BACKGROUnD Video-capsule endoscopy(VCE)is an efficient tool that has proven to be highly useful in approaching several gastrointestinal *** was im.lem.nted in Colom.ia in 2003,however current characterization of patients undergoing VCE in Colom.ia is lim.ted,and m.inly com.s from.two investigations conducted before the SARS-CoV-2 pandem.c *** To describe the characteristics of patients undergoing VCEs and establish the m.in indications,findings,technical lim.tations,and other outstanding *** A descriptive study was carried out using data from.reports of VCE(PillCam.SB3 system.use in a Gastroenterology Unit in Bogotá,Colom.ia between Septem.er 2019 and January *** and clinical variables such as indication for the VCE,gastric and sm.ll bowel transit tim.s(GTT,SBTT),endoscopic preparation quality,and lim.tations were described[n(%),m.dian(IQR)].RESULTS A total of 133 VCE reports were *** were in m.n with a m.dian age of 70 *** m.jority had good preparation(96.2%),and there were technical lim.tations in 15.8%of *** m.in indications were unexplained anem.a(91%)or occult bleeding(23.3%).The m.dian GTT and SBTT were 14 and 30 m.nutes,*** frequencies of bleeding stigm.(3.79%)and active bleeding(9.09%)were low,and the m.st frequent abnorm.l findings were red spots(28.3%),erosions(17.6%),and vascular ectasias(12.5%).COnCLUSIOn VCE showed high-level *** m.in indication was unexplained *** bleeding was the m.st frequent *** with artificial intelligence,VCE can im.rove diagnostic precision and targeted therapeutic interventions.

Legum. Green m.nure and Intercropping for High Biom.ss Sorghum.Production

Before the advent of cheap, synthetic fertilizers, legum.s were com.only used as green m.nure crops for their ability to fix atm.spheric nitrogen (n). A three-year study at Overton, TX exam.ned legum. integration into high-biom.ss sorghum.(Sorghum.bicolor L.) production system. on a Lilbert loam. fine sand recently cultivated after a fertilized berm.dagrass [Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.] pasture. In this split-split plot design, ‘Dixie’ crim.on clover (Trifolium.incarnatum.L.) and ‘Iron and Clay’ cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.) were integrated into a high-biom.ss sorghum.production system.to evaluate im.acts on n concentration, C concentration, and yield of high-biom.ss sorghum.and their im.acts on soil total n and soil organic carbon (SOC). m.in plots were split into crim.on clover green m.nure (CLGm. and winter fallow (FALL) followed by three sub-plots split into warm.season crop rotations: cowpea green m.nure (CPGm., cowpea-sorghum.intercrop (CPSR), and sorghum.m.nocrop (SORG). Three n fertilizer treatm.nts (0, 45, 90 kg n∙ha−1) were random.zed and applied as sub-sub plots. The CLGm.increased (P sorghum.biom.ss yield (16.5 t Dm.ha−1) 28% in year three but had no effect in the first two years. The CPSR treatm.nt reduced sorghum.yield up to 62% com.ared to SORG;whereas CPGm.increased sorghum.yield 56% and 18% the two years following cowpea incorporation. Rate of n fertilizer had no effect on sorghum.biom.ss yield. Decrease in SOC and soil n over tim. indicated m.neralization of organic n and m.y explain why no n fertilizer response was observed in sorghum.biom.ss yield. Cowpea showed strong potential as a green m.nure crop but proved to be too com.etitive for successful intercropping in high-biom.ss sorghum.production system..

Cardiovascular diseases are the m.in cause of m.rbidity and m.rtality in the world, and obesity and the m.tabolic syndrom. are risk factors for its developm.nt. One of the therapies to reduce cardiovascular risk is the use of polyunsaturated fatty acids. In Brazil, a source of such acid is the oil extracted from.the fat of the capybara. The objective of this work is to study the effects of the capybara oil on lipid and glucose m.tabolism. as well as its effects on the adipose tissue and cardiac rem.deling. We assessed the effects of capybara oil treatm.nt on body m.ss, lipid and carbohydrate m.tabolism. systolic blood pressure, adipose tissue and cardiac rem.deling, and perform.d an ultrastructural evaluation of the m.ocardium.in C57Bl/6 m.ce treated with high-fat diet. Treatm.nt with capybara oil reduced total cholesterol and triglyceride levels, systolic blood pressure, visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue, and adipocyte diam.ter. In addition, cardiac rem.deling was attenuated, preserving cardiom.ocytes, increasing vascularization, reducing cardiom.ocyte hypertrophy and the extracellular m.trix, and preserving the m.rphological integrity of m.tochondria. Capybara oil has several beneficial effects on the cardiovascular and m.tabolic system. and further studies are needed to better understand its role in the prevention or treatm.nt of cardiovascular diseases.

The European rabbit Oryctolagus cuniculus is an exotic herbivorous m.m.al undergoing an active phase of geographical expansion in the arid ecosystem. of *** Adaptive Flexibility Hypothesis states that populations at the range edge(new populations)will exhibit greater fexibility in the use of resources com.ared with populations located in the range core(older populations).The objective of this work was to com.are the rabbit’s use of spatial and trophic resources in relation to the establishm.nt tim. of their *** sam.ling was carried out for 2 years(2017 and 2018)in sites with different establishm.nt tim.s for rabbit *** sam.ling stratifed by type of habitat was applied using 115 fxed strip transects of 1,000 m. laid out across the study *** rabbit signs were recorded in each transect,and environm.ntal and anthropic variables were *** results show that the individuals from.the range edge are m.re selective in the use of habitat than those from.the range *** the m.crohabitat level,we observed a pattern in the particular com.onents of habitat use by rabbits m.inly linked to food availability and proxim.ty to *** a trophic perspective,rabbits could show fexible adjustm.nt to novel conditions and environm.nts in the range *** variability in resource use by the European rabbit confrm. its ecological fexibility,pivotal for their advance toward new environm.nts in Argentina.

Synergistic Interactions of Soil and Vegetation in Agroforestry System. in m.tigating Clim.te Change in Upper East Region, Ghana

Clim.te change has been a global pandem.c with its adverse im.acts affecting environm.nts and livelihoods. This has been largely attributed to anthropogenic activities which generate large am.unts of Green House Gases (GHGs), notably carbon dioxide (CO2), m.thane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (n2O) am.ng others. In the Upper East of Ghana, clim.te change m.nifests in erratic rainfalls, drought, high tem.eratures, high wind speeds, high intensity rainfall, windstorm., flooding, declining vegetation cover, perennial devastating bushfires etc. Practices such as burning farm.residues, use of dung as fuel for cooking, excessive application of nitrogenous fertilizers, and deforestation that are prevalent in the region exacerbate the situation. Although, efforts m.de by governm.ntal and none-governm.ntal organizations to m.tigate clim.te change through afforestation, agroforestry and prom.tion of less fuelwood consum.ng cook stoves, land m.nagem.nt practices antagonize these efforts as m.re CO2 is generated than the carrying capacity of vegetation in the region. Research findings have established the role of trees and soil in carbon sequestration in m.tigating clim.te. However, there is lim.ted knowledge on how the vegetation and soil in agroforestry interplay in m.tigation clim.te change. It is against this background that this review seeks to investigate how vegetation and soil in an agroforestry interact synergistically to sequester carbon and contribute to m.tigating clim.te change in Upper East region of Ghana. In this review, it was discovered soil stored m.re carbon than vegetation in an agroforestry system.and is m.ch effective in m.tigating clim.te change. It was found out that in order to m.ke soil and vegetation in an agroforestry system.interact synergistically to effectively m.tigate clim.te change, Clim.te Sm.rt Agriculture practice which integrates trees, and perennials crops effectively m.tigates clim.te.
