Brain organoids mimic closely the embryonic human brain:Over the last decade,the development of human organoid systems has evolved rapidly.Different tissues have been modeled with organoids,such as the gut,lung,liver,kidney retina and brain.These systems have a high cellular heterogeneity,with many cell types integrated into the same system.Organoids'cellular populations interact between and amongst each other in a cellular and molecular level,which represents an advantage with respects to monolayer 2D cell culture systems.

Objective:The dopaminergic nigrostriatal neurons(DA cells)in healthy people present a slow degeneration with aging,which produces cellular debris throughout life.About 2%-5%of people present rapid cell degeneration of more than 50%of DA cells,which produces Parkinson's disease(PD).Neuroinflammation accelerates the cell degeneration and may be critical for the transition between the slow physiological and the rapid pathological degeneration of DA cells,particularly when it activates microglial cells of the medial forebrain bundle near dopaminergic axons.As synaptic debris produced by DA cell degeneration may trigger the parkinsonian neuroinflammation,this study investigated the removal of axonal debris produced by retrograde degeneration of DA cells,paying particular attention to the relative roles of astrocytes and microglia.methods:Rats and mice were injected in the lateral ventricles with 6-hydroxydopamine,inducing a degeneration of dopaminergic synapses in the striatum which was not accompanied by non-selective tissue damage,microgliosis or neuroinflammation.The possible retrograde degeneration of dopaminergic axons,and the production and metabolization of DA-cell debris were studied with immunohistochemical methods and analyzed in confocal and electron microscopy images.Results:The selective degeneration of dopaminergic synapses in the striatum was followed by a retrograde degeneration of dopaminergic axons whose debris was found within spheroids of the medial forebrain bundle.These spheroids retained mitochondria and most(e.g.,tyrosine hydroxylase,the dopamine transporter protein,and amyloid precursor protein)but not all(e.g.,α-synuclein)proteins of the degenerating dopaminergic axons.Spheroids showed initial(autophagosomes)but not late(lysosomes)components of autophagy(incomplete autophagy).These spheroids were penetrated by astrocytic processes of the medial forebrain bundle,which provided the lysosomes needed to continue the degradation of dopaminergic debris.Finally,dopaminergic proteins were observed in

A self-powered skin patch for the measurement of sweat conductivity is presented.The key component of the patch consists of a paper battery that is activated upon absorption of sweat.This body fluid acts as the battery electrolyte,the conductivity of which has a direct impact on the battery-generated output power and voltage.This particular behaviour enables the operation of a very simple and robust conductivity sensor in direct current mode without needing an external power source.The device presented in this paper takes advantage of this new measurement method to develop a sweat patch for screening cystic fibrosis that operates with an extremely simple electronic circuit that minimizes its cost and environmental impact.The patch provides an unambiguous digital result that can be read in an electrochromic display and yields 95%sensitivity and 100%specificity when tested with artificial eccrine perspiration samples.

＜正＞ The paper presents a high-current switched driver for gradients coils used in magnetic resonance imaging. The proposed solution driver consists of two 10W, 30A amplifiers in parallel. The successful parallel operation of these drivers requires good current sharing during steady state, as well as transients. In addition, mRI system performance requires a bandwidth no less than that of each single driver, and no loss of voltage to drive the gradient coil. To ensure good current sharing only by control means results in an amplifier with unacceptable transient response, either too slow, or with oscillations. A coupled inductor at the output of the amplifiers is the preferred option. The coupled inductor offers the additional option of operating the two amplifiers out-of-phase to reduce the output current ripple with minimal impact on the inductor size. The paper presents the analysis and simulations for all the options, and the design of the coupled inductor for the selected solution. The experimental results in a system prototype confirm the design selection and show the system performance at high currents.
