c.emic.l oxidation was applied to an artific.ally c.ntaminated soil with naphthalene(NAP).Evaluation of NAP distribution and mass reduc.ion in soil,water and air phases was c.rried out through mass *** of NAP distribution and mass reduc.ion in soil,water and air phases was c.rried out through mass *** importanc. of the air phase analysis was emphasized by demonstrating how NAP behaves in a sealed system over a 4 hr reac.ion *** of Experiments method was applied to the following variables:sodium persulfate c.nc.ntration[SP],ferrous sulfate c.nc.ntration[FeS04],and *** system operated with a prefixed solid to liquid ratio of 1:*** following c.nditions resulted in optimum NAP removal[SP]=18.37 g/L,[FeSO4]=4.25 g/L and pH=*** the end of the 4 hr reac.ion,62%of NAP was *** the soil phase,the c.emic.l oxidation reduc.d the NAP c.nc.ntration thus ac.ieving levels whic. c.mply with Brazilian and USA environmental *** the NAP partitioning view,the monitoring of eac. phase allowed the variabilities assessment over the proc.ss,refining the knowledge of mass *** on NAP distribution in the system,this study demonstrates the importanc. of evaluating the presenc. of semi-volatile and volatile organic.c.mpounds in the air phase during remediation,so that there is greater c.ntrol of the system as to the distribution and presenc. of the c.ntaminant in the *** results highlight the importanc. of treating the c.ntaminant in all its phases at the c.ntaminated site.

Experimental researc. has long shown that forc.d-c.nvec.ive heat transfer in wall-bounded turbulent flows of fluids in the superc.itic.l thermodynamic.state is not ac.urately predic.ed by c.rrelations that have been developed for single-phase fluids in the subc.itic.l thermodynamic.state. In the present c.mputational study, the statistic.l properties of turbulent flow as well as the development of c.herent flow struc.ures in a zero-pressuregradient flat-plate boundary layer are investigated in the absenc. of body forc.s, where the working fluid is in the superc.itic.l thermodynamic.state. The simulated boundary layers are developed to a fric.ion reynolds number of 250 for two heat-flux to mass-flux ratios c.rresponding to c.ses where normal heat transfer and im.roved heat transfer are observed. In the c.se where im.roved heat transfer is observed, spanwise spac.ng of the near-wall c.herent flow struc.ures is reduc.d due to a relatively less stable flow environment resulting from the lower magnitudes of the wall-normal visc.sity-gradient profile.

Yttria-stabilized zirc.nia(YSZ,ZrO_(2)-8%Y2O_(3))films were deposited onto lanthanum strontium manganite(LSm,La_(0.7)Sr_(0.3)mnO_(3))substrates using dip-c.ating proc.ss aiming for the applic.tion in solid oxide fuel c.lls(SOFc.).YSZ prec.rsor was prepared by sol-gel method;three values of the organic.inorganic.c.nc.ntration ratio(1,3 and 5)were utilized and the sol visc.sity was adjusted(60 mPa·s and 100 mPa·s)before deposition on the *** influenc. of these synthesis parameters on the struc.ure and m.rphology of the deposited films was examined by X-ray diffrac.ion(XrD)and sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.py(SEm).The films showed c.arac.eristic.peaks of LSm,YSZ(with c.bic.struc.ure)and sec.ndary phases of SrZrO_(3) and La_(2)O_(3).Depending on the synthesis c.nditions,c.ac.-free,homogeneous and well adhered films were obtained,with thic.ness of 11-24μm.

Gentiana kurroo, a potent bitter drug plant of Indian subc.n- tinent, is under threat due to over exploitation and destruc.ion of natural habitat. We studied the m.rphophenology and c.romosomes of G. kurtoo on both wild and field grown plants, whic. is very important for proper identific.tion, c.nservation and domestic.tion. results reveal that G. kurroo is a perennial herb, and its shoot is represented by flowering branc.es only. Stem is modified to rhizome. The older rhizomes split into four parts at c.llar region appearing to fuse together at the ends and is an important diagnostic.feature for c.ude raw materials. Two types of leaves i.e. radic.l leaves at the base of the plant and c.nline leaves on flowering shoot are present. Flowering oc.urs during September to Oc.ober with 1-9 infloresc.nc.s per plant. Infloresc.nc. is terminal monoc.- sial c.some type. mowers are protrandus. Anthesis starts around 7.30 am and c.ntinued till 10.0 am. Ovary is bic.rpillary sync.rpous uniloc.lar. Fruit is c.psule and takes 18-20 days to mature after fertilization. Seeds are very small elliptic.l and 1 000 seeds weigh to 0.1275 g. c.romosomal studies made by usual squash method reveals the spec.es is a genomic.allotetreploid with n = 13. The anaphase-I segregation was normal and in none of the c.lls at Anaphase-I or Telophase-I c.uld any abnor- mality like laggards, bridges, mic.onuc.ei etc. be observed.

OBJEc.IVE The objec.ive was to study the relationship between the tum.r fac.or of c.nc.r mATLT and the c.talytic.subunit of telom.rase. The func.ion of telom.rase in the bloc.ade of c.ll differentiation and in the protec.ion of DNA mT resembles c.osely the func.ion of the tum.r fac.or of c.nc.r mATKw. Bec.use of this c.ose similarity we made an attempt to examine the possibility that the tum.r fac.or of mATKT might be the c.talytic.subunit of telom.rase. mETHODS We used purified mAT isozymes, telom.rase antibody, immunoprec.pitation, and a selec.ive inhibitor of the tum.r fac.or of mATLT from urine to study the relationship between the tum.r fac.or of mATLT and telom.rase. rESULTS We were able to show that the tum.r mATc., but not the liver mATL, was selec.ively inhibited by the telom.rase antibody, and the tum.r mATLT, but not the liver mATL, was preferentially immunoprec.pitated with the telom.rase antibody. The c.talytic.subunit of telom.rase was detec.able in the tum.r mATLT preparation by immunoblotting, but was undetec.able in the liver mATc.preparation and the tum.r mATc.preparation stripped off of the tum.r fac.or. In addition, PP-0.39, whic. is an effec.ive differentiation induc.r purified from urine previously found to selec.ively antagonize the tum.r fac.or of mATLT, was found in this study to be a potent inhibitor of telom.rase. The inhibition of telom.rase by PP-0.39 was far m.re sensitive than the elimination of the tum.r fac.or from mATLT. c.Nc.USION All results are c.nsistent with the hypothesis that the tum.r fac.or of mATLT is the c.talytic.subunit of telom.rase. Thus, the bloc.ade of c.ll differentiation by telom.rase is mediated through its interac.ion with mAT to affec. methylation enzymes, so that hypomethylation of nuc.eic.ac.ds nec.ssary for the c.ll to undergo differentiation c.nnot take plac..

Shrinkage of magnetosphere observed by Tc.1 satellite during the high-speed solar wind stream

During the interval 06:14―07:30 UT on August 24, 2005, sinc. the Earth’s magneto- pause was suddenly c.m.ressed by the persistent high-speed solar wind stream with the southward c.mponent of the interplanetary magnetic.field (ImF), the magnetopause moved inward for about 3.1 rE. meanwhile, Tc.1 satellite shifted from northern plasma sheet to the northern lobe/mantle region, although it kept inward flying during the interval 06:00―07:30UT. The shift of Tc.1 from the plasma sheet to the lobe/mantle is c.used by the simultaneous inward displac.ments of the plasma sheet and near-Earth lobe/mantle region, and their inward movement veloc.ty is larger than the inward motion veloc.ty of Tc.1. The joint inward dis-plac.ments of the magnetopause, the lobe/mantle region and the plasma sheet indic.te that the whole magnetosphere shrinks inward due to the magnetospheric.c.m.ression by the high-speed solar wind stream, and the magnetospheric.ions are attac.ed to the magnetic.field lines (i.e. ‘frozen’ in magnetic.field) and move inward in the shrinking proc.ss of magnetosphere. The large shrinkage of magne-tosphere indic.tes that the near-Earth magnetotail c.m.ression c.used by the strong solar wind dynamic.pressure is muc. larger than its thic.ening c.used by the southward c.mponent of the ImF, and the loc.tions of magnetospheric.regions with different plasmas vary rem.rkably with the variation of the solar wind dynamic.pressure.

An event of c.uster-Double Star c.njunc.ion observations of magnetic.rec.nnec.tion at high latitude magnetopause nightside of both c.sps and solar wind trans-port into magnetosphere c.used by suc. rec.nnec.ion proc.ss has been investi-gated. During northward ImF, c.uster/Sc. observed ac.elerated flows and ion heating assoc.ated with magnetic.rec.nnec.ion at high latitude magnetopause nightside of southern c.sp. And Double Star observed c.ld dense solar wind plasma transported into dayside magnetosphere. The analysis on suc. c.njunc.ion observations shows that: (1) during northward ImF, magnetic.rec.nnec.ion oc.urs at high latitude nightside of southern c.sp, ac.ompanied by ac.elerated flows that are observed by c.uster/Sc.; (2) the direc.ion of the ac.elerated flows, with its sunward c.mponent Vx, dawnward c.mponent Vy, northward c.mponent Vz, is quite c.nsistent with the theoretic.l antic.pation under the c.ndition of northward ImF with dawnward c.mponent By; (3) rec.nnec.ion c.n heat plasma m.re in par-allel direc.ion than in perpendic.lar direc.ion, to a level of about 4 keV; (4) with rec.nnec.ion taking plac. at high latitude magnetopause nightside of the southern c.sp, Tc.1 observed c.ld and dense plasma transported into magnetosphere; (5) by rec.nnec.ion at high latitude magnetopause nightside of both c.sps, solar wind flux tube c.n be c.ptured by magnetosphere and pulled into dayside magneto-sphere. This event presents further observational evidenc. for magnetic.rec.nnec.tion at high latitude magnetopause nightside of both c.sps as an important mec.-anism of sol-ar w-ind transport into magnetosphere.
