The presented study aims to extend the knowledge of toxicological profile of rare earth elements salts(REEs).The basal toxicity test performed comprised assessment of cytotoxicity(3 T3 Balb/c Neutral Red Uptake Test)that allows for calculation of LD50(rats)on the basis of the concentration which leads to a50%reduction in cell growth(IC50).Environmental toxicity was addressed by the Tubifex tubifex(T.t.)express *** in vitro skin irritation(OECD TG 439)and skin corrosion tests(OECD TG 431)utilizing the 3 D in vitro reconstructed human epidermal model EpiDerm(matTek IVSL,SK)were used for assessment of skin irritation and corrosion potential hazard of *** effects were determined using the bacterial reverse mutation assay(Ames Test)on 5 Salmonella typhimurium strains with and without metabolic activation(OECD TG 471).Endocrine disruption was evaluated by means of a yeastbased assay YES/YAS(Xenometrix,CH).Skin sensitization was assessed using the LuSens assay,based on a genetically modified human keratinocyte cell line(OECD TG 442 D).The tested REEs have no potential of mutagenicity or skin sensitization,exhibit very weak endocrine disruption potential and only exceptional local irritation/corrosion effects for thulium(Ⅲ)chloride anhydrous,but have acute and chronic toxic effects on the aquatic environment.

Impact of agricultural landscape structure on the patterns of bird species diversity at a regional scale

The loss of bird species diversity is a crucial problem in the European agricultural *** in the area coverage of major land cover types has been mentioned as one of the main factors responsible for bird biodiversity *** this study,we focused on the impact of landscape matrix characteristics on bird species richness and on Faith’s phylogenetic diversity index on a spatial scale of 1000-m radius around the measured occurrence *** investigated how land cover composition affects bird diversity on the landscape scale using nationwide citizen science *** total,168,739 records of bird occurrence in the South moravian Region of the Czech Republic during growing season from 2009 to 2019 were *** found that the presence of water bodies and wetlands significantly corresponded to the areas of highest bird species *** also revealed that the presence of forests(~60%of the forest in the Czech Republic is occupied by commercial forests),urban areas and arable land were negatively associated with bird species richness and phylogenetic ***(both coniferous and deciduous)and urban habitats were found to have a tendency to host a clustered phylogenetic community structure in comparison with wetland and arable land.A strong negative association between forest proportion and bird diversity led us to conclude that the expansion of the forest(with simple species composition,horizontal and vertical structure)could be one of the critical drivers of the decline of bird species diversity in the European agricultural *** the other hand,our results also pointed out that small woody features(i.e.,woodlots)and scattered woodland shrub vegetation were one of the main landscape characteristics supporting a bird diversity in rural *** is in concordance with other studies which mention these landscape structures as important elements for nesting and foraging of farmland *** thus recommend to maintain and restor

AIm:To investigate the contribution of ABCB4 mutations to pediatric idiopathic gallstone disease and the potential of hormonal contraceptives to prompt clinical manifestations of multidrug resistance protein 3 ***:mutational analysis of ABCB4,screening for copy number variations by multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification,genotyping for low expression allele c.1331T>C of ABCB11 and genotyping for variation c.55G>C in ABCG8 previously associated with cholesterol gallstones in adults was performed in 35 pediatric subjects with idiopathic gallstones who fulfilled the clinical criteria for low phospholipid-associated cholelithiasis syndrome(LPAC,OmIm#600803)and in 5young females with suspected LPAC and their families(5 probands,15 additional family members).The probands came to medical attention for contraceptiveassociated intrahepatic ***:A possibly pathogenic variant of ABCB4was found only in one of the 35 pediatric subjects with idiopathic cholesterol gallstones whereas 15 members of the studied 5 LPAC kindreds were confirmed and another one was highly suspected to carry predictably pathogenic mutations in *** these 16,however,none developed gallstones in *** 5index patients,all young females carrying at least one pathogenic mutation in one allele of ABCB4,manifestation of LPAC as intrahepatic cholestasis with elevated serum activity of gamma-glutamyltransferase was induced by hormonal *** ABCB11c.1331T>C and ABCG8 c.55G>C were not significantly overrepresented in the 35 examined patients with suspect ***:Clinical criteria for LPAC syndrome caused by mutations in ABCB4 cannot be applied topediatric patients with idiopathic *** immaturity even prevents manifestation of LPAC.
