background and purpose Recent reports from our laboratory demonstrated the post-ischaemic expression profile of various matrix metalloproteinases(mmPs)in rats and the detrimental role of mmP-12 in post-stroke brain *** hypothesise that the post-stroke dysregulation of mmPs is similar across species and that genetic deletion of mmP-12 would not affect the post-stroke expression of other *** tested our hypothesis by determining the pre-ischaemic and post-ischaemic expression profile of mmPs in wild-type and mmP-12 knockout *** Focal cerebral ischaemia was induced in wildtype and mmP-12 knockout mice by middle cerebral artery occlusion procedure by insertion of a monofilament *** hour after ischaemia,reperfusion was initiated by removing the *** day after reperfusion,ischaemic brain tissues from various groups of mice were collected,and total RNA was isolated and subjected to cDNA synthesis followed by PCR *** Although the post-stroke expression profile of mmPs in the ischaemic brain of mice is different from rats,there is a clear species similarity in the expression of mmP-12,which was found to be predominantly upregulated in both ***,the post-stroke induction or inhibition of various mmPs in mmP-12 knockout mice is different from their respective expression profile in wild-type ***,the brain mRNA expression profile of various mmPs in mmP-12 knockout mice under normal conditions is also different to their expression in wild-type *** In the ischaemic brain,mmP-12 upregulates several fold higher than any other *** derived with the genetic deletion of mmP-12 are constitutive and have altered mmP expression profile both under normal and ischaemic conditions.

Trends and outcomes of transarterial chemoembolization in hepatocellular carcinoma:a national survey

BACKGROUND:Transarterial chemoembolization(TACE) is a palliative procedure frequently used in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). We examined the national inpatient trends of TACE and related outcomes in the United States over the last ***:We utilized the National Inpatient Sample(2002 to 2012) and performed trend analyses of TACE for HCC in all adult patients(age >18 years). multivariate analyses for the outcomes of in-hospital "procedure-related complications"(PRCs) and "post-procedure complications"(PPCs) were performed. We also compared early(2002 to 2006) and late(2007 to 2012) eras by multivariate analyses to identify predictors of complications, healthcare resource utilization and ***:Overall, 19058 patients underwent TACE for HCC where PRCs and PPCs were seen in 24.2% and 17.6% of patients, respectively. The overall trends in the use of TACE(Pmortality [adjusted Odds ratio(a OR):0.58; 95% CI:0.41, 0.82], reduced length of hospital stay(-1.87 days; 95% CI:-2.77,-0.97) and increased hospital charges($19232; 95% CI:11013, 27451) in the late era. Additionally, there was increased mortality(a OR:4.07; 95% CI:2.96, 5.59), PRCs(a OR:3.21; 95% CI:2.56, 4.02), and PPCs(a OR:2.70; 95% CI:2.11, 3.46) among patients with ***:There is an increasing trend of TACE utilization in HCC. However, the outcomes are worse in patients with coagulopathy. Although PRCs have increased, mortality has decreased in recent years. These findings should be considered during TACE evaluation in patients with HCC.

Enhanced saturation magnetization in La^(3+) doped NiCo ferrites prepared by sol-gel auto-combustion method

Lanthanum doped nickel-cobalt nano ferrites with chemical formula Ni_(0.5)Co_(0.5)LaxFe_(2-x)O_(4)(x=0.05,0,10,0.15 and 0,20) were prepared using a simple sol-gel auto combustion *** basic structural properties were determined by X-ray diffraction method and the formation of single phased spinel ferrite was *** crystalline size decreased from 25 to 11 nm and lattice parameter a increases with increase of La *** surface morphology of these ferrites was observed by field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEm) and agglomerated irregular grains are observed with increase of the rare earth element La ***-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX) result confirms the presence of the required *** Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) spectrum indicates the formation of the spinel ferrite structure with m-O *** direct band measurements from ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy(UV-Vis) spectroscopy indicate that the direct band gap decreases from 1.39 to 1.19 eV for x=0.05 to x=0.15,then increases to 1.28 eV for x=*** room temperature magnetic properties of these ferrites were studied by a vibrating sample magnetometer(VSm).The enhanced saturation magnetization of 49.73 emu/g is observed for x=0.10 and then saturation magnetizations are gradually decreased for x=0.15 and x=*** the remanent magnetization and coercivity also follow the same trend.

Synthesis and characterization of AlCoCrCuFeZnx high-entropy alloy by mechanical alloying

Equi-atomic and non equi-atomic multi-component systems were synthesized through different routes to form high-entropy single solid solution. One such high-entropy alloy（HEA） with hexanary composition AlCoCrCuFeZnxwas synthesized using mechanical alloying. The effect of zinc variation on the crystal structure and phase formation was characterized using XRD, FESEm with EDS and TEm. The synthesis resulted in both equi-atomic and non equi-atomic nano crystalline AlCoCrCuFeZn with a crystallite size less than 10 nm.

RAmAN SPECTROSCOPIC STUDY ON PREDICTION OF TREATmENT RESPONSE IN CERVICAL CANCERS

Concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT)is the choice of treatment for locally adv anced cervical cancers;however,tumors exhibit diverse response to *** prediction of tumor response leads to individualizing treatment *** evaluation criteria in solid tumors(RECIST),the current modality of tumor response assessment,is often subject ive and carried out at the first visit after treatment,which is about four ***,there is a need for better predictive tool for *** spectroscopic techniques,sensitive to molecular alteration,are being pursued as potential diagnostic *** pilot study ains to explore the fiber-optic-based Raman spectroscopy approach in prediction of tumor response to CCRT,before taking up extensive in vivo *** vivo Raman spectra were acquired from biopsies collected from 11 normal(148 spectra),16 tumor(201 spectra)and 13 complete response(151 CR spectra),one partial response(8 PR spectra)and one nonresponder(8 NR spectra)*** was analyzed using principal component linear discriminant analysis(PC-LDA)followed by leave-one-out cross-validation(LOO-CV).Findings suggest that normal tissues can be efficiently classified from both pre-and post-treated tumor biopsies,while there is an overlap between pre-and post-CCRT tumor *** of CR,PR and NR tissues were subjected to principal component analysis(PCA)and a tendency of classification was observed,corroborating previous ***,this study further supports the feasibility of Raman spectroscopy in prediction of tumor radioresponse and prospective noninvasive in vivo applications.

Changes in regeneration and leaf traits of Rhododendron campanulatum along a treeline ecotone in central Nepal

Changes in population structure and plant functional traits across environmental gradient in the near natural treeline is a critical determinant of environmental changes in treelines. In this study we analyzed population characteristics and leaf traits of Rhododendron campanulatum across treeline ecotone in a trans-Himalayan region of mustang district in central Nepal. Along 4 vertical transects, a total of 72 quadrats(5 m × 5 m)-34 above Betula utilis treeline and 38 below treeline-were sampled to analyze the population structure, regeneration,specific leaf area(SLA) and leaf-stem relationship of R. campanulatum. Our results showed that the regeneration of R. campanulatum was fairly good in both habitats, as evident from density-diameter *** species showed type Ⅲ survivorship curve in both habitats with the highest mortality during early stage of life. However, the seedling density and mortality was higher below treeline than above treeline. Canopy cover and basal cover were found to be the major factors affecting regeneration, as indicated by higher number of juveniles in relatively open areas above treeline. The total leaf area increased(p m cross-section area in both habitats. However, the SLA was higher below treeline(55 cm^2/g) than above(47 cm^2/g)(p mortality of seedlings,and low SLA above treeline indicated that the species has successfully adapted in climatically stressful alpine habitat with potential to expand upward.

A Fifth Order Alternative mapped WENO Scheme for Nonlinear Hyperbolic Conservation Laws

In this work,we have developed a fifth-order alternative mapped weighted essentially nonoscillatory(AWENO-m)finite volume scheme using non-linear weights of mapped WENO reconstruction scheme of Henrick et al.(***.,207(2005),pp.542-567)for solving hyperbolic conservation *** reconstruction of numerical flux is done using primitive variables instead of conservative *** present scheme results in less spurious oscillations near discontinuities and shows higher-order accuracy at critical points compared to the alternative WENO scheme(AWENO)based on traditional non-linear weights of Jiang and Shu(***.,228(1996),pp.202-228).The third-order Runge-Kutta method has been used for solution advancement in *** Harten-Lax-van Leer-Contact(HLLC)shock-capturing method is used to provide necessary upwinding into the *** performance of the present scheme is evaluated in terms of accuracy,computational cost,and resolution of discontinuities by using various one and two-dimensional test cases.

Pyrolysis characteristics and kinetics of Indian low rank coal using thermogravimetric analysis

The present research work deals wilh the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and kinetic analysis of three typical Indian low rank coals selected from Indian coal mines at various temperature ranges. Experiments were performed at four differerH heating rate (50, 100,150, 200 K/min) for three typical Indian low rank coal samples in a nitrogen atmosphere from temperature range 30-950 °C. The peak of temperature and mass loss for Indian low rank coal were evaluated. Current study also deals for the utilization and the behaviour of Indian low rank coal during the pyrolysis by using TGA. The activation energy for Indian low rank coal were calculated based on TGA data by using Friedman method. Corresponding calculated mean value of activation energy for Indian low rank coal is found 49.132 kJ/mol. These experimental results help to explain and predict the behaviour of Indian low rank coal in practical applications.

Order of FIB updates seldom matters:Fast reroute and fast convergence with interface‐specific forwarding

During convergence,after a link state change in traditional networks with a distributed control plane,packets may get caught in transient forwarding *** loops can be avoided by imposing a certain order among the routers in updating their forwarding information bases(FIBs),but it requires some form of coordination among *** an alternative,a progressive link metric increment method has been proposed for loop-free forwarding without ordered FIB updates,but it takes longer to converge to the target *** this paper,we show that the order of updates rarely matters for loop-free convergence when the failure inference-based fast reroute(FIFR)scheme with interface-specific forwarding is employed for dealing with link *** key insight is to have each router install the traditional interface-independent forwarding entries as soon as they are recomputed during convergence and install the recomputed interface-specific backwarding entries *** evaluation of 280 real and random topologies confirms that the order of updates does not matter with the proposed approach for 17336 out of 17339 links in those *** handle such rare cases where the order matters,it can be coupled with progressive link metric increments to ensure loop-freedom with unordered FIB ***,the proposed approach,referred to as FIFR++,makes it possible to achieve disruption-free fast convergence and fast reroute without requiring any modification to the IP datagram and without needing any coordination between routers.
