Water contaminated with pathogenic microbes is considered as one of the most common routes for transmitting diseases in human *** methods have been applied for the decontamination of microbes in contaminated *** the current study,an easy to do hydrothermal method has been used for the preparation of TiO_(2)-Ag *** obtained material was characterised using a scanning electron microscope(SEm)and fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy(FTIR).The morphological appearance of the obtained nanoparticles was in the shape of a sphere with a size range of 60-90 *** antimicrobial activity of the prepared nanoparticles was tested against several pathogenic bacteria and *** obtained results proved that the nanoparticles succeeded to affect all the tested microbes in the following order:Bacillus cereus ATCC6633>Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC9027=Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC13883>Vibrio cholera ATCC700=Candida albicans ATCC 700=Escherichia coli NCTC10418>Staphylococcus aureus *** minimum inhibitory concentration(mIC)of the prepared nanoparticles varied among the tested microbes at range of 12 mg/ml and 25 mg/*** results encourage the application of prepared TiO_(2)-Ag nanoparticles for treatment of microbe-contaminated waters.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of moringa oleifera leaf ethanol extract as an adjunct treatment on lead acetate induced hepatonephrotoxicity in rabbits. methods: Thirty-six male New Zealand White rabbits were assigned into two main groups. The first group(14 rabbits) served as normal control. The second group(22 rabbits) was administered orally with lead acetate at a dose of 40 mg/kg/day, 5 days/week for 8 weeks. At the 4 th and the 8 th week of treatment, 6 animals(3 animals at each period) of the second group were sacrificed while the remaining animals(16 rabbits) were assigned randomly into 2 subgroups(8 rabbits each): treated and non-treated. The first subgroup was orally given 1 m L phosphate-buffered saline for further 4 weeks while the second subgroup was administered orally with moringa oleifera leaf ethanol extract at a dose of 400 mg/kg/day for the same period. Blood samples were collected to determine hematological and serum biochemical indices. Tissue specimens were collected from the liver and kidney for evaluation of the oxidant/antioxidant markers and for histopathological ***: Lead acetate exposure decreased the mean body weight gain, hematocrit, hemoglobin, mean corpuscular volume, and lymphocytes count. moreover, it markedly increased counts of monocytes and platelets, serum enzyme activity, levels of creatinine, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. malondialdehyde level was markedly increased while the reduced glutathione content was significantly decreased in liver tissue of lead intoxicated-rabbits. Histopathological alterations were also noticed in the liver and kidney of lead intoxicated rabbits. moringa oleifera leaf ethanol extract significantly improved hematological and serum biochemical parameters and histopathological structure of the liver and kidney. The SmYD(SET and mYND domain)family of lysine methyltransferases(KmTs)plays pivotal roles in various cellular processes,including gene expression regulation and DNA damage *** identified as genuine histone methyltransferases,specific members of this family have recently been shown to methylate non-histone proteins such as p53,VEGFR,and the retinoblastoma tumor suppressor(pRb).To gain further functional insights into this family of KmTs,we generated the protein interaction network for three different human SmYD proteins(SmYD2,SmYD3,and SmYD5).Characterization of each SmYD protein network revealed that they associate with both shared and unique sets of *** those,we found that HSP90 and several of its co-chaperones interact specifically with the tetratrico peptide repeat(TPR)-containing SmYD2 and ***,using proteomic and biochemical techniques,we provide evidence that SmYD2 methylates K209 and K615 on HSP90 nucleotide-binding and dimerization domains,*** addition,we found that each methylation site displays unique reactivity in regard to the presence of HSP90 co-chaperones,pH,and demethylation by the lysine amine oxidase LSD1,suggesting that alternative mechanisms control HSP90 methylation by ***,this study highlights the ability of SmYD proteins to form unique protein complexes that may underlie their various biological functions and the SmYD2-mediated methylation of the key molecular chaperone HSP90.

Nephronophthisis-related ciliopathies(NPHP-RC)represent one of the most common causes of chronic kidney disease in the first three decades of life and are characterized by a broad genetic and clinical heterogeneity.1 To date,more than 90 genes have been identified that cause autosomalrecessive NPHP-RC if mutated,accounting for up to 60%of cases.1 Among these,homozygous deletions of NPHP1 are the most common *** genes localize to primary cilia,basal bodies,or the centrosome and lead to a primary ciliary disruption if mutated,thereby causing a broad phenotypical spectrum.1 Patients that suffer from NPHP-RC can either have an isolated renal phenotype,such as polyuria,polydipsia,decreased urinary concentration ability,and secondary enuresis due to loss of tubular function,or present with extrarenal symptoms including retinal degeneration,cerebellar vermis hypoplasia,or hepatic *** are often diagnosed in early adolescence,reaching end-stage renal disease before 25 years of age,but early onset and rapidly progressive forms of NPHP-RC also exist.1 Renal ultrasound indicates kidneys of normal or reduced renal length with increased echogenicity and corticomedullary cysts.

Vitamin D supplementation improves sustained virologic response in chronic hepatitis C (genotype 1)-nave patients

AIm: To determine whether adding vitamin D, a potent immunomodulator, improves the hepatitis C virus (HCV) response to antiviral therapy. mETHODS: Seventy-two consecutive patients with chronic HCV genotype 1 were randomized into two groups: the treatment group (n = 36, 50% male, mean age 47 ± 11 years) received Peg-α-2b interferon (1.5 μg/kg per week) plus ribavirin (1000-1200 mg/d) together with vitamin D3 (2000 IU/d, target serum level > 32 ng/mL), and the control group (n = 36, 60% male, mean age 49 ± 7 years) received identical therapy without vitamin D. HCV-RNA was assessed by realtime polymerase chain reaction (sensitivity, 10 IU/mL). The sustained virologic response (SVR) was defined as undetectable HCV-RNA at 24 wk post-treatment. RESULTS: Clinical characteristics were similar in both groups. The treatment group had a higher mean bodymass index (27 ± 4 kg/m2 vs 24 ± 3 kg/m2, P F2: 42% vs 19%, P ment (SVR), 31 (86%) treated patients and 15 (42%) controls were HCV-RNA negative (P min D supplementation were strongly and independently associated with SVR (multivariate analysis). Adverse events were mild and typical of Peg-α-2b/ribavirin. CONCLUSION: Adding vitamin D to conventional Peg-α-2b/ribavirin therapy for treatment-na■ve patients with chronic HCV genotype 1 infection significantly improves the viral response.

Effects of feeding whole linseed on ruminal fatty acid composition and microbial population in goats

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of feeding different levels of whole linseed,as a source of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA), on ruminal fatty acid composition and microbial population in the goat. Twenty-four crossbred Boer goats were assigned to 3 dietary treatments: LO(control), L10 and L20 containing 0,10%, or 20% whole linseed, respectively. The ruminal pH and concentration of total volatile fatty acids(VFA) were not affected by dietary treatments. The feeding of L10 and L20 diets produced higher(P molar proportions of acetate and lower(P molar proportions of butyrate and valerate than the LO diet. molar proportions of myristic acid(C14:0) and palmitic acid(C16:0) were lower(P men of goats offered L10 and L20 diets than the control diet. However, stearic acid(C18:0), vaccenic acid(C18:1 trans-11), conjugated linoleic acid(CLA,C18:2 trans-10, cis-12) and a-lenolenic acid(C18:3 n-3) were higher(P men of goats fed L10 and L20 than L0. Both inclusion levels of linseed in the diet(L10 and L20) reduced the ruminal total bacteria, methanogens, and protozoa compared with LO(P ments on cellulolytic bacteria, varied between the individual species. Both inclusion levels of linseed resulted in a significant decrease(P munococus flavefaciens compared with LO, with no significant difference between the groups fed linseed diets. The population of Rumunococus albus was not affected by the different dietary treatments. It was concluded that inclusion of whole linseed in the diet of goats could increase the concentration of PUFA in the rumen, and decrease the population of F. succinogenes, R. flavefaciens, methanogens and protozoa in rumen liquid of goats.

Acute pancreatitis(AP)associated with intravenous administration of propofol has been described with unknown causal *** therefore assessed this causality in a systematic *** databases were searched on 16 August 2017;studies were appraised and selected by two reviewers based on a priori *** causality was evaluated with the Naranjo scale and Badalov *** identified 18 studies from 11 countries with a total of 21 patients,and the majority had adequate methodological *** median age was 35 years(range,4–77)and 10(48%)were ***,propofol was administrated in 8 patients as sedative along with induction/maintenance of anesthesia in 13 patients;median dose was 200 mg,with intermediate latency(1–30 days)in 14(67%).Serum triglycerides were>1000 mg/dL in four *** AP was observed in four patients(19%).AP recurrence occurred in one out of two patients who underwent *** related to AP was 3/21(14%).Propofol was the probable cause of AP according to the Naranjo scale in 19 patients(89%).Propofol-induced AP has a probable causal relation and evidence supports Badalov class *** is not the only mechanism by which propofol illicit ***-induced AP was severe in 19%of patients with a mortality rate related to AP of 14%.Future research is needed to delineate whether this risk is higher if combined with other procedures that portend inherent risk of pancreatitis such as endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.
