phenolic compounds are related to high biological activity,avoiding oxidation in food and human *** are by-products derived from the pecan nut processing that contain important amounts of phenols which biological activity must be *** research aimed to evaluate the antioxidant(DppH,ABTS,FRAp and hemolysis)and anti-inflammatory activities of shell extracts from pecan nuts harvested during the crop production cycle 2018 and 2019,as well as the in vitro digestibility of their phenolic compounds,including *** showed that extracts from the crop production cycle 2018 obtained the highest yield,while those from 2019 contained the highest concentration of phenolic compounds,flavonoids and antioxidant capacity determined by DppH(22.96 mmol ET),ABTS(91.55 mmol ET)and inhibition of hemolysis(92.12%).The anti-inflammatory activity exhibited an inhibition of the elastase enzyme up to 50 min and the bioaccessibility of phenolic compounds reached up to 32%.These results showed that pecan nutshell extracts are an important source of biologically active compounds,thus,they are suitable to be used as commodities in different fields such as agricultural,food and pharmaceutical *** studies must be carried out in order to elucidate the activity of nutshell extracts within in vivo systems.

magnetic filtration of an iron oxide aerosol by means of magnetizable grates

The cleaning of gases with low concentrations of small ferromagnetic or paramagnetic particles is a difficult task for conventional filtration. A new alternative procedure, magnetic filtration, is used in this work. Iron oxide aerosol was generated by elutriation of iron oxide particles from a fluidized bed consisting of a mixture of Geldart-C iron oxide powder and large spherical Geldart-B sand particles. The aerosol was filtered by means of a magnetic filter which consisted of one, two or three iron grates staggered to each other. The experimental installation contained also an isokinetic sampling system and a microtrac SRA 150 particle Analyser. A theoretical expression for filtration efficiency was deduced from a previous model taking into account the different forces acting on the iron oxide particles. Experimental filtration efficiency matches quite well calculated theoretical efficiency. It was found that an increase in particle size, in thee number of grates or in the applied magnetic field produced higher filtration efficiencies up to 100% in some cases. In all filtration experiments pressure drop through the magnetic filter was very small.

Ultrasound-assisted extraction of antioxidant polyphenolic compounds from Nephelium lappaceum l.(mexican variety) husk

Objective: To reach the recovery and identification of antioxidant polyphenolic compounds from Nephelium lappaceum l.(mexican variety) husk using ultrasound-assisted extraction and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry as well as the in vitro antioxidant activity. methods: Rambutan husk extracts were obtained by ultrasound-assisted extraction, mass/volume ratio, water/ethanol percentage and extraction time were evaluated. Once the best extraction condition of polyphenolic compounds was defined, a polyphenolic fraction was recovered using Ambetlite XAD-16. The total content of antioxidant polyphenolic compounds was determined by summation of the total hydrolysable polyphenol and total condensed polyphenol contents. Recovered compounds were identified by FTIR(ATR) spectroscopy and HplC/ESI/mS. The antioxidant activity was carried out by ABTS, DppH and lipid oxidation inhibition in vitro methods. Results: In mexican variety rambutan husk, the total polyphenolic content was 487.67 mg/g, after ultrasound-assisted extraction. According to the HplC/ESI/mS analysis 12 antioxidant polyphenolic compounds were identified, mostly ellagitannins such as geraniin, corilagin and ellagic acid. The antioxidant activity determined by ABTS, DppH and lipid oxidation inhibition methods was demonstrated. The main functional groups of the identified compounds were determined by FTIR analysis. Conclusions: It was demonstrated that ultrasound-assisted extraction was effective and allowed the extraction and recovery of antioxidant polyphenolic compounds. Furthermore mexican variety rambutan husk is an important source for recovering polyphenolic compounds with antioxidant activity, these compounds have potential application for the treatment/prevention of various diseases related to cancer and pathogenic microorganisms.

cancer is a major cause of death *** carcinoma(HCC)is one of the malignancies with the highest mortality-to-incidence ratio(>0.9),and in some countries this value is up to ***,many patients are diagnosed at advanced stages of the ***,HCC early markers,as well as novel therapeutic approaches,are urgently *** is the main type of liver cancer and it is associated with different factors including alcohol use,viral infections,and fatty liver disease.A significant percentage of HCC patients previously had liver *** ion channels have been proposed as novel potential markers and therapeutic targets for diverse cancers including ***,we review most of the findings associating ion channel expression with HCC and its etiological factors,as well as some possible pro-tumorigenic mechanisms of action for ion channels in *** therapies for HCC treatment and prevention are also *** channel targeting offers a plethora of opportunities for HCC prevention,early diagnosis,and therapy that may help to reduce the extremely high mortality-to-incidence ratio of this malignancy.

Generalized BCS Equations and the Iron-pnictide Superconductors

A detailed quantitative study of the pnictide composite superconductor (CS) Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2 is presented in the frame-work of the recently derived set of generalized BCS equations. Invoking multiple Debye temperatures to take into account anisotropy of the CS, we address the current experimental data on its Tc and the (not so clear-cut) gap-values via different theoretical scenarios that attempt to identify the ion species responsible for pairing in it. This is done with the aid of the Bogoliubov’s restriction on the BCS dimensionless electron-phonon coupling constant. Significantly, our study sheds light on the gaps which have recently been observed in different iron-pnictide CSs as nodes or line-nodes on the Fermi surface and have evinced considerable interest.

Adiponectin as a protective factor in hepatic steatosis

AIm: Obesity and insulin resistance (IR) are closely related to hepatic steatosis (HS), and adiponectin is a hepatic insulin sensitizer that has important effects in liver function. This study aims at investigating the relationship between serum adiponectin concentration and the presence of HS. mETHODS: We carried out a cross-sectional study in a check-up unit of a University Hospital in mexico City. We enrolled 196 subjects, comprising 98 subjects with HS (27 women, 71 men) and 98 controls (37 women and 61 men). Anthropometric, metabolic and biochemical variables were measured in the two groups. Serum adiponectin and leptin concentrations were determined, their association with grade of HS tested, and concentrations, according to quartiles, compared between cases and controls. X2 analysis for linear trends was used to test for a dose-response relationship and logistic regression analysis was conducted to test for a protective effect of adiponectin. RESUlTS: The HS subjects were older and more obese than controls, with a central obesity pattern. In the fourth quartile of adiponectin concentrations, HS was less common and severe. In a multivariate model of the fourth quartile of the adiponectin concentrations, we observed a protective effect (OR = 0.17, 95%CI: 0.04-0.67, p= 0.01). In subjects with more severe HS, we observed higher leptin concentrations, and caloric intakes, total fat and iron consumption were higher than in controls. CONClUSION: The results of the present study suggest that a high serum concentration of adiponectin is associated with a protective effect against HS.

A wireless body area network （WBAN） enables real-time monitoring of physiological signals and helps with the early detection of life-threatening diseases. WBAN nodes can be located on, inside, or in close proximity to the body in order to detect vital signals. measurements from sensors are processed and transmitted over wireless channels. Issues in sensing, signal processing, and com-munication have to be addressed before WBAN can be implemented. In this paper, we survey recent advances in research on sig-nal processing for the sensor measurements, and we describe aspects of communication based on IEEE 802.15.6. We also discuss state-of-the-art WBAN channel modeling in all the frequencies specified by IEEE 802.15.6 as well as the need for new channel models for new different frequencies.

pharmacokinetics of sildenafil in children with pulmonary arterial hypertension

performance of phragmites Australis and Cyperus papyrus in the treatment of municipal wastewater by vertical flow subsurface constructed wetlands

The use of constructed wetlands to treat municipal wastewater reduces energy consumption and therefore economic costs,as well as reduces environmental *** purpose of this study was to compare the purification capacity of domestic wastewater using two species of plants sown in subsurface constructed wetlands with vertical flow built on a small scale that received municipal wastewater with primary *** species used were phragmites Australis and Cyperus *** this purpose,a constant flow of 0.6 m3 day-1 was fed from the primary lagoon to each of the two wetlands built on a pilot scale with continuous *** unit was filled with granite gravel in the lower part and with silicic sand in the upper part of different granulometry,the porosity of the medium was 0.34,with a retention time of 1.12 days and a hydraulic load rate of 0.2 m *** analyze the purification capacity of wastewater,physical,chemical and biological parameters were monitored during three *** were taken at the entrance and exit in each experimental *** results obtained in the experimental tests for the two species of plants,indicated that the Cyperus papyrus presented a greater capacity of pollutants removal as biochemical oxygen demand (80.69%),chemical oxygen demand (69.87%),ammoniacal nitrogen (69.69%),total phosphorus (50%),total coliforms (98.08%) and fecal coliforms (95.61%).In the case of phragmites Australis retains more *** species with greater efficiency in the treatment of municipal wastewater for this study was Cyperus papyrus.
