Recovery of collembola in Pinus tabulaeformis Plantations

Large areas of forest plantations h.ve been developed in ch.na. It is important to evaluate th. soil fauna in plantations and th. conditions needed for th.ir recovery in view of th. large areas of plantations in ch.na. Th.ee Pinus tabulaeformis forests, a 26-year-old plantation （P26） and a 45-year-old plantation （P45）, exposed to clear-cutting before plantation, and an 80 260-year-old natural forest （N260）, were ch.sen to study th. effects of different forest ages/types on collembola community in th. lifter and soil layers during 2008 and 2009. Soil conditions in P26 and P45 were significantly deteriorated wh.n compared to N260. A h.gh.r value of soil bulk density and lower values of soil organic matter, soil N, litter depth. soil ph. and soil water content were observed in P26 and P45. Totally, th. same genera of collembola tended to occur in th. forests of all ages studied; h.wever, th. collembola community structure was significantly impacted by th. differences in forest age. Both.in th. litter and soil layers, th. density and generic rich.ess of th. collembola were th. h.gh.st in N260 and th. lowest in P26. Some collembolan groups were sensitive to soil conditions in particular forest ages. N260 was associated with.relatively h.gh.abundance of Plutomus collembolans and P45 with.relatively h.gh.abundance of Pseudofolsomia collembolans. Th. canonical correspondence analysis sh.wed th.t th. community structure of collembola was mainly affected by forest age in both.litter and soil layer. Th. ordination analysis of non-metric multidimensional scaling also found th.t th. collembola community did not recover to th. level of natural forests in 26-year regeneration after clear-cutting. Even in 45-year regeneration after clear-cutting, th. collembola community only sh.wed a sligh. recovery to th. level of natural forests. Our results clearly sh.wed th.t both.collembola community and soil conditions did not recover in 26- and 45-year regeneration after clear-cutting in P.

Temperature sensitivity of waxy crude oils makes it difficult to study th.ir flow beh.viour in th. presence of water especially near th.ir wax appearance temperature （WAT）. In th.s study a meth.d was proposed and implemented to mitigate such.difficulties wh.ch.was applied in predicting mixture temperatures （Tin） of a typical Malaysian waxy crude oil and water flow in a h.rizontal pipe. To th.s end, two analytical models were derived firstly from calorimetry equation wh.ch.based on developed two correlations for defining crude oil h.at capacity actualized from th. existed specific h.at capacities of crude oils. Th. models were th.n applied for a set of experiments to reach.th. defined th.ee predetermined Tm （26 ℃, 28 ℃ and 30 ℃）. Th. comparison between th. predicted mixture temperatures （Tin,1 and Tin,2） from th. two models and th. experimental results displayed acceptable absolute average errors （0.80% 0.62%, 0.53% for model 1; 0,74%, 0.54%, 0.52% for model 2）. Moreover, th. average errors for both.models are in th. range of standard error limits （4-0,75Z） according to ASTM E230. conclusively, th. proposed model sh.wed th. ease of obtaining mixture temperatures close to WAT as predetermined with.accuracy of ± 0.5 ℃approximately for over 84% of th. examined cases. Th. meth.d is seen as a practical reference point to furth.r study th. flow beh.viour of waxy crudes in oil-water two-ph.se flow system near sensitive temperatures.

We consider an h. synch.onization problem in nonlinear Bloch.systems. Based on Lyapunov stability th.ory and linear matrix inequality formulation, a dynamic feedback controller is designed to guarantee asymptotic stability of th. master-slave synch.onization. Moreover, th.s controller reduces th. effect of an external disturbance to th. h. norm constraint. A numerical example is given to validate th. proposed synch.onization sch.me.

We use effective field th.ory （EFT） for th. calculation of neutron-deuteron radiative capture at very low energies. We present h.re th. use of EFT to calculate a low-energy ph.to-nuclear observable in th.ee-body systems, th. ph.ton polarization parameter and and fore-aft asymmetry at th.rmal neutron energies up to next-to-next to leading order （N2 LO）, with.inclasion of th. electric quadrupole contribution. Th. ph.ton polarization parameter in total is found to be Rc = -0.421±0.003 and is in good agreement with.th. oth.r modern th.oretical calculations based on modern nucleon-nucleon potentials. In comparison with.our previous work, a satisfactory agreement with.th. available experimental data is found by inclusion of th. electric quadrupole contribution.

A novel twice-interpolation finite element meth.d for solid mech.nics problems

Formulation and numerical evaluation of a novel twice-interpolation finite element meth.d （TFEM） is presented for solid mech.nics problems. In th.s meth.d, th. trial function for Galerkin weak form is constructed th.ough.two stages of consecutive interpolation. Th. primary interpolation follows exactly th. same procedure of standard FEM and is furth.r reproduced according to both.nodal values and averaged nodal gradients obtained from primary interpolation. Th. trial functions th.s constructed h.ve continuous nodal gradients and contain h.gh.r order polynomial with.ut increasing total freedoms. Several bench.ark examples and a real dam problem are used to examine th. TFEM in terms of accuracy and convergence. compared with.standard FEM, TFEM can ach.eve significantly better accuracy and h.gh.r convergence rate, and th. continuous nodal stress can be obtained with.ut any smooth.ng operation. It is also found th.t TFEM is insensitive to th. quality of th. elemental mesh. In addition, th. present TFEM can treat th. incompressible material with.ut any modification.

A new type of local support is introduced to ensure th. alignment of integral domains with.th. cells of th. back-ground mesh. wh.ch.will reduce th. difficult in integration. An intensive numerical study is conducted to test th. accuracy of th. present meth.d. It is observed th.t solutions with.good accuracy can be obtained with.th. present meth.d.

AIM： To study th. effect of celecoxib （cXB） on dieth.lnitrosamine activation th.ough.th. regulation of cytoch.ome P450 in a h.patocarcinogenesis ***： Six-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into five groups, a non-treated group （NT）, a dieth.lnitrosamine-treated group （DEN）, a DEN＋cXB-treated group （DEN＋cXB）,and cXB 8 d-treated and cXB 32 d-treated groups. Th. effects of celecoxib on th. enzymatic activities of cYP1A1, 2A, 2B1/2, and 2E1 were assessed in h.patic microsomes 24 h.after DEN *** in cYPIA1 and cYP2B1/2 protein expression were also evaluated. Th. rate of DEN metabolism was measured by th. production of th. deeth.lation metabolite acetaldeh.de, and th. denitrosation metabolite ***： DEN＋cXB administration produced a significant increase in th. enzymatic activities ofcYP2B1/2 and 1A1, wh.reas it did not ch.nge th. activities of cYP2A and 2E1, compared to th.t of th. DEN group. cXB treatment for eigh. days did not produce a significant effect on enzymatic activity wh.n compared to th. NT group; h.wever, wh.n it was administered for prolonged times （cXB 32 d group）,th. enzymatic activities were increased in a similar pattern to th.se in th. DEN＋cXB group. Th. observed increase in th. enzymatic activities in th. DEN＋cXB group was accompanied by an increase in th. cYP2B1/2 protein levels; no ch.nges were observed in th. levels of cYPIA1. In vitro, cXB increased th. denitrosation of DEN, a path.ay of metabolic detoxification. Simulating canopy stomatal conductance of winter wh.at and its distribution using remote sensing information

Th. canopy stomatal movement, a plant ph.siological process, generally occurs with.n leaves but its influence on exch.nge of cO2, water vapor, and sensible h.at fluxes between atmosph.re and terrestrial ecosystem. Many studies h.ve documented th.t th. interaction between leaf ph.tosynth.sis and canopy stomatal conductance is obvious. Th.s, information on stomatal conductance is valuable in climate and ecosystem models. In current study, a newly developed model was adopted to calculate canopy stomatal conductance of winter wh.at in h.ang-h.ai-h.i (h.h.h. Plain of ch.na (31.5 - 42.7°N, 110.0 - 123.0°E). Th. remote sensing information from NOAA-AVh.R and meteorological observed data were used to estimate regional scale stomatal conductance distribution. canopy stomatal conductance distribution pattern of winter wh.at on March.18, 1997 was also presented. Th. developed canopy stomatal conductance model migh. be used to estimate canopy stomatal conductance in land surface sch.mes and seems can be acted as a boundary condition in regional climatic model runs.
