was no clear influence of those variables on the present forest,probably because the strong effects of soil moisture,forest edge and distur-bance disrupted the correlation between soil and forest dynamics.

Innovations and Regional Development in Non-Profit Sector of the Czech Republic

The aim of this study is to present one of the possibilities of innovations focused on regional development in the non-profit sector. The primary basis shows the way to eliminate or remove the problem fields, the so-called non-profit organizations failures such as philanthropic insufficiency, philanthropic paternalism, philanthropic amateurism and philanthropic particularism. These present the final values and provide conclusions of the Analysis of Non-profit Non-governmental Organisations of Zlin Region. The current situation reveals the longstanding problem of non-profit non-governmental organizations, which is the absence of professional marketing staff, and suggests new possibilities for university graduates＂ application on the labour market, thus creating the essential platform for new approaches in designing educational programs. Non-profit organizations should therefore pay increasing attention to addressing both general public and particularly the youth since young people may be their future volunteers, employees, donors and sympathizers.

The aim of this work was to evaluate arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)fungi as soil indicators and the mycorrhization of native and exotic tree species planted in the Acaraúbasin,a transition area from the coast to the Brazilian semiarid *** with 6-year-old trees of four native and three non-native species as well as one non-forested area were evaluated in terms of the diversity of AM fungi in the mycorrhizosphere and the root colonization by AM and ectomycorrhizal(EcM)***-four AM fungi were identified;Claroideoglomus etunicatum,Glomus sinuosum,Paraglomus albidum,Acaulospora laevis,and Acaulospora brasiliensis were abundant in the forest ***,dominance,evenness and richness indices of AM fungi were higher in plots with native *** root samples were colonized by AM fungi and only A nadenanthera colubrina,Acacia mangium,Casuarina equisetifolia and Eucalyptus urophylla formed associations with EcM *** morphotypes served as soil indicators for coverings with the native species Astronium fraxinifolium and Colubrina *** species may favor the proliferation of rarer AM *** fungi–plant relationships may be important in the management of forest systems,and the evidence with mycorrhizal associations allows the inclusion of Brazilian species in tropical reforestation.
