Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease,typified by hyperglycemia resulting from failures in complex multifactorial metabolic functions,that requires life-long *** uncontrolled hyperglycemia leads to micro-and macro-vascular *** antidiabetic drugs are prescribed as the first-line treatment,many of them lose efficacy over time or have severe side *** is a lack of in-depth study on the patents filed concerning the use of natural compounds to manage ***,this patent analysis provides a comprehensive report on the antidiabetic therapeutic activity of 6 phytocompounds when taken alone or in *** patent databases were searched,and 17,649 patents filed between 2001 and 2021 were retrieved.0f these,139 patents for antidiabetic therapeutic aids that included berberine,curcumin,gingerol,gymnemic acid,gymnemagenin and mangiferin were *** results showed that these compounds alone or in combinations,targeting acetylcoenzyme A carboxylase 2,serine/threonine protein kinase,α-amylase,α-glucosidase,lipooxygenase,phosphorylase,peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ(PPAr-γ),protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B,PPArγco-activator-1α,phosphoinositide 3-kinase and protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit 3C,could regulate glucose metabolism which are validated by pharmacological ***,or combination therapy,including different phytocompounds and plant extracts,has been studied extensively and found effective,whereas the efficacy of commercial drugs in combination with phytocompounds has not been studied in ***,gymnemic acid and mangiferin were found to be effective against diabetes-related complications.

The fluorine-substituted benzoate ester rod-shaped liquid crystals containing an azobenzene side chain linked with terminal double bonds were synthesized and *** mesophase and photoswitching properties were determined by polarizing optical microscopy（POM）,differential scanning calorimetry（DSC） and UV-visible *** rod-shaped compound 4a having an odd number of carbon atoms in the alkyl chains exhibits nematic phase and SmA type phase whereas compound 4b having an even number of carbon atoms showed only nematic *** fluorinecontaining compounds 4c and 4d showed only SmA type *** photoswitching properties of these compounds showed a rate of trans to cis isomerization ranging 19-20 s,whereas reverse process took around 230 min in *** materials may be ideal in the field of optically rewritable applications where both on and off rates should be crucial.

AIM To examine whether high-flow nasal oxygen(HFNO) availability influences the use of general anesthesia(GA) in patients undergoing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ErCP) and endoscopic ultrasound(EUS) and associated *** In this retrospective study, patients were stratified into 3 eras between October 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014 based on HFNO availability for deep sedation at the time of their endoscopy. During the first and last 3-mo eras(era 1 and 3), no HFNO was available, whereas it was an option during the second 3-mo era(era 2). The primary outcome was the percent utilization of GA vs deep sedation in each period. Secondary outcomes included oxygen saturation nadir during sedation between periods, as well as procedure duration, and anesthesia-only time between periods and for GA vs sedation cases *** During the study period 238 ErCP or EUS cases were identified for analysis. Statistical testing was employed and a P rroni correction for multiple comparisons was used. General anesthesia use was significantly lower in era 2 compared to era 1 with the same trend between era 2 and 3(P = 0.012 and 0.045 respectively). The oxygen saturation nadir during sedation was significantly higher in era 2 compared to era 3(P ras 1 and 2(P = 0.028) or 1 and 3(P = 0.069). The procedure time within each era was significantly longer under GA compared to deep sedation(P ≤ 0.007) as was the anesthesia-only time(P ≤ 0.001).CONCLUSION High-flow nasal oxygen availability was associated with decreased GA utilization and improved oxygenation for ErCP and EUS during sedation.

The kinetics of oxidation of thiocarbohydrazide in the free and zinc(Ⅱ)-bound states by acid bromate have been studied in aqueous and water-acetic acid(1:1,V/V)media under varying conditions,both in the absence and presence of added bromide *** rates of oxidations show first order kinetics in[bromate]in all the cases,but exhibit different kinetic behaviour in[substrate]and [H^+].Oxidation of TCH in aqueous medium shows zero order in[TCH]and nearly second order in[H^+], while oxidation in aqueous acetic acid shows two ranges in[H^+].The rate shows first and fractional order kinetics in[TCH]in the first and second acid *** observed in the presence of Br^- are similar to those observed for oxidation of TCH in second acid *** addition,the reaction shows fractional order in[Br^-].Oxidation of TCH in Zn(Ⅱ)-bound state exhibits first order kinetics in [substrate]and second order in[H^+].Increase in ionic strength of the medium decreases the rate in all the *** in acetic acid composition of the solvent increases the *** consistent with the observed results have been considered and the rate laws *** rate limiting steps have been identified and the coefficients of these steps have been calculated at different *** related activation parameters have also been *** validity of the deduced rate laws has also been tested by recalculating the rate constants from them as[TCH]and[H^+]are varied.

Objective:Triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)is highly metastatic,and there is an urgent unmet need to develop novel therapeutic strategies leading to the new drug discoveries against *** transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β)is known to promote the invasive and migratory potential of breast cancer cells through induction of epithelial–mesenchymal transition(EMT)via the ErK/NF-κB/Snail signaling pathway,leading to breast cancer *** this pathway to revert the EMT would be an attractive,novel therapeutic strategy to halt breast cancer ***:Effects of enterolactone(EL)on the cell cycle and apoptosis were investigated using flow cytometry and a cleaved caspase-3 enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),*** of TGF-βinduction and EL treatment on the functional malignancy of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells were investigated using migration and chemo-invasion *** effects of EL on EMT markers and the ErK/NF-κB/Snail signaling pathway after TGF-βinduction were studied using confocal microscopy,quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(q rT-PCr),Western blot,and flow ***:Herein,we report that EL exhibits a significant antimetastatic effect on MDA-MB-231 cells by almost reverting the TGF-β-induced EMT in *** downregulates the mesenchymal markers N-cadherin and vimentin,and upregulates the epithelial markers E-cadherin and *** represses actin stress fiber formation via inhibition of mitogen-activated protein kinase p-38(MAPK-p38)and cluster of differentiation 44(CD44).EL also suppresses ErK-1/2,NF-κB,and Snail at the m rNA and protein ***:Briefly,EL was found to inhibit TGF-β-induced EMT by blocking the ErK/NF-κB/Snail signaling pathway,which is a promising target for breast cancer metastasis therapy.

Cranial defects often occur due to trauma. The treatment of such defects is a challenge to the skill and knowledge of the practitioner. This article presents one such case, where a 15-year-old boy had suffered extensive loss of the right cranium following a road traffic accident. The patient required rehabilitation of the right fronto-temporal cranial anatomy and was managed using a custom made heat polymerized acrylic alloplastic implant.

将棕榈叶在惰性气氛中经一步热解过程制备出多孔炭(NPCs),并结合香豆素-6(C-6)形成NPCs-C-6复合荧光染料来进行癌细胞成像及靶向给药。通过XrD和raman分析可知,NPCs具有高的含碳量。傅里叶红外分析表明棕榈叶中含有纤维素、半纤维素和木质素,这有利于NPCs的形成,以及香豆素-6为导航分子的细胞成像和靶向给药。采用SEM和TEM观察NPCs结合前后的结构形貌,XPS表征元素组成。采用Zeta电位为初始指标来确定颗粒分散质量,以适合生物医学应用。NPCs-C-6分析细胞毒性和成像试验表明,对正常细胞系(MDCK:ATCCCCL-34^(TM))有高的生物相溶性,对人体癌细胞系(A-375∶ATCCCrL-1619TM与N2A∶ATCCCCL-131^(TM))有高的毒性。因此,这些研究结果有望为生物基功能NPCs作治疗载体的研究进展提供新思路。

Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is an intensifying disorder that causes brain cells to degenerate early and *** cognitive impairment(MCI)is one of the early signs of AD that interferes with people’s regular functioning and daily *** proposed work includes a deep learning approach with a multimodal recurrent neural network(rNN)to predict whether MCI leads to Alzheimer’s or *** gated recurrent unit(GrU)rNN classifier is trained using individual and correlated *** vectors are concate-nated based on their correlation strength to improve prediction *** feature vectors generated are given as the input to multiple different classifiers,whose decision function is used to predict the final output,which determines whether MCI progresses onto AD or *** findings demonstrated that,compared to individual modalities,which provided an average accuracy of 75%,our prediction model for MCI conversion to AD yielded an improve-ment in accuracy up to 96%when used with multiple concatenated *** the accuracy of different decision functions,such as Support Vec-tor Machine(SVM),Decision tree,random Forest,and Ensemble techniques,it was found that that the Ensemble approach provided the highest accuracy(96%)and Decision tree provided the lowest accuracy(86%).

The severe cardiotoxicity incurred due to doxorubicin limits the use of their therapeutic *** current study aims to investigate the cardioprotective effect of concomitant administration of flax lignan concentrate(FLC)and omega-3-fatty acid(ω-3-FA)on myocardial damage in doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in Wistar *** was induced by intraperitoneal injection of doxorubicin(4 mg/kg)on day 7th,14th,21st and 28th day in normal *** administration of FLC(500 mg/kg)andω-3-FA(1 mL/kg)lowered TNF-αlevel,normalized ST,QT and mean arterial blood pressure,elevation in endogenous enzymes levels such as glutathione and lowering in malondialdehyde,super oxide dismutase followed by normalized lipid profile and reduced the mortality *** treatment had antiapoptotic potential at cellular level also histopathology of heart tissue(light and electron microscopical).Thus concomitant action of FLC andω-3-FA may be antioxidant,antihyperlipidemic,anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic actions seem to the probable mechanisms in doxorubicin induced *** can be concluded that FLC andω-3-FA both have distinct mechanism for cardioprotection and hence the additive effect was observed in the present study due to concomitant administration of FLC andω-3-FA.©2013 Beijing Academy of Food *** and hosting by Elsevier *** rights reserved.
