目的:描述和对比口服降糖药(oAD)和胰岛素治疗2型糖尿病患者眼表的效果。方法:在安卡拉卫生部培训和研究医院就诊的20例40眼口服降糖药患者,20例40眼胰岛素治疗患者,对照组的10例非糖尿病人作为研究对象。对所有患者进行常规眼科检查,Schirmer试验,泪膜破裂时间分析和结膜印迹细胞学分析.比较三组的泪液功能参数,杯状细胞密度和鳞状上皮化生等级。记录视网膜病变及眼表疾病之间的关系。结果:口服降糖药患者泪膜破裂时间值明显低于其他组(P<0.05)。三组的杯状细胞密度和鳞状上皮化生等级相近。上皮细胞稍大,呈现更多的多边形的眼的中位数级为1级,并且嗜酸性染色胞浆和杯状细胞数量减少。视网膜病变与眼表疾病不相关。结论:口服降糖药患者的角膜前泪膜稳定性比其他组差。各组的印迹细胞学分析结果相似。

Results of percutaneous sclerotherapy and surgical treatment in patients with symptomatic simple liver cysts and polycystic liver disease

AIm: To evaluate the results of the treatment of simple liver cysts (solitary and multiple) and polycystic liver disease (PLD) using percutaneous sclerotherapy and/or surgical procedures in a single tertiary referral centre. mETHoDS: Retrospective analysis of 54 patients referred for evaluation and possible treatment of simple liver cysts (solitary and multiple) and PLD, from January 1997 to July 2006. RESULTS: Simple liver cysts were treated in 41 pts (76/) with a mean size of 12.6 cm. The most common reason for referral was abdominal pain or discomfort (85/). Percutaneous sclerotherapy was performed as initial treatment in 30 pts, showing cyst recurrence in 6 pts (20/). Surgical treatment was initially performed in 11 pts with cyst recurrence in 3 pts (27/). PLD was treated in 13 pts (24/) with a mean size of the dominant cyst of 13 cm. Percutaneous sclerotherapy for PLD was performed in 9 pts with recurrence in 7 pts (77.8/). Surgical treatment for PLD was undertaken in 4 pts (30.8/) with recurrence in all. Eventually, 2 pts with PLD in the presence of polycystic kidney disease underwent liver-and kidney transplantation because of deterioration of liver and kidney function. CoNCLUSIoN: The majority of patients with simple liver cysts and PLD are referred for progressive abdominal pain. As initial treatment, percutaneous sclerotherapy is appropriate. Surgical deroofing is indicated in caseof cyst recurrence after percutaneous sclerotherapy. However, the results of percutaneous sclerotherapy and surgical treatment for PLD are disappointing. Partial liver resection is indicated when there is suspicion of a pre-malignant lesion.

The industrial adoption of microbial electrosynthesis(mES)is hindered by high overpotentials deriving from low electrolyte conductivity and inefficient cell *** this study,a mixed microbial consortium originating from an anaerobic digester operated under saline conditions(∼13 g L^(−1)NaCl)was adapted for acetate production from bicarbonate in galvanostatic(0.25 mA cm^(−2))H-type cells at 5,10,15,or 20 g L^(−1)NaCl *** acetogenic communities were successfully enriched only at 5 and 10 g L^(−1)NaCl,revealing an inhibitory threshold of about 6 g L^(−1)Na^(+).The enriched planktonic communities were then used as inoculum for 3D printed,three-chamber cells equipped with a gas diffusion *** cells were fed with Co_(2)gas and operated galvanostatically(0.25 or 1.00 mA cm^(−2)).The highest production rate of 55.4 g m^(−2) d^(−1)(0.89 g L^(−1)d^(−1)),with 82.4%Coulombic efficiency,was obtained at 5 g L^(−1)NaCl concentration and 1 mA cm^(−2)applied current,achieving an average acetate production of 44.7 kg mWh−*** electron microscopy and 16S rRNA sequencing analysis confirmed the formation of a cathodic biofilm dominated by Acetobacterium ***,three 3D printed cells were hydraulically connected in series to simulate an mES stack,achieving three-fold production rates than with the single cell at 0.25 mA cm^(−2).This confirms that three-chamber mES cells are an efficient and scalable technology for Co_(2)bio-electro recycling to acetate and that moderate saline conditions(5 g L^(−1)NaCl)can help reduce their power demand while preserving the activity of acetogens.

The hepatitis C virus is hitherto a tremendous threat to human beings,but many researchers have analyzed mathematical models for hepatitis C virus transmission dynamics only in the deterministic *** plays an immense role in pathology and ***,the main theme of this article is to investigate a stochastic epidemic hepatitis C virus model with five states of epidemiological classification:susceptible,acutely infected,chronically infected,recovered or removed and chronically infected,and *** stochastic hepatitis C virus model in epidemiology is established based on the environmental influence on individuals,is manifested by stochastic perturbations,and is proportional to each *** assert that the stochastic HCV model has a unique global positive solution and attains sufficient conditions for the extinction of the hepatotropic RNA ***,by constructing a suitable Lyapunov function,we obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of an ergodic stationary distribution of the solutions to the stochastic HCV ***,this article confirms that using numerical simulations,the six parameters of the stochastic HCV model can have a high impact over the disease transmission dynamics,specifically the disease transmission rate,the rate of chronically infected population,the rate of progression to chronic infection,the treatment failure rate of chronically infected population,the recovery rate from chronic infection and the treatment rate of the chronically infected ***,numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of our theoretical conclusions.

Pre-Weaning Growth Traits in Nigerian Indigenous Pig Crossbreds

Forty-seven hybrid progenies from crossbreeding between the Nigerian indigenous pig (NIP) and Large white pigs were used. Body measurements and live weight were recorded weekly from first week of birth to their weaning date. Body measurements taken were Body Weight (BW), Body Length (BL), Body Height (BH), Heart girth (HG) and Rump circumference (rc) of crossbred progenies. The correlation between the reproductive parameters and growth performance of hybrid pigs were established with good management practice. The mean for weaning weight was 6.72 ± 0.02, birth weight 0.91 ± 0.13, litter size at birth 5.36 ± 1.87, litter size at weaning 5.29 ± 1.97, litter weight at birth 4.56 ± 1.57, total litter weight at weaning 33.91 ± 11.6, average daily weaning weight 0.73 ± 0.12, average litter size at birth 0.93 ± 0.11 and sex ratio 97.78% ± 8.61%. The male and female mean values for weight of animals were 6.96 ± 1.0 and 6.52 ± 0.9 with male heavier in weight and higher in morphometric traits such as body length, heart girth and rump circumference, while the female were high in morphometric traits such as snout length, ear length and body height. The correlation matrix for body weight against linear body measurements in pre-weaned NIP crossbreds indicates that all the parameters could be used to select for body weight. The linear equation generated by regressing body weight on snout length, body height, rump circumference, heart girth and body length could be used by resource poor pig farmers in the estimation of body weight of pre weaned crossbreds pigs if they cannot afford weighing scales.

Silicon nanowires(Si NWs)have been widely researched as the best alternative to graphite anodes for the next-generation of high-performance lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)owing to their high capacity and low discharge ***,growing binder-free Si NW anodes with adequate mass loading and stable capacity is severely limited by the low surface area of planar current collectors(CCs),and is particularly challenging to achieve on standard pure-Cu substrates due to the ubiquitous formation of Li+inactive silicide ***,the growth of densely-interwoven In-seeded Si NWs is facilitated by a thin-film of copper-silicide(CS)network in situ grown on a Cu-foil,allowing for a thin active NW layer(m thick)and high areal loading(≈1.04 mg/cm^(2))binder-free electrode *** electrode exhibits an average Coulombic efficiency(CE)of>99.6%and stable performance for>900 cycles with≈88.7%capacity *** significantly,it delivers a volumetric capacity of≈1086.1 m A h/cm^(3)at *** full-cell versus lithium manganese oxide(Lmo)cathode delivers a capacity of≈1177.1 m A h/g at 1C with a stable rate *** electrode architecture represents significant advances toward the development of binder-free Si NW electrodes for LIB application.
