The experimental work on the ZrO2-YO1.5-CeO2 system, it limiting quasi-binaries and previous thermodynamic assessments are reviewed and evaluated. Isothermal sections of the ZrO2-YO1.5-CeO2 system in the temperature region between 1450 and 1800°C are estimated according to the substitutional model using the Bonnier equation. The CSS+YSS two-phase region of the calculated isothermal section at 1700°C was found to be in good agreement with the experimentally obtained ternary diagram of Longo and Podda. However, the phase composition in the ZrO2-rich corner disagreed with it significantly.

In this study,Ni catalysts supported on Pr-doped Ce O_(2) are studied for the CO_(2) methanation reaction and the effect of Pr doping on the physicochemical properties and the catalytic performance is thoroughly *** is shown,that Pr^(3+)ions can substitute Ce^(4+)ones in the support lattice,thereby introducing a high population of oxygen vacancies,which act as active sites for CO_(2) *** doping can also act to reduce the crystallite size of metallic Ni,thus promoting the active metal *** performance evaluation evidences the promoting effect of low Pr loadings(5 at%and 10 at%)towards a higher catalytic activity and lower CO_(2) activation *** the other hand,higher Pr contents negate the positive effects on the catalytic activity by decreasing the oxygen vacancy population,thereby creating a volcano-type trend towards an optimum amount of aliovalent substitution.

measuring the similarity between two arbitrary crystal structures is a common challenge in crystallography and materials *** there are an infinite number of ways to mathematically relate two crystal structures,only a few are physically *** we introduce both a geometry-based and a symmetry-adapted similarity metric to compare crystal *** crystal symmetry and combinatorial optimization we describe an algorithm to arrive at the structural relationship that minimizes these similarity metrics across all possible maps between any pair of crystal *** approach makes it possible to(i)identify pairs of crystal structures that are identical,(ii)quantitatively measure the similarity between crystal structures,and(iii)find and rank structural transformation pathways between any pair of crystal *** discuss the advantages of using the symmetryadapted cost metric over the geometric ***,we show that all known structural transformation pathways between common crystal structures are recovered with the mapping *** methodology presented in this study will be of value to efforts that seek to catalogue crystal structures,identify structural transformation pathways or prune large first-principles datasets used to parameterize on-lattice Hamiltonians.

Background:Data on epidemiology, costs, and outcomes of burn-related injuries presenting at emergency departments (eDs) are scarce. To obtain such information, a questionnaire study with an adequate response rate is imperative. There is evidence that optimized strategies can increase patient participation. However, it is unclear whether this applies to burn patients in an eD setting. The objective of this feasibility study was to optimize and evaluate patient recruitment strategy and follow-up methods in patients with burn injuries presenting at eDs. methods:In a prospective cohort study with a 6-month follow-up, patients with burn-related injuries attending two large eDs during a 3-month study period were included. eligible patients were quasi-randomly allocated to a standard or optimized recruitment strategy by week of the eD visit. The standard recruitment strategy consisted of an invitation letter to participate, an informed consent form, a questionnaire, and a franked return envelope. The optimized recruitment strategy was complemented by a stamped returned envelope, monetary incentive, sending a second copy of the questionnaire, and a reminder by telephone in non-responders. Response rates were calculated, and questionnaires were used to assess treatment, costs, and health-related quality of life. Results:A total of 87 patients were included of which 85 were eligible for the follow-up study. There was a higher response rate at 2 months in the optimized versus the standard recruitment strategy (43.6%vs. 20.0%;OR=3.1 (95%CI 1.1–8.8)), although overall response is low. Non-response analyses showed no significant differences in patient, burn injury or treatment characteristics between responders versus non-responders. Conclusions:This study demonstrated that response rates can be increased with an optimized, but more labor-intensive recruitment strategy, although further optimization of recruitment and follow-up is needed. AIm： To Investigate the added value of using a Diaton transpalpebral tonometer （DT） to measure lOP in keretoconus. most type of tonometers use corneal applanation or biomechanical resistance to measure intraocular pressure （lOP）; however, these factors can be altered by keratoconus. Specifically, we examined whether DT can detect false-negative low Goldmann applanation tonometry （AT） measurements. meTHODS： Patients with keratoconus were recruited from our tertiary academic treatment center. measurements included AT and DT （in random order） and Scheimpflug imaging. An age- and gender-matched group of control subjects with no history of corneal disease or glaucoma was also recruited. ReSULTS： In total, 130 eyes from 66 participants were assessed. In the keratoconus group, mean AT was 11.0± 2.6, mean DT 11±5.5 （P =0.729）and the two measures were correlated significantly（P=0.006, R=0.323）. However, a Bland-Altman plot revealed a wide distribution and poor agreement between both measurements. Previous corneal crosslinking, corneal pachymetry, and Krumeich classification had no effect on measured IOP. CONCLUSION： measurements obtained using a Diaton tonometer are not affected by corneal biomechanics; however, its poor agreement with Goldmann AT values calls into question the added value of using a Diaton tonometer to measure lOP in keratoconus.

malignant bone tumors are usually treated by resection of tumor tissue followed by filling of the bone defect with bone graft ***(PmmA)cement is the most commonly used bone substitute in clinical orthopedics in view of its ***,the dense nature of PmmA renders this biomaterial unsuitable for local delivery of chemotherapeutic drugs to limit the recurrence of bone ***,we introduce porosity into PmmA cement by adding carboxymethylcellulose(CmC)to facilitate such local delivery of chemotherapeutic drugs,while retaining sufficient mechanical properties for bone reconstruction in load-bearing *** results show that the mechanical strength of PmmA-based cements gradually decreases with increasing CmC *** incorporation of≥3%CmC,the PmmA-based cements released up to 18%of the loaded cisplatin,in contrast to cements containing lower amounts of CmC which only released less than 2%of the cisplatin over 28 *** release of cisplatin efficiently killed osteosarcoma cells in vitro and the fraction of dead cells increased to 91.3%at day 7,which confirms the retained chemotherapeutic activity of released cisplatin from these PmmA-based ***,tibias filled with PmmA-based cements containing up to 3%of CmC exhibit comparable compressive strengths as compared to intact *** conclusion,we demonstrate that PmmA cements can be rendered therapeutically active by introducing porosity using CmC to allow for release of cisplatin without compromising mechanical properties beyond critical *** such,these data suggest that our dual-functional PmmA-based cements represent a viable treatment option for filling bone defects after bone tumor resection in load-bearing sites.
