Comparative investigation of microstructure and high-temperature oxidation resistance of high-velocity oxy-fuel sprayed CoNiCrAlY/nano-Al_(2)O_(3) composite coatings using satellited powders

Satellited CoNiCrAlY–Al_(2)O_(3)feedstocks with 2wt%, 4wt%, and 6wt% oxide nanoparticles and pure CoNiCrAlY powder were deposited by the high-velocity oxy fuel process on an Inconel738 superalloy substrate. The oxidation test was performed at 1050℃ for 5, 50, 100,150, 200, and 400 h. The microstructure and phase composition of powders and coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, respectively. The bonding strength of the coatings was also evaluated. The results proved that with the increase in the percentage of nanoparticles(from 2wt% to 6wt%), the amount of porosity(from 1vol% to 4.7vol%), unmelted particles, and roughness of the coatings(from 4.8 to 8.8 μm) increased, and the bonding strength decreased from 71 to 48 mPa. The thicknesses of the thermally grown oxide layer of pure and composite coatings(2wt%, 4wt%, and 6wt%) after 400 h oxidation were measured as 6.5, 5.5, 7.6, and 8.1 μm, *** CoNiCrAlY–2wt% Al_(2)O_(3)coating showed the highest oxidation resistance due to the diffusion barrier effect of well-dispersed nanoparticles. The CoNiCrAlY–6wt% Al_(2)O_(3)coating had the lowest oxidation resistance due to its rough surface morphology and porous microstructure.

The proposed site of the Diamer Bhasha Dam in northern Pakistan is situated in an active tectonic zone with intensive seismicity,which makes it necessary for seismic hazard analysis(SHA).Deterministic and probabilistic approaches have been used for SHA of the dam *** main mantle Thrust(mmT),main Karakaram Thrust(mKT),Raikot-Sassi Fault(RKSF)and Kohistan Fault(KF)have been considered as major seismic sources,all of which can create maximum ground shaking with maximum potential earthquake(mPE).Deterministically estimated mPE for magnitudes of 7.8,7.7,7.6,and 7.1 can be produced from mmT,mKT,RKSF and KF,*** corresponding peak ground accelerations(PGA)of 0.07,0.11,0.13 and 0.05 g can also be generated from these earthquakes,*** deterministic analysis predicts a so-called floating earthquake as a mPE of magnitude=7.1 as close as 10 km away from the *** corresponding PGA was computed as 0.38 g for a maximum design earthquake at the project ***,the probabilistic analysis revealed that the PGA with 50%probability of exceedance in 100 years is 0.18 ***,this PGA value related to the operational basis earthquake(OBE)is suggested for the design of this project with shear wave velocity(V_(s30))equal to 760 m/s under dense soil and soft rock conditions.

This paper reports the purification and characterization of kinetic parameters of cellulase produced from Trichoderma viride under still culture solid state fermentation technique using cheap and an easily available agricultural waste material, wheat straw as growth supported substrate. Trichoderma viride was cultured in fermentation medium of wheat straw under some previously optimized growth conditions and maximum activity of 398±2.43U/mL obtained after stipulated fermentation time period. Cellulase was purified 2.33 fold with specific activity of 105U/mg in comparison to crude enzyme extract using ammonium sulfate precipitation, dialysis and Sephadex-G-100 column chromatography. The enzyme was shown to have a relative low molecular weight of 58kDa by sodium dodecyl sulphate poly-acrylamide gel electrophoresis. The purified enzyme displayed 6.5 and 55oC as an optimum pH and temperature respectively. Using carboxymethyl cellulose as substrate, the enzyme showed maximum activity (Vmax) of 148U/mL with its corresponding Km value of 68μm. Among activators/inhibitors SDS, EDTA, and Hg2+ showed inhibitory effect on purified cellulase whereas, the enzyme activated by Co2+ and mn2+ at a concentration of 1mm. The purified cellulase was compatible with four local detergent brands with up to 20 days of shelf life at room temperature suggesting its potential as a detergent additive for improved washing therefore, it is concluded that it may be potentially useful for industrial purposes especially for detergent and laundry industry.

Background Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy(EUS-FNB)is increasingly utilized to enhance the cytological yield of sampling solid lesions,but its superiority over existing fine-needle aspiration(FNA)platforms has not been clearly *** aim of our study was to compare the diagnostic accuracy and procedural outcomes of FNB using a new Franseen-tip needle to that of a traditional FNA in sampling solid lesions under EUS *** Consecutive patients with solid lesions referred for EUS-FNB sampling were ***-related outcomes were collected prospectively including patient demographics,number of passes performed,diagnostic sample adequacy,adverse events,and recovery *** Acquire needle was used to sample all lesions in the study *** EUSFNA procedures performed to sample solid lesions using the Expect needle were utilized as *** There were 180 patients undergoing EUS-FNB compared to 183 patients undergoing EUS-FNA procedures for solidlesion *** procedure time was significantly shorter in patients who underwent FNB compared to FNA(mean:37.4 vs 44.9 minutes,Pmed in the FNB cohort compared to the FNA group(mean:2.9 vs 3.8,Pmpared to the FNA group(98.3%vs 90.2%,P=0.003).No significant difference in the incidence of adverse events was observed between the FNB and FNA groups(1.1%vs 0.5%,P=0.564).Conclusions An FNB-exclusive approach to sampling solid lesions under EUS guidance is safe and feasible,and may result in fewer overall passes,shorter procedure time,and improved diagnostic *** may replace FNA as the primary sampling modality of choice in all solid lesions.

Thermal imaging can be used as an indicator of water stress due to the closure of stomatal *** this paper,we analyzed the robustness and sensitivity of thermography of winter wheat in the North China *** seasonal and diurnal variations of Crop Water Stress Index(CWSI)were *** treatments were applied by means of irrigation,with plots receiving 100%of ETo(DI),50%(D50),16%(D16)and no irrigation(NI).A high correlation was found between stomatal conductance(gs)and CWSI,depending on the phenological stage of the crop with R2=0.44 at pre-heading stage and R2=0.77 at post-heading *** addition,a high correlation between yield and CWSI at different growth stages indicates that thermography can predict *** measurements of canopy temperature were taken to study the effect of the time of day on image acquisition and it was found that midday was the most appropriate *** results should assist in designing precision irrigation scheduling for setting the threshold values.

Disposal and Use of Sewage on Agricultural Lands in Pakistan: A Review

Raw sewage is widely used on agricultural soils in urban areas of developing countries to meet water shortages. Although it is a good source of plant nutrients, such sewage also increases the heavy metal load to soils, which may impact the food chain. management options for sewage contaminated soils includes addition of nontoxic compounds such as lime, calcium sulfate and organic matter, which form insoluble metal complexes, thus reducing metal phytoavailability to plants. In this paper we review the variation in irrigation quality of sewage at different sites and its impact on the quality of soils and vegetables. Although quality of sewage was highly variable at source, yet the effluent from food industries was relatively safe for irrigation. In comparison effluent samples collected from textile, dyeing, calendaring, steel industry, hospitals and clinical laboratories, foundries and tanneries were hazardous with respect to soluble salts, sodium adsorption ratio and heavy metals like zinc, copper, iron, manganese, nickel, cobalt and cadmium. The sewage quality in main drains was better than that at the industry outlet, but was still not safe for irrigation. In general, higher accumulation of metals in fruits and vegetable roots was recorded compared to that in plant leaves, Edible parts of vegetables （fruits and/or leaves） accumulated metals more than the permissible limits despite the soils contained ammonium bicarbonate diethylenetriaminepentaacetie acid extractable metals within a safe range. In either case further scientific investigations are needed to ensure safe management strategies. Cadmium appeared to be the most threatening metal especially in leafy vegetables. It is advisable to avoid leafy vegetables cultivation in sewage irrigated areas everywhere to restrict its entry into food chain.
