AIM To investigate the correlations between clinical outcomes and biopsychological variables in female patients with knee osteoarthritis(OA).METHODS Seventy-seven patients with symptomatic knee OA were enrolled in this *** investigated the age,body mass index(BMI),pain catastrophizing scale(PCS)and radiographic severity of bilateral knees using a Kellgren-Lawrence(K-L)grading system of the ***,a multiple linear regression was conducted to determine which variables best correlated with main outcomes of knee OA,which were pain severity,moving capacity by measuring timed-up-and-go test and Japanese Knee Osteoarthritis Measure(JKOM).RESULTS We found that the significant contributor to pain severity was PCS(β=0.555)and BMI(β=0.239),to moving capacity was K-L grade(β=0.520)and to PCS(β=0.313),and to a JKOM score was PCS(β=0.485)and K-L grade(β=0.421),*** The results suggest that pain catastrophizing as well as biological factors were associated with clinical outcomes in female patients with knee OA,irrespective of radiographic severity.

BACKGROUND Lipoprotein(a)[Lp(a)]is a causal risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases;however,its role in acute coronary syndrome(ACS)remains *** To investigate the hypothesis that the Lp(a)levels are altered by various conditions during the acute phase of ACS,resulting in subsequent cardiovascular *** From September 2009 to May 2016,377 patients with ACS who underwent emergent coronary angiography,and 249 who completed≥1000 d of follow-up were ***(a)levels were measured using an isoform-independent assay at each time point from before percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)to 48 h after *** primary endpoint was the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events(MACE;cardiac death,other vascular death,ACS,and non-cardiac vascular events).RESULTS The mean circulating Lp(a)level decreased significantly from pre-PCI(0 h)to 12 h after(19.0 mg/dL to 17.8 mg/dL,P<0.001),and then increased significantly up to 48 h after(19.3 mg/dL,P<0.001).The changes from 0 to 12 h[Lp(a)Δ0-12]significantly correlated with the basal levels of creatinine[Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient(SRCC):-0.181,P<0.01]and Lp(a)(SRCC:-0.306,P<0.05).Among the tertiles classified according to Lp(a)Δ0-12,MACE was significantly more frequent in the lowest Lp(a)Δ0-12 group than in the remaining two tertile groups(66.2%vs 53.6%,P=0.034).A multivariate analysis revealed that Lp(a)Δ0-12[hazard ratio(HR):0.96,95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.92-0.99]and basal creatinine(HR:1.13,95%CI:1.05-1.22)were independent determinants of subsequent *** Circulating Lp(a)levels in patients with ACS decreased significantly after emergent PCI,and a greater decrease was independently associated with a worse prognosis.

Fulminant hepatitis is a serious, life-threatening disorder and is associated with inflammatory cytokines produced by Kupffer cells. However, a number of clinical trials for the treatment of fulminant hepatitis did not show enough substantial benefits. Since NF-κB is a key mediator of inflammatory response in Kupffer cells, NF-κB decoy would be an attractive candi-datefor the treatment of fulminant hepatitis.

AIM： To evaluate the effect of ANP on warm I/R injury in a porcine THVE model.METHODS： Miniature pigs （mini-pigs） weighing 16-24 kg were observed for 120 min after reperfusion following 120 min of THVE. The animals were divided into two groups. ANP （0.1 μg/kg per min） was administered to the ANP group （n = 7）, and vehicle was administered to the control group （n = 7）. Either vehicle or ANP was intravenously administered from 30 min before the THVE to the end of the experiment. Arterial blood was collected to measure AST, LDH, and TNF-α. Hepatic tissue blood flow （HTBF） was also measured. Liver specimens were harvested for p38 MAPK analysis and histological study. Those results were compared between the two groups.RESULTS： The AST and LDH levels were lower in the ANP group than in the control group; the AST levels were significantly different between the two groups （60 min： 568.7 ± 113.3 vs 321.6 ± 60.1, P = 0.038 〈 0.05, 120 rain： 673.6± 148.2 vs 281.1±44.8, P = 0.004 〈 0.01）. No significant difference was observed in the TNF-α levels between the two groups. HTBF was higher in the ANP group, but the difference was not significant. A significantly higher level of phosphorylated p38 MAPK was observed in the ANP group compared to the control group （0min： 2.92± 1.1 vs 6.38 ±1.1,,P= 0.011 〈 0.05）.Histological tissue damage was milder in the ANP group than in the control group.CONCLUSION： Our results show that ANP has a protective role in I/R injury with p38 MAPK activation in a porcine THVE model.

This study examined the physical assessment ability of Mongolian nurses and midwives engaged in maternal care and the factors that could influence this ability. We found that nurses and midwives from prefectural hospitals had higher scores than those from national and district (soum) hospitals. The latter group could not perform more than half of the 28 tested procedures on their own, even though most had over 10 years’ experience. Therefore, to decrease the Mongolian maternal mortality ratio, we argue that in-service training for nurses and midwives in both the capital city and peripheral areas is needed.

Surface modifications,which result in formation of a hard layer such as CrN,TiN,TiCN etc. on tool surfaces,have been widely utilized in machining tools. How ever,the hard layer has clear interface with the matrix,thereby the delamination between the hard layer and matrix often occurs because of a mismatch of the thermal expansion coefficients. A composite layer with complicated interfaces between hard material and matrix is desired to avoid such a delamination due to a complicated interface existed between workpiece and coating materials. In this study,the formation of ceramic- metal composite layers on the surfaces of die steels by an electron beam( EB) irradiation technique has been investigated. When WC- Co powder was embrocated onto the substrate surfaces,a composite layer of WC- Co and matrix was formed through solidification after the irradiation-induced melting. The composite layer shows a marble- like texture with WC- rich regions. The hardness of the layer reaches up to 1000 HV. For other ceramic pow ders such as TiN and SiC,only small amount of particles has been incorporated into the composite layer,resulting in a relatively low hardness enhancement after the EB irradiation.

Ceramics (alumina) coating on several materials has been successfully achieved at room temperature by gas - assisted deposition (GAD) technique. In the GAD process the alumina powder was accelerated by jet flow with velocity of ～ 1000 m/s and impacted to a substrate, thereby a flat and dense film was deposited up to 10 μm on the substrate without any additional heating. The crystal structure of the alumina in an obtained GAD films seemed as amorphous like. The crystalline phase was recovered by post annealing at 1 300 ℃, however, the matrix resulted in a hollow structure.
