PAN-DeSpeck:A Lightweight Pyramid and Attention-Based Network for SAR Image Despeckling

SAR images commonly suffer fromspeckle noise,posing a significant challenge in their analysis and *** convolutional neural network(CNN)based despeckling methods have shown great performance in removing speckle ***,these CNN-basedmethods have a *** do not decouple complex background information in ***,they have deep network structures thatmay result in many parameters,limiting their applicability tomobile ***,extracting key speckle information in the presence of complex background is also a major problem with *** proposed study addresses these limitations by introducing a lightweight pyramid and attention-based despeckling(PAN-Despeck)*** primary objective is to enhance image quality and enable improved information interpretation,particularly on mobile devices and scenarios involving complex *** PAN-Despeck network leverages domainspecific knowledge and integrates Gaussian Laplacian image pyramid decomposition for multi-resolution image *** utilizing this approach,complex background information can be effectively decoupled,leading to enhanced despeckling ***,the attention mechanism selectively focuses on key speckle features and facilitates complex background *** network incorporates recursive and residual blocks to ensure computational efficiency and accelerate training speed,making it lightweight while maintaining high *** comprehensive evaluations,it is demonstrated that PAN-Despeck outperforms existing image restoration *** an impressive average peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR)of 28.355114 and a remarkable structural similarity index(SSIm)of 0.905467,it demonstrates exceptional performance in effectively reducing speckle noise in SAR *** source code for the PAN-DeSpeck network is available on GitHub.

The diagnosis of multiple sclerosis(mS)is based on accurate detection of lesions on magnetic resonance imaging(mRI)which also provides ongoing essential information about the progression and status of the *** detection of lesions is very time consuming and lacks *** of the lesions are difficult to detect manually,especially within the grey *** paper proposes a novel and fully automated convolution neural network(CNN)approach to segment *** proposed system consists of two 2D patchwise CNNs which can segment lesions more accurately and *** first CNN network is implemented to segment lesions accurately,and the second network aims to reduce the false positives to increase *** system consists of two parallel convolutional pathways,where one pathway is concatenated to the second and at the end,the fully connected layer is replaced with *** routine mRI sequences T1-w,T2-w and FLAIR are used as input to the CNN,where FLAIR is used for segmentation because most lesions on mRI appear as bright regions and T1-w&T2-w are used to reduce mRI *** evaluated the proposed system on two challenge datasets that are publicly available from mICCAI and *** and qualitative evaluation has been performed with various metrics like false positive rate(FPR),true positive rate(TPR)and dice similarities,and were compared to current state-of-the-art *** proposed method shows consistent higher precision and sensitivity than other *** proposed method can accurately and robustly segment mS lesions from images produced by different mRI scanners,with a precision up to 90%.

Thermal energy storage(TES) systems use solar energy despite its irregular availability and day-night temperature *** work reports the thermal characterizations of solar salt-based phase change composites in the presence of graphene nanoplatelets(GNP).Solar salt(60:40 of NaNO_(3):KNO_(3)) possessing phase transition temperature and melting enthalpy of 221.01℃ and 134.58 kJ/kg is proposed as a phase change material(PCm) for high-temperature solar-based energy storage *** conductivity must be improved to make them suitable for widespread applications and to close the gap between the system needs where they are *** is added at weight concentrations of 0.1%,0.3%,and 0.5% with solar salt using the ball milling method to boost its thermal *** studies indicated the formation of a uniform surface of GNP on solar *** spectrum peaks identified the physical interaction between salt and *** characterization of the composites,such as thermal conductivity,DSC and TGA was carried out for the samples earlier and later 300 thermal cycles.0.5% of GNP has improved the thermal conductivity of salt by 129.67% and after thermal cycling,the enhancement reduced to 125.21% indicating that thermal cycling has a minor impact on thermal *** change temperature decreased by around 2.32% in the presence of0.5% GNP and the latent heat reduced by 4.34% after thermal *** thermograms depicted the composites initiated the weight loss at around 550℃ after which it was *** thermal cycling,the weight loss initiated at ~40℃ lower compared to pure salt,which was found to be a minor *** characterization of solar salt and GNP-based solar salt composites revealed that the composites can be used for enhanced heat transfer in high-temperature solar-based heat transfer and energy storage applications.

Optimization of deep network models through fine tuning

Numerical Investigation Thermal Performance of Solar Air Heater Using Different Angle V-Grooved of Corrugated Absorber Plate

Solar energy,a renewable resource,can be harnessed instead of fossil fuels to generate power and *** effective method for converting solar energy into heat is through a solar air heating(SAH)*** theoretical investigation focused on the thermal performance of various V-groove angles on a corrugated absorber *** researchers maintained the exterior dimensions and constraints of the absorber plate while increasing its surface area by using a corrugated absorber *** the simulation,three different V-groove angles were employed:45°,30°,and 15°.The temperature and air flow rate into the system had been set at 30℃ and 0.15 m/s,respectively four various solar radiation intensities have been examined for each of the *** governing equations associated with the standard design,including the turbulent kinetic energy(k)and dissipation rates model(ε),were solved using the ANSYS 2020 R2 *** results indicated that Utilizing corrugated absorber plates resulted in a rise in the Nusselt number.,surpassing the performance of flat plate *** the different configurations,the V-grooved 45°plate demonstrated the best results under the same ***,it was observed that the efficiency values improved with increasing solar *** investigation also showed that the employing of V-grooved 45°,V-grooved 30°,and V-grooved 15°absorbers led to efficiency improvements of about 20.8%,26.3%,and 36.14%,respectively,when compared to a flat plate at a solar irradiation of 900 W/m2.

Structural, electronic, and optical properties of ZnO_(1-x)Se_x alloys using first-principles calculations

The structural, electronic, and optical properties of binary ZnO, ZnSe compounds, and their ternary ZnOl_xSex alloys are computed using the accurate full potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital （FP-LAPW ＋ lo） method in the rocksalt （B 1） and zincblende （B3） crystallographic phases. The electronic band structures, fundamental energy band gaps, and densities of states for ZnO1_xSex are evaluated in the range 0 〈 x 〈 1 using Wu-Cohen （WC） generalized gradient approximation （GGA） for the exchange-correlation potential. Our calculated results of lattice parameters and bulk modulus reveal a nonlinear variation for pseudo-binary and their ternary alloys in both phases and show a considerable deviation from Vegard＇s law. It is observed that the predicted lattice parameter and bulk modulus are in good agreement with the available experimental and theoretical data. We establish that the composition dependence of band gap is semi-metallic in B1 phase, while a direct band gap is observed in B3 phase. The calculated density of states is described by taking into account the contribution of Zn 3d, O 2p, and Se 4s, and the optical properties are studied in terms of dielectric functions, refractive index, reflectivity, and energy loss function for the B3 phase and are compared with the available experimental data.

Acupuncture enhances brain function in patients with mild cognitive impairment: evidence from a functional-near infrared spectroscopy study

mild cognitive impairment(mCI)is a precursor to Alzheimer’s *** is imperative to develop a proper treatment for this neurological disease in the aging *** observational study investigated the effects of acupuncture therapy on mCI *** healthy individuals and eleven mCI patients were recruited for this ***-and deoxy-hemoglobin signals in the prefrontal cortex during working-memory tasks were monitored using functional near-infrared *** acupuncture treatment,working-memory experiments were conducted for healthy control(HC)and mCI groups(mCI-0),followed by 24 sessions of acupuncture for the mCI *** acupuncture sessions were initially carried out for 6 weeks(two sessions per week),after which experiments were performed again on the mCI group(mCI-1).This was followed by another set of acupuncture sessions that also lasted for 6 weeks,after which the experiments were repeated on the mCI group(mCI-2).Statistical analyses of the signals and classifications based on activation maps as well as temporal features were *** highest classification accuracies obtained using binary connectivity maps were 85.7%HC ***-0,69.5%HC ***-1,and 61.69%HC *** classification accuracies using the temporal features mean from 5 seconds to 28 seconds and maximum(i.e,max(5:28 seconds))values were 60.6%HC ***-0,56.9%HC ***-1,and 56.4%HC *** results reveal that there was a change in the temporal characteristics of the hemodynamic response of mCI patients due to *** was reflected by a reduction in the classification accuracy after the therapy,indicating that the patients’brain responses improved and became comparable to those of healthy subjects.A similar trend was reflected in the classification using the image *** results indicate that acupuncture can be used for the treatment of mCI patients.

Animal husbandry is the pillar industry in some ethnic areas of ***,the communication/networking infrastructure in these areas is often underdeveloped,thus the difficulty in centralized management,and challenges for the effective *** the dynamics of the field monitoring environment,as well as the diversity and mobility of monitoring targets,traditional WSN(Wireless Sensor Networks)or IoT(Internet of Things)is difficult to meet the surveillance *** surveillance that features the collaboration of various functions(camera,sensing,image recognition,etc.)deployed on mobile devices is desirable in a volatile wireless *** paper proposes the service function chaining for mobile surveillance of animal husbandry,which orchestrates multi-path multifunction(mPmF)chains to help mobile devices to collaborate in complex surveillance tasks,provide backup chains in case the primary service function chain fails due to mobility,signal strength,obstacle,etc.,and make up for the defects of difficult deployment of monitoring facilities in ethnic *** algorithmmodels both mobile devices and various functions deployed on them as abstract graph nodes,so that chains that are required to traverse various functions and hosting mobile devices can be orchestrated in a single graphbased query through modified and adapted Dijkstra-like algorithms,with their cost ordered *** results show that the proposed mPmF algorithm finds multiple least-costly chains that traverse demanded functions in a timely fashion on Raspberry Pi-equipped mobile devices.
