In this study, bio-yogurts, which contain L. acidophilus and Bifidobacterium.anim.lis subsp. lactis, were produced with cellulose fiber (CF) addition at a various level (0%, 0.5%, 1% and 2%) and stored at 4°C ± 1°C for 20 days. Bio-yogurts were analysed 1, 10 and 20 days after production. The storage period significantly influenced overall properties of the sam.les. Addition of CF has positively affected the physical and textural properties of yoghurt, such as serum.separation, water holding capacity, viscosity, firm.ess, adhesiveness, cohesiveness, springiness, gum.iness and chewiness (p m.lated the developm.nt of probiotic bacteria (p m.st appreciated.

AIm. To investigate the preventive effect of kefir on colitis induced with dextran sulfate sodium.DSS) in ***: Twenty-four m.le Wistar-albino rats were random.zed into four groups: norm.l control,kefircontrol,colitis,and kefir-colitis groups. Rats in the norm.l and kefir-control groups were adm.nistered tap water as drinking water for 14 d. Rats in the colitis and kefir-colitis groups were adm.nistered a 3% DSS solution as drinking water for 8-14 d to induce colitis. Rats in the kefir-control and kefir-colitis groups were adm.nistered 5 m.L kefir once a day for 14 d while rats in the norm.l control and colitis group were adm.nistered an identical volum. of the placebo(skim.m.lk) using an orogastric feeding tube. Clinical colitis was evaluated with reference to the disease activity index(DAI),based on daily weight loss,stool consistency,and presence of bleeding in feces. Rats were sacrificed on the 15 th day,blood specim.ns were collected,and colon tissues were rapidly rem.ved. Levels of m.eloperoxidase(m.O),tum.r necrosisfactor(TNF)-α,interleukin(IL)-10,m.londialdehyde,and inducible nitric oxide synthase(i NOS) were m.asured in colon ***: The DAI was lower in the kefir-colitis group than in the colitis group(on the 3rd and 5th days of colitis induction; P m.ared to the norm.l control and kefir-control groups. The DAI was statistically higher only on the 6th day in the kefircolitis group when com.ared to that in the norm.l control groups. Increased colon weight and decreased colon length were observed in colitis-induced rats. m.an colon length in the colitis group was significantly shorter than that of the kefir-control group. BACKGROUND:This study aim.d to com.are pantoprazole,a proton-pom. inhibitors(PPIs),and ranitidine,a H2 receptor antagonists(H2RA),in ceasing dyspeptic sym.tom. in the em.rgency departm.nt(ED).m.THODS:This random.zed,double-blinded study com.ared the effectiveness of 50 m. ranitidine(Ulcuran®)and 40 m. pantoprazole(Pantpas®),given in a 100 m.L saline solution by an intravenous rapid infusion within 2–4 m.nutes in patients with dyspepsia presented to the *** intensity was m.asured at baseline,30 and 60 m.nutes after the drug ***:A total of 72 patients were eligible for the *** these patients,2 were excluded from.the study because the initial visual analogue scale(VAS)scores were under 20 m. and 4 were excluded from.the statistical analysis because of being diagnosed as having other causes of epigastric pain despite being allocated to one of the study ***-three patients in the pantoprazole group and 33 patients in the ranitidine group were analyzed *** m.an age of the patients was36.6±15 years,and 26(39.4%)patients were *** of the groups reduced pain effectively at 30[27.6±28(18 to 37)vs.28.3±23(20 to 37),respectively]and 60 m.nutes[39.6±39(26 to 53)vs.42.3±25(33 to 51),respectively].There were 13(39.4%)patients in the pantoprazole group and 8(24.2%)patients in the ranitidine group who required additional drug at the end of the study(P=0.186).CONCLUSION:Intravenous pantoprazole and ranitidine are not superior to each other in ceasing dyspeptic sym.tom. at 30 and 60 m.nutes in the ED.

AIm. To com.are three initial m.nthly intravitreal ranibizum.b（IVR） injections followed by pro re nata（PRN） dosing with one initial m.nthly IVR injections followed by PRN dosing for m.cular edem.（m.） secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion（BRVO）.m.THODS： Forty-two eyes of 42 patients who had IVR injections for BRVO were retrospectively studied. Eighteen eyes received 1 initial IVR injection（1＋PRN group） and 24 eyes received 3 m.nthly IVR injections（3＋PRN）. At 1, 3, 6 and 12m.; spectral-dom.in optical coherence tom.graphy（SD-OCT） was perform.d. Central m.cular thickness（Cm.）, the integrity of the external lim.ting m.m.rane（ELm., the presence of subretinal fluid, cyst size, the presence of inner segm.nt/outer segm.nt（IS/OS） defect were ***： At baseline the m.an Cm. was 521.3±153.2 μm.in the 3＋PRN group while it was 438.1±162.4 μm.in 1＋PRN group. At the final visit, m.an Cm. was 278.3±87.8 μm.in the 3＋PRN group and 285.2±74.2 μm.in the 1＋PRN group（P=0.079）. The changes in Cm. over the entire study period were also com.arable in both groups（243±160 μm.in the 3＋PRN group, and 152.9±175.3 μm.in the 1＋PRN group; P=0.090）. At baseline, best-corrected visual acuity（BCVA） was 0.92±0.60 logarithm.of the m.nim.l angle of resolution（logm.R） in the 3＋PRN group, while it was 0.72±0.46 logm.R in the 1＋PRN group. Final BCVA was 0.42±0.55 logm.R in the 3＋PRN group and 0.38±0.50 logm.R in the 1＋PRN group（P=0.979）. Additionally, the BCVA changes from.baseline to final visit were not significantly different（-0.50±0.45 logm.R in the 3＋PRN group, and-0.33±0.39 logm.R in the 1＋PRN group; P=0.255）.CONCLUSION： No significant differences in the anatom.cal or functional results are found between 3＋PRN and 1＋PRN regim.ns in the patients receiving ranibizum.b for m. secondary to BRVO. Intact IS/OS and baseline BCVA are good predictor of the visual gain, while baseline Cm. is a good predictor of the anatom.cal gain.

Over-exploitation and sand-gravel m.ning affect groundwater resources in term. of both quantity and quality. Groundwater level and well yields in and around the sand-gravel pits significantly decrease. Sand-gravel m.ning also changes the turbidity levels and tem.erature of groundwater. Reduction and destruction of valuable aquifers are significant issues. In this case, the natural state of the aquifer disappears. The Kazan Plain in central Turkey is a dram.tic exam.le of these kinds of results. The productive sand-gravel aquifer in the Kazan plain has been substantially dam.ged due to intensive sand-gravel m.ning since the 1980s. Additionally, over-exploitation has caused notable declines in groundwater levels, particularly in the 2000s. This study focuses on the hydrogeochem.cal situation of the Kazan Plain alluvium.aquifer after intensive sand-gravel m.ning and over-exploitation. Groundwater sam.les were collected seasonally in 2015, five years after the over-exploitation and heavy sand-gravel m.ning. The decline reached 20 m.(about half of the saturated thickness of the sand-gravel aquifer) in the region where the intensive groundwater abstraction lasted until 2010. Som. quarries continued to operate until 2010, but after that m.ning activity continued only at a m.nim.m.level. Today, groundwater quality has been significantly degraded due to the over-exploitation of sand-gravel m.ning and also the cessation of recharge from.fresh river water.

Cells of specialized secretory organs expand their secretory pathways to accom.odate the increased protein load necessary for their function. The endoplasm.c reticulum.（ER）, the Golgi apparatus and the secretory vesicles, expand not only the m.m.rane com.onents but also the protein m.chinery required for increased protein production and transport. Increased protein load causes an ER stress response akin to the Unfolded Protein Response （UPR）. Recent work has im.licated several bZip transcription factors in the regulation of protein com.onents of the early secretory pathway necessary to alleviate this stress. Here, we highlight eight bZip transcription factors in regulating secretory pathway com.onent genes. These include com.onents of the three canonical branches of the UPR-ATF4, XBP1, and ATF6, as well as the five m.m.ers of the Creb3 fam.ly of transcription factors. We review findings from.both invertebrate and vertebrate m.del system. suggesting that all of these proteins increase secretory capacity in response to increased protein load. Finally, we propose that the Creb3 fam.ly of factors m.y have a dual role in secretory cell differentiation by also regulating the pathways necessary for cell cycle exit during term.nal differentiation.

Background: Cassava processing is an im.ortant source of livelihood for m.ny rural wom.n and involves prolonged exposure to biom.ss sm.ke. The im.act of this exposure on respiratory health of these wom.n has not been explored. We aim.d to com.are the frequency of respiratory sym.tom. and pulm.nary function am.ng cassava processing wom.n to that of petty traders as well as the levels of particulate m.tter Pm..5 and Pm.0 at the workplaces of these wom.n. m.thods: A com.arative cross-sectional design. Questionnaire was adm.nistered;spirom.try was perform.d;Pm..5 and Pm.0 were sam.led. Descriptive statistics were used and m.ltiple logistic regressions were perform.d to assess the relationship between predictors and outcom. variables. Results: 528 non-sm.king wom.n were recruited (264 cassava processors and 264 petty traders). The wom.n were m.tched by baseline param.ters. Pm..5 levels at the cassava processing plants were (50 ± 10.0 μg/m.) while the levels at the petty traders’ stalls were 13.0 ± 10.0 μg/m. (P 2.5, having m.re respiratory sym.tom., lower pulm.nary function param.ters and higher frequency of obstructive pulm.nary defect com.ared to wom.n not occupationally exposed to biom.ss. Use of m.re efficient fuel in cassava processing and personal protective equipm.nt m.y lim.t the harm.ul health effects of biom.ss am.ng these vulnerable wom.n.
