This study examines the nonlinear behaviors of a clamped-clamped porous pipe made of a functionally graded material(FGm) that conveys fluids and is equipped with a retaining clip, focusing on primary resonance and subcritical dynamics. The nonlinear governing equations for the FGm pipe are derived by the extended Hamilton's principle, and subsequently discretized through the application of the Galerkin *** direct method of multi-scales is then used to solve the derived equations. A thorough analysis of various parameters, including the clip stiffness, the power-law index, the porosity, and the clip location, is conducted to gain a comprehensive understanding of the system.s.nonlinear dynamics. Through the analysis of the first natural frequency, the study highlights the influence of the flow velocity and the clip stiffness, while the comparisons with metallic pipes emphasize the role of FGm composition. The examination of the forced response curves reveals saddle-node bifurcations and their dependence on parameters such as the detuning parameter and the power-law index, offering valuable insights into the system.s.nonlinear resonant behavior. Furthermore, the frequency-response curves illustrate the hardening nonlinearities influenced by factors such as the porosity and the clip stiffness, revealing nuanced effects on the system response and resonance characteristics. This comprehensive analysis enhances the understanding of nonlinear behaviors in FGm porous pipes with a retaining clip, providing key insights for practical engineering applications in system design and optimization.

The main purpose of this paper is to study the collapse capacity of single degree of freedom.s.OF)systems and to produce fragility curves as well as collapse capacity spectra while considering a broad range of structural parameters,including system degradation,the P-Δeffect,ductility capacity and the post-capping stiffness *** modified Ibarra-Krawinkler deterioration model was used to consider hysteretic behavior.A comprehensive study was conducted to extract the collapse capacity spectrum of sDOF systems with a wide range of periods,varying from 0.05 to 4 s,to cover short,intermediate and long *** dynamic analysis(IDA)was performed for sDOF systems to identify the condition in which the collapse capacity of the system is *** IDAs were performed using different sets of seismic ground *** ground motion records were categorized into different sets based on three spectral shape parameters,including the epsilon,saRatio and N_(p).The collapse fragility curves of sDOF systems with different periods were extracted to illustrate the collapse capacity at different probability *** results show that structural degradation and ductility as well as the spectral shape parameters significantly affect the collapse capacity of sDOF *** the other hand,the post-capping stiffness ratio and small levels of the P-Δeffect do not remarkably change collapse ***,the collapse capacity of sDOF systems is more sensitive to the records categorized based on saRatio and N_(p)than those classified based on epsilon.

A first-principles technique capable of describing the nearly excited states of semiconductors and insulators,namely the modified Becke–Johnson(mBJ)potential approximation,is used to investigate the electronic band structure and optical properties of spinel oxides:GeZn_(2)O_(4).The predicted band gaps using the mBJ approximation are significantly more accurate than the proposed previous theoretical work using the common LDA and *** gap dependent optical parameters,like the dielectric constant,index of refraction,reflectivity and optical conductivity are calculated and *** results from the dielectric constant shows that the numerical value of the static dielectric,after dropping constantly,becom.s.less than zero and the material exhibits metallic *** refractive index also drops below unity for photons higher than 18 eV,which indicates that the velocities of incident photons are greater than the velocity of ***,these phenomena can be explained by the fact that a signal m.s. be transmitted as a wave packet rather than a monochromatic *** comprehensive theoretical study of the optoelectronic properties predicts that these materials can effectively be used in optical devices.

Clonal propagation of Bambusa vulgaris by leafy branch cuttings

Bambusa vulgaris schrad ex wendl is a widely cultivated bamboo species in rural Bangladesh for its versatile uses. The vegetative propagation becom.s.the only viable alternative for this species because B. vulgaris does not set seed after sparse flowering, which makes seedling progenies unavailable. A low-cost propagation trial was conducted to explore the clonal propagation techniques for the species with two types of small branch cuttings, nodal leafy cuttings and tip cuttings. The cuttings, after treating with 0, 0.1%, 0.4%, and 0.8% IBA solutions, were kept in non-m.s. propagator to let them to root for assessing the rooting ability. The cuttings were rooted in four weeks and were allowed to grow in the polybags for 10 months under nursery condition to assess their steckling capacity. The study reveals that both types of branch cuttings are able to develop roots, shoots, to survive and to form rhizome under the nursery condition. Rooting ability of the cuttings was significantly enhanced by the application of rooting hormone - IBA. The highest rooting percentage in nodal leafy cuttings and the tip cuttings （56.67% and 51.0%, respectively） were observed in 0.8% IBA treatment, followed by 0.4% IBA and the lowest （34.3% and 30.0%, respectively） was in control. The highest number of root developed per cutting （9.77 and 8.33 in nodal leafy cuttings and the tip cuttings, respectively） was also obtained from the cuttings treated with 0.8% IBA solution, followed 0.4% IBA treatment and the lowest （3.1 and 2.1, respectively） was in the cuttings without treatment. However, the length of the longest root varied significantly neither with the cutting types nor the concentrations of IBA solution. survival percentage of the stecklings in nursery condition was significantly enhanced by IBA.

This work aims to facilitate diagnosing Aspergillus appendicitis, which can be m.s.ed clinically due to its rarity, by proposing a clinical pentad for Aspergillus appendicitis based on literature review and one new case. The currently reported case of pathologicallyproven Aspergillus appendicitis was identified by computerized search of pathology database at William Beaumont Hospital, 1999-2014. Prior cases were identified by computerized literature search. Among 10980 pathology reports of pathologically-proven appendicitis, one case of Aspergillus appendicitis was identified(rate = 0.01%). A young boy with profound neutropenia, recent chemotherapy, and acute myelogenous leukemia presented with right lower quadrant pain, pyrexia, and generalized malaise. Abdominal computed tomography scan showed a thickened appendiceal wall and periappendiceal inflammation, suggesting appendicitis. Emergent laparotomy showed an inflamed, thickened appendix, which was resected. The patient did poorly postoperatively with low-grade-fevers while receiving antibacterial therapy, but rapidly improved after initiating amphotericin therapy. microscopic examination of a silver stain of the appendectomy specimen revealed fungi with characteristic Aspergillus morphology, findings confirmed by immunohistochem.s.ry. Primary Aspergillus appendicitis is exceptionally rare, with only 3 previously reported cases. All three cases presented with(1)-neutropenia,(2)-recent chemotherapy,(3)-acute leukemia, and(4)-suspected appendicitis;(5)-the two prior cases initially treated with antibacterial therapy, fared poorly before instituting antiAspergillus therapy. The current patient satisfied all these five criteria. Based on these four cases, a clinical pentad is proposed for Aspergillus appendicitis: clinically-suspected appendicitis, neutropenia, recent chemotherapy, acute leukemia, and poor clinical response if treated solely by antibacterial/anti-candidial therapy.
