The surface tension study is very crucial for the design of CO2 gas absorption contacting equipment. The significance of the surface tension has been increasing due to its consideration in various technological fields. This property influences the mass transfer and hydrodynamics of gas absorption systems, mainly multiphase systems, in which the interface between gas and liquid exists. Therefore, in this study, surface tension of aqueous solutions of sodium L-prolinate(SP) and piperazine(PZ) blends were measured at ten different temperatures from(298.15 to 343.15) k. The SP mass fractions were 0.10, 0.20, and 0.30;while the mass fractions of PZ were 0.02 and 0.05. The experimental results showed that the surface tension increase with increasing the mass fractions of SP and PZ in aqueous blends, and decrease linearly with rising temperature. The experimental data of surface tension were correlated by two empirical correlations as a function of temperature and mass fractions for estimating the predicted data using the optimized correlation coefficients. moreover, the modeling of surface tension data was carried out using Artificial Neural Network(ANN) approach. The results obtianed from ANN modeling were compared with applied empirical correlation. It was found that the ANN approach outperformed the empirical correlation used in this study. Besides, a quantitative analysis of variation(ANOVA) was performed in order to determine the significance of data. The surface tension of aqueous SP and SP + PZ was also compared with various conventional solvents.

In underground constructions, a good ventilation design not only delivers fresh air to establish good working environment, but also provides a scientific and reliable basis to prevent disasters. In emergency cases, unexpected closure of the main airways may occur, providing the workers with alternative airways is substantial. This is important not only to sustain personnel lives, but also to prevent the mine ventilation system from damage. In this research, alternate solutions were introduced in case of failure in the underground construction to keep a pre-assigned fixed quantity in a working place for mine ventilation network. Eight different collapse scenarios were proposed to study their effect on the air quantity distribution among the branches in the ventilation circuit. From these scenarios, it is found that providing a sufficient air quantity in the working places could be achieved through modification of the network topology and adjusting the values of the regulators pressure. It is also indicated that the distance between the collapse and working places has a great effect on the amount of air delivered to it. A reduction in the power consumption could be done by re-arrange the installed regulators and decreasing the number of nodes and branches inside the network. A relationship representing the effect of changing the network topology on the total network power consumption was deduced through regression analysis. It is found that the total network power is quadratic dependent on the number of regulators and number of branches while it is directly dependent on the regulator power.

Determination of sodium hyaluronate in pharmaceutical formulations by HPLC–UV

A liquid chromatography （HPLC） method with UV detection was developed for determination of sodium hyaluronate in pharmaceutical formulation. Sodium hyaluronate is a polymer of disaccharides, composed of D-glucuronic acid and D-N-acetylglucosamine, linked via alternating 13-1, 4 and D-l, 3 glycosidic bonds. Being a polymer compound it lacks a UV absorbing chromophore. In the absence of a UV absorbing chromophore and highly polar nature of compound, the analysis becomes a major challenge. To overcome these problems a novel method for the determination of sodium hyaluronate was developed and validated based on size exclusion liquid chromatography （SEC） with UV detection. An isocratic mobile phase consisting of buffer 0.05 m potassium dihydrogen phosphate, pH adjusted to 7.0 using potassium hydroxide （10%） was used. Chromatography was carried out at 25 ~C on a BioSep SEC $2000, 300 mm ~ 7.8 mm column. The detection was carded out using variable wavelength UV-vis detector set at 205 nm. The compounds were eluted isocratically at a steady flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. Sodium hyaluronate retention time was about 4.9 min with an asymmetry factor of 1.93. A calibration curve was obtained from 1 to 38 g/mL （r〉0.9998）. Within-day % RSD was 1.0 and between-day % RSD was 1.10. Specificity/selectivity experiments revealed the absence of interference from excipients, recovery from spiked samples for sodium hyaluronate was 99-102. The developed method was applied to the determination of sodium hyaluronate in pharmaceutical drug substance and product.

This paper presents a novel enhanced human-robot interaction system based on model reference adaptive control. The presented method delivers guaranteed stability and task performance and has two control loops. A robot-specific inner loop, which is a neuroadaptive controller, learns the robot dynamics online and makes the robot respond like a prescribed impedance model. This loop uses no task information, including no prescribed trajectory. A task-specific outer loop takes into account the human operator dynamics and adapts the prescribed robot impedance model so that the combined human-robot system has desirable characteristics for task performance. This design is based on model reference adaptive control, but of a nonstandard form. The net result is a controller with both adaptive impedance characteristics and assistive inputs that augment the human operator to provide improved task performance of the human-robot team. Simulations verify the performance of the proposed controller in a repetitive point-to-point motion task. Actual experimental implementations on a PR2 robot further corroborate the effectiveness of the approach.

Pakistan is at 12th number in the rank of rice production countries. Along with the production of 4,500 thousand metric tons of rice enormous quantity of rice husk is left as waste. Light weight thermal insulating material was prepared from rice husk. Epoxy resin was used as a binder and was mixed with rice husk to give it strength, the sample was compressed at 7000 psi to produce cylindrical shape block. The thermal conductivity of the sample A, B, C and D of thickness 1, 2, 3 and 4 cm respectively was measured 0.0241, 0.0240, 0.239 and 0.0219 watts/m-k, which was lower than the common mortar by 51.74%, therefore it could be used in buildings and roof as an insulating material. This would be a suitable alternative which would not only save energy but also solve the environmental disposal problems as well. The results are very promising and we hope insulation material prepared would be useable in hot climate regions like Pakistan in buildings to prevent heat transfer.

We report the magnetoelectric (mE) coupling in mE composites composed of NiFe2O4 (NFO) or metglas as magnetostrictive phases and BaTiO3 (BTO) as piezoelectric phase, targeting lead free magetnic field sensors. NFO and BTO phases were synthesized by solid state sintering method and further characterized by using XRD and FESEm techniques. The P-E hysteresis curve shows good ferroelectric behavior with saturation polarization of Ps = 15.87 C/cm2 and coercive electric field of 130 kV/cm. The mE response was characterized as a function of dc magnetic field at a fixed frequency. The transverse mE voltage coefficient, αmE31 shows 2 times larger magnitude than that of longitudinal mE voltage coefficient, αmE31. The maximum αmE31 of 37 mV/cm•Oe (@Hdc = 250 Oe) is observed for NFO/BTO/NFO mE composites with thickness ratio of tm/tp = 1.0. The mE coupling is further enhanced by replacing NFO layers by highly magnetostrictive metglas layers. metglas/BTO/metglas laminates show large αmE31 value of 81 mV/cm•Oe at relatively lower Hdc of 145 Oe. The present laminates can offer promising opportunities of engineering environmental friendly mE laminate for applications in mE devices such as energy harvester and magnetic field sensors.
