Antifouling evaluation of extracts from Red Sea soft corals against primary biofilm and biofouling

Objectives: To evaluate antifouling property of extracts from Red Sea soft corals against primary biofilm and ***: Seven species of soft corals Sarcophyton glaucum(a), Sinularia compressa,Sinularia cruciata(a), Heteroxenia fuscescens(a), Sarcophyton glaucum(b), Heteroxenia fuscescens(b) and Sinularia cruciata(b) were chosen to test their extracts as antibacterial and antifouling agents in Eastern Harbour of Alexandria, mediterranean *** compounds of soft corals were extracted by using methanol and concentrated under vacuum. The residues of extracts were mixed in formulation of inert paint which consisted of rosin, chlorinated rubber and ferrous oxide against micro and macro fouling organisms. The formulated paints were then applied on PVC panels twice by brush,hanged in a steel frame and immersed in Eastern Harbour of Alexandria mediterranean Sea followed by visual inspection and photographic ***: After 185 days of immersion in seawater, the antifouling results agreed with the antibacterial results where extracts of Sinularia compressa and Heteroxenia fuscescens(b) gave the best activity against marine fouling tubeworms and barnacles. The inhibition activity was correlated with the major functional groups(hydroxyl, amino, carbonyl,aliphatic(fatty acids), C]C of alkene or aromatic rings and CeC l of aryl halides) of the ***: The strong antifouling activity makes them promising candidates for new antifouling additives. After the screening and application of natural organic compounds from soft corals, marine organisms show activity against micro and macro fouling organisms.

Flavonoid chemical composition and antidiabetic potential of Brachychiton acerifolius leaves extract

Objective:To evaluate Brachychiton acerifolius leaf extracts as antidiabetic potential agent and to identify the main active constituents using bioactivity guided ***:In vitro antioxidant activity was evaluated for *** different extracts using DPPH assay and vitamin C as *** activity was then determined using STZ-induced rats treated daily with ethyl acetate and 70% ethanol leaf extracts for4 weeks at a dose of 200 g/kg body weight against gliclazide reference *** glucose,a-amylase,lipid profile,liver function enzymes and oxidative stress markers were assessed along with histopathological study for liver and pancreatic *** and structural elucidation of active compounds were made using Diaion and Sephadex followed by spectral ***:The results indicated that ethyl acetate and ethanol leaf extracts exhibited the strongest antioxidant activity compared to that of vitamin C(IC500.05,0.03 and 12 mg/m l,respectively).Both extracts showed potent anti-hyperglycemic activity evidenced by a significant decrease in serum glucose levels by 82.5% and 80.9% and a-amylase by45.2% and 53.6%,as compared with gliclazide 68% and 59.4%,*** of ethanol extract resulted in the isolation of 9 flavonoids including apigenin-7-O-arhamnosyl(1/2)-b-D-glucuronide,apigenin-7-O-b-D-glucuronide,apigenin-7-O-b-Dglucoside and ***:This study highlights the potential use of *** leaf extract enriched in flavones for the treatment of diabetes that would warrant further clinical trials investigation.

In this paper,we study the pseudo-spherical evolutes of curves in three dimensional hyperbolic *** use techniques from singularity theory to investigate the singularities of pseudo-spherical evolutes and establish some relationships between singularities of these curves and geometric invariants of curves under the action of the lorentz ***,we defray with illustration some computational examples in support our main results.

On Special Curves According to Darboux Frame in the Three Dimensional lorentz Space

In the light of great importance of curves and their frames in many differentbranches of science, especially differential geometry as well as geometric properties andthe uses in various fields, we are interested here to study a special kind of curves calledSmarandache curves in lorentz 3-space. Then, we present some characterizations for thesecurves and calculate their Darboux invariants. moreover, we classify TP, TU, PU andTPU-Smarandache curves of a spacelike curve according to the causal character of thevector, curve and surface used in the study. Besides, we give some of differential geometricproperties and important relations between that curves. Finally, to demonstrate ourtheoretical results a computational example is given with graph.

Utilization of iron oxide bearing pellets waste for preparing hard and soft ferromagnetic glass ceramics

About 8%of the imported iron oxide pellets burdens to Egypt are *** this paper,broken pellets waste(BPW)is used as raw material for the preparation of hard magnetic glass ceramics(HmGC)as well as soft magnetic glass ceramics(SmGC).About 54 wt%and 37 wt%of BPW are used to prepare SmGC and HmGC,*** thermal analysis(DTA)reveals two broad exothermic peaks for HmGC at 591℃and 697℃,whereas one exothermic peak at 820℃is detected for SmGC.X-ray diffraction(XRD)shows the crystallization of hematite as the sol phase in BPW,and meanwhile,Zn-ferrite and Ba-hexaferrite are identified in SmGC and HmGC,*** electron microscopy(TEm)reveals the crystallization of nanosize particles of~20 nm for SmGC and~12 nm for *** scanning magnetometer(VSm)reveals an increase in saturation magnetization from~1 emu/g for BPW to~77 emu/g for SmGC and 21 emu/g for HmGC.

Impact of different nano additives on performance, combustion, emissions and exergetic analysis of a diesel engine using waste cooking oil biodiesel

Biodiesel is derived from waste cooking oil (WCO) by transesterification. methylester was prepared by mixing diesel and biodiesel oils as 20% by volume. nano particles asTiO2, Al2O3 and CnTs were blended with biodiesel blend at different concentrations of 25,50, and 100 mg/l to enhance the physicochemical fuel characteristics to obtain clean and effi-cient combustion performance. An experimental setup was incorporated into a diesel engine toinvestigate the influence of these nano-materials on engine performance, exergy analysis, combustion characteristics and emissions using WCO biodiesel-diesel mixture. Enriching methylester mixture with 100 ppm titanium, alumina and CnTs (B20T100, B20A100 andB20C100) increased the thermal efficiency by 4%, 6% and 11.5%, respectively compared toB20. Biodiesel blending with nano additives B20T100, B20A100 and B20C100 decreasedthe emissions of CO (11%, 24% and 30%, respectively), HC (8%, 17% and 25%, respectively)and smoke (10%, 13% and 19%, respectively) compared to B20. However, the noticeable increase of nOx was estimated by 5%, 12% and 27% for B20T100, B20A100 and B20C100,respectively. Finally, the results showed the rise in peak cylinder pressure by 5%, 9% and 11% and increase in heat release rate by 4%, 8% and 13% for B20T100, B20A100 andB20C100, respectively. The fuel exergy of B20T100, B20A100 and B20C100 are lower thanbiodiesel blend B20 by 6.5%, 16% and 23% but the exergetic efficiency are increased by 7%,19% and 30% at full load about B20.

Performance,emissions and exergy analyses of adding CnTs to various biodiesel feedstocks

Extraction of biodiesel from waste cooking oil,jatropha,and corn oils is done by *** and biodiesel were blended at 20%volume ratio to make methyl *** doses of 25,50,and 100 mg/l,carbon nanotubes(CnTs)was mixed with biodiesel *** objective of the present research is to examine experimentally a diesel engine performance,combustion characteristics,exergy and emissions analyses with inclusion of nano additive to various methyl ester *** ester blend is enriched with CnTs as JB20C100,WB20C100 and CB20C100 where the improvements in thermal efficiency are raised about biodiesel mixture by 9%,13%and 15%,*** of 100 ppm of CnTs to biodiesel blends achieves the greatest reductions in CO(14%,22%and 30%),HC(16%,20%and 25%),and smoke emissions(15%,19%and 23%)for JB20C100,WB20C100 and CB20C100,*** comparing with B20,blending 100 ppm CnTs with JB20,CB20,and WB20 obtained the highest increases in cylinder pressure of 3%,5%,and 10%,as well as the highest increases in heat release of 4%,7%,and 11%,*** downside of CnTs addition achieves a rise in nOx emissions by 10%,17%,and 22%for JB20C100,WB20C100,and CB20C100,*** efficiency increases by 8%,19%,and 24%for B20T100,B20A100,and B20C100,*** index improvements achieve 1.5%,5%and 6.5%,for B20T100,B20A100,and B20C100,***20 with CnTs of 100 ppm is highly recommended for improving engine performance,combustion,and exergy characteristics with considerable emissions reduction.

Chilling is one of the major abiotic stresses for plants,especially for rice *** essential metabolic processes for growth and development are *** that case,reducing the negative effects of cold stress using exogenous chemicals is a possible ***,the current study examined the effects of pre-sowing seed treatment with different chemicals,*** peroxide(H_(2)O_(2)),salicylic acid(SA),calcium chloride(CaCl_(2)),thiourea(TU),and citric acid(CA)on the germination of rice seeds(*** dhan28)under chilling *** seeds were soaked in distilled water(control),10 mm CA,2 mm SA,10 mm CaCl_(2),10 mm H_(2)O_(2),and 10 mm TU solutions for 24 *** that,seeds were exposed to chilling stress by incubating at 4±1℃ for 8 h,followed by at 25±2℃ for 16 h for 7 *** to chilling stress signiﬁcantly reduced theﬁnal germination percent(13.6%),germination rate index(36.0%),coefﬁcient of the velocity(25.0%),shoot fresh weight(44.4%),and root fresh weight(60.5%).moreover,chilling induced oxidative damage and reduced the activity of antioxidant enzymes(catalase and ascorbate peroxidase).In contrast,treatments with H_(2)O_(2),SA,CaCl_(2),TU,and CA considerably enhanced germination indices and seedling growth compared to chilling stress *** study showed that priming with H_(2)O_(2),SA,CaCl_(2),TU,and CA signiﬁcantly boosted antioxidant enzyme activities and reduced mDA and H_(2)O_(2) contents in chilling-stressed rice plants,indicating less oxidative stress and improved *** component analysis showed that among these priming agents,H_(2)O_(2),SA,and CA are most effective in chilling stress ***,using seed-treating chemicals to combat the effect of chilling stress can help rice seedlings grow better in the winter season.

Appraisal of Improvement in Physiological and metabolic Processes by Exogenously Applied natural and Synthetic Ascorbic Acid in Okra(Abelmoschus esculentus l.)Fruit Subjected to Water Deficit Stress

To counteract the effects of drought stress,scientists have adopted several approaches including the use of different chemicals both inorganic and organic,which is contemplated as a highly efficient and cost-effective shot-gun *** acid(AsA)is a potential organic substance,which widely occurs in plants,and is considered to be an effective antioxidant to counteract reactive oxygen species(ROS).Thus,a pot experiment was performed to assess the relative mitigating impacts of synthetic AsA and naturally occurring AsA in the form of lemon juice(lJ)and orange juice(OJ)on two cultivars of okra(Abelmoschus esculentus l.)namely Sabz Pari and Bhindi Sanwali under varying water deficit *** 30 days of seed germination,okra seedlings were subjected to different irrigation regimes,i.e.,water deficit stress[(65%and 50%F.C.)and control conditions(100%F.C.)].Different levels of AsA[control(no spray),14 mg l^(−1)lJ,24 mg l^(−1)OJ and 150 mg l^(−1)AsA]obtained from different sources were applied as a foliar spray to control and water-stressed *** stress prominently reduced plant growth and yield attributes of the okra ***-deficit conditions(65%and 50%F.C.)substantially decreased the fruit chlorophyll(a,b)pigments and the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD)enzyme,while an increase was observed in the contents of fruit’s hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2)),malondialdehyde(mDA),total phenolics,total soluble sugars,AsA,and total soluble *** stress also increased the activities of antioxidant enzymes like peroxidase(POD)and catalase(CAT).However,plant growth and yield attributes,fruit chlorophyll pigments,total phenolics,total soluble sugars,total free amino acids,total soluble proteins,AsA,GB,H_(2)O_(2),and the activities of antioxidant enzymes(POD and CAT)were increased by the AsA exogenous treatment in both okra cultivars under water deficit and control ***,lJ and OJ were more effective than the synthetic AsA in up
